I hope they add more to the crafting skill or people will just take the points out of researching once they can make everything

I'd be happy if they just let crafters change the traits on gear. It sucks so much to get that one piece of gear you really wanted only to see that it's well fitted.

For max crafters to be able to do this and no one else wouldn't be good for the community. This would give everyone a reason to create a maxed crafter which would eliminate the sales of those who make custom weapons and gear for people.

Also, this is a MMO, and that's the LAST thing that the game developers want. They want you to run that dungeon 50 times to get that max level piece of gear you want. They want it to take 100's upon 100's of resources to make that one item that pushes you closer to the min/max you want. I like simplicity as much as the next person but even I feel that it would be too easy to take a V10 and make it a V16 item with a one button push.

I worked really hard to get to the maxed crafter status I'm at and would LOVE a perk(other than an achievement) for that, but not this unfortunately.

So true. This is another really strong point for the NOPE. They want you to play longer, they want you to grind. I can also imagine how it would result in an explosion of crafters - making the profession and profitable side of it nonexistant.

I vote no and here's why:

The point has been made previously in the comments that being allowed to upgrade gear would negate the need to enter content to obtain said item at a higher level. From the Dev's standpoint; it is in their best interest to keep players interested and playing their game (both from a financial/economic standpoint and just the desire to keep their jobs)

Putting a system into a game they want you to keep playing which would cause you the player to stop playing parts of their game is counter intuitive.

Like people have said before which I am just rehashing now: IF you could go into a dungeon and get an item you want, say the engine guardian helmet, at vr3....and you could upgrade it to v16......what would be your reasoning for going back into the dungeon when you are at max level? to get the same item....AGAIN? nope.

The only way the master crafter upgrade option would be feasible would be if the dev's made master crafting as hard to get, or as much of a grind as it is to get some of the endgame gear now. Then it would be an even swap for playtime and not a shot in the foot for the developers.

I could see this with dropped sets above V10, but not crafted or generic armor

The price to upgrade would cost the same of crafting a new set.

    Pointless.

How do you prevent people from gaming the system? E.g., farming for Kena on a scaled-down vWGT and then upgrading whatever you get?

If upgrading an item requires some very rare materials and costs a considerable fee, I think this could work.

I've posted a detailed suggestion for how I would implement a Master Crafting system with new rare crafting materials (and up to 5 new random additional attributes on set items), including an option to upgrade gear and change the appearance of a specific item to that of any other item here (link).

However, need to consider that ZOS very likely balanced the game based on the fact that certain sets currently cannot be upgraded to VR 16, so many set bonuses might need to be rebalanced if a gear upgrade system ever gets introduced.

It's better to get VR levels removed first, then see how crafting can be enhanced under their new system.

But I'm totally all right with tempers being used not just for quality, but to take your green CPwhatever armor to green CPwhatever plus 10. Then at endgame your legendary gear stays legendary but gets incremental buffs to make them relevant every quarter.

They should add a few items to the game that allow for upgrades.

Upgrade Hammer: Rare drop from any Veteran Dungeon/Trial/Arena that allows a Master Crafter (Requires Max traits) to upgrade any Blacksmithing item to V16.
Upgrade Needle: Rare drop from any Veteran Dungeon/Trial/Arena that allows a Master Crafter (Requires Max traits) to upgrade any Clothier item to V16.
Upgrade Knife: Rare drop from any Veteran Dungeon/Trial/Arena that allows a Master Crafter (Requires Max traits) to upgrade any Woodworking item to V16.

All the upgrades would cost the mats for every level being upgraded all at once.

Example: A v1 sword would cost X Calcinium, Galatite, Quicksilver, Voidstone, and Rubedite ingots all at once.

This way it's a rare drop so running content is still worth it, and it's a good material and money sink so it's not the best method of obtaining/retaining gear but gives options.

I like this, but what if it only leveled it one level. So if you have that Vet3 item you want to make Vet16, you have to really work your ass off. In fact it might be better to run the dungeon and get the item the old fashion way. But if you just need to pop your Vet14 armor piece two levels you can with the upgrade kit.

I have to agree with OP only because I'd laugh my butt off at the qq over the huge cost for this. HUGE. Lmao at the thought.
