I do not think that PVE will die.
Players will do pledges for fun, improvement of their group play skills, the loot and not to forget the undaunted passives.
After that they will move on to the next PVE challenges, supported by new DLC's every quarter.

That sounds as a very natural progress to me.

Which would be? Let's think now, how much challenging content was released from Sanctum trial, to now? Sanctum was released like 1.5 years ago iirc and in that time we have had umm vWGT, vPrison and Maelstrom Arena which you could count as PVE challenges. Next challenging pve content is MoL trial and i can bet you that will be it for atleast another 6 months. For players that have been here since beta, there is literally nothing left to do. Lost count of how many pledges i have done, how many vDSA, vMA, trials etc i have done.

been here since ps4 launch day. only got sanctum ophidia and vmsa to do. given up with opening pledge boxes got like 50 or so keys, only do pledges now to help other people.

the death of pve is coming to all the experienced players. new players will also find themselves in that position soon enough.

How is it cheaper with the rate of content they release now? One could pay 6 months of sub before a new DLC is released. That's more money then one who does not sub and buys it on release with crowns.

Your calculation isn't accurate at all. Six month of subs (in Euro) is ~65 bucks.
So for 65 bucks you get 9k crowns or ~139 Crowns/€.

Buying 2 packs of discounted Crowns on DLC release sums up to 2x20 bucks for 11k crowns.
That means you get 11k crowns for ~40 bucks or ~275 Crowns/€. In the end you get ~51% more crowns for your money!

Did I miss a point? Surely it's everyones own decision to sub and support the game. I apprechiate that. However buying black friday/discount crowns is the cheapest I suppose.

Subbed since Day 1. Use my Crowns to purchase the DLC on the day of release just to "own" it. I haven't found anything else worth spending the Crowns on. Fluff isn't my thing.

I used to just buy Crowns, as I don't really find much value in the subscriber model right now. And my RL situation has drastically changed, so even buying Crowns might not be in the stars for me anymore, at least not for a while. But my preferred method of supporting the game financially (outside of the original purchase) is to buy Crowns (preferably on sale) and then spend them on either compelling content or items I want very much (again, preferably when there is a store sale).

The last exclusive item I'm going to be jumping on is probably gonna be the White Lion mount. Providing the regular lion is going to be a permanent addition, I may get that one later, but I definitely want a lion mount. I was a little disappointed in the Polar Bear animation, but I got it anyway. Polar bears and lions are just two mounts I really like the idea of. Otherwise, a horse suits me just fine.

I'm on the fence about getting the Thief's Guild DLC, mainly because of the aforementioned IRL situation, but I'd like to if finances permit it. I love exploring new areas of Tamriel and discovering the culture and lore.

Used to sub but now I only sub long enough to get the crowns to pay for a DLC so I get the benefit of subbing for a time.

I've subbed since day one. I have 8 characters. I've bought a few of the mounts for variety and I've used crowns to speed up horse upgrades because 6 months per character is agony.

I'm looking forward to crafting bags and extra character slots.

I love Wrothgar and have completed it on one character and wI'll do it with all. I have done all delves, dolmens, most skyshards and all non repeat quests in Cyro on 4 characters. I've gotten all the IC and sewer skyshards on all characters. Let me tell you crawling through there on a lvl 10 is a challenge!
I've completed Craglorn except the trials on one character and have done the AA trial on a Vet 5 character by doing a fun run with my guild. I'm getting more into pvp and find it fun so far.

I'd really like to do Craglorn and trials on my other characters as I get them leveled up but sadly the place seems like a desert most of the time.

So there is still plenty for me to do in this game and I am still enjoying all of it.

I do like to buy occasional things from the crown store so I just sub so I get my monthly crown allotment. If I ever build up to many crowns and am not using DLC, I'll cancel it for a month or two if needed.

I know theres only 2 DLC's now, but as more and more come out, if they really put out 4 a year, that's going to be a lot of money up front to buy all DLCs.

Subbing will be a great value. Especially if you only play for a couple months.

Some of you also mention buying $50 dollars worth of crowns or whatever and just buying all the DLC, instead of subbing for 6 months, but that's to risky for me. If I bought 4 DLC's with crowns but got bored after the first or second DLC was done, I'd feel like I waisted money. At least with a sub, maybe in the 6 month period, I'll spend a few more bucks, but if I'm done with the game early, at least I didn't put so much into it.

Anyways, personally I think ESO has the best buy to play system so far. It really lets you play how you want.

But I do think eventually they might have a GOTYE or something that includes some of the DLC automatically at the game ages.

Yes, I p2p. I really wish games would go back to being designed so that people want to play them instead of being designed to make people buy stuff in the cash shop.

Same here, been subbed since day one. I was really unhappy abouy the B2P transition at first, but I think they've done fine with it. And I now love not having to buy the DLC's while always having a stockpile of crowns to blow on dumb stuff.

Yes, I pay to play. It has been a long time since ZOS has given me reason to question this. Every update has strengthened the parts of the game I play. Sure, there are things that are a step back, and plenty of things I would do different, but I am taking the longer view and so these steps back have come with overall forward movement.

You're renting all of the content, ESO+ or not.

So I bought the game on sale. I buy crowns on sale.
If it's never yours to keep, never pay a premium. I'm not a venture capitalist. I'm never going to make or break the game so I never act like my $15 or $20 actually matters in the long run.

I have an ESO subscription and have since the release, but never buy anything except the DLCs (yes I realize that I have access to the DLCs with the subscription - I just like to have it if I should ever decide to cancel my subscription).

Mainly I do it to support Zeni & Beth and the game. Probably not their target audience with the Crown Store though since I have thousands in unused funds and never buy any of the cosmetic stuff and have no use for anything I can't actually find in the game. Just a waste to me.

I've never subscribed, I don't use anything close to that many crowns and I'm not interested in the other benefits so it wouldn't make any sense for me. (Plus I can never be sure I'll have enough time in a given month to justify it.)

I buy crowns as and when I need them, always the 5,500 crown packs because they work out the cheapest per crown.

I may at some point sub for 1 month to try out the DLC so I can decide which ones to buy (I've not got any yet because I'm still working through the main game), but that's the only reason I can imagine doing it.

Saying "the death of PVE" is an inaccurate statement. PVE is not going away.

While it is true that a player can do all of the PVE content, and a player can repeat it until they don't want to do it anymore, that is not the same thing as saying that it is dead. Getting tired of something does not equate to the death of that thing.

Eventually, all players will hit that point where they are doing the same things over and over, and if they find that boring, then obviously they will consider stopping. ESO has a lot of stuff to do, but not all of it may be interesting to every player. Players who diversify and do different things in the game will find more to do than those who focus on just 'end game content', or any other single activity, when they play.

I don't play any other MMO right now, I have no husband, no kids, little social life, my expenses are very low. Therefore, I subscribe to ESO+.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

I sub for 6 months at a shot and also buy crowns. It's actually an x2 since my wife does as well. We love our time spent in game. Real life slowed my play time down quite a bit over the last 6 months, but I'm back to a more regular play schedule, and really enjoy it.

We've hung around since beta and can appreciate the development that has taken place since then. I still feel like they deserve my support, and am happy to give it.

Rolled an alt not long ago, bought mount upgrades, bank upgrades and bag upgrades at higher gold costs. Can also use them crowns to buy motifs, for me it's cheaper to buy with real money than with gold. I can't buy gold, but I can buy stuff that would cost a LOT of gold :D

Makes sense. Of course I don't do any of that. I just use the resources in the game, but, with the 12K gold I have sitting there, maybe I should invest in something. :)

I can't see how it's controversial to have the votes public.

This was my vote: I buy Crowns to buy items in the Crown Store including DLC

I don't feel the game should have my subscription, plus I feel crown purchase of things are more worth while as you'll lose all the DLC stuff and extras that came with the subscription as soon as you unsubscribe, thus the DLCs will end up being much more expensive than if you just bought them with crowns. Unless of course you repurchase the DLCs with the monthly Crown allocations, to solidify ownership.

For me to go subscription, ESO would have to be what I originally hoped for, "Skyrim with friends". Sandpark game with full persistent data retention and no phasing at all or different instances of the world. Basically EVE in Elder Scrolls format with the sandpark model applied instead of full on sandbox.
