Seems practical to me. Maybe it is just because I have balls I'd like them to protect though. Same principple that goes into protective ball-wear in sports. Keep ma' family jewels safe!

    Ah, sorry. hope this helps.

I prefer the pic on the right - the one with the flap. The left one would be ok if it didnt have the side leather bits coming down over the thigh.

But, sometimes armor flaps do look ridiculous, and it would be nice to have an option to tear them off and fling them into the camp fire. Different armor templates is always a good idea too :D

if the costumes can have Flaps, they can have CLOAKS

Cloaks have to not clip with the back armour, shoulders, tails etc. And on top of that its more stuff to render.

Flaps have to not clip with my

Are they wearing aprons on their pants in sports?

My main issue with flaps is that the design team is obsessed. There's no reason some of the styles can't eliminate the silly aprons. I mean...seriously...what self respecting assassin wears all these useless dangling apron bits?

Agreed. So they like butt flaps... that doesnt mean they have to put them on every damn thing. Add some variety to armor design. Some sets would really look much better without them. Or give flaps a toggle like the helmet (just dont link the helmet and the flaps in the same toggle.)

I agree there should be a choice, why not have more options for customization? And while it does make sense given the medieval style armor, I agree it seems excessive to have every armor set have them, with all these different styles I don't see why some of them can't try to actually be different. Some armor I think looks better with them, but for others I'd definitely choose to hide them given the choice, my current armor most definitely included.

It has ugly non-dyeable spikes and most of dyes dont work on this style.
And side flaps are still there.

No. It doesn't have butt or crotch flaps, but it does have great hulking tassets floating in midair far far away from the character's hips. Bosmer armor gets the tassets at level 26 (I think), after which i don't think anything changes except the color for 24 reg levels and 16 vet levels.

I agree, they are completely addicted to these ugly flappy bits. They stick them on everything. Neither the butt flaps, the crotch flaps, nor the floating tassets have any place whatsoever on any light armor and little place on medium armor. I hate to break it to the Devs, but nobody is fooled by a few floating shoulder pads and other junk, we can all tell the armor is a paint job and not something we wear. A little bit of variety might be nice.

What they really need to do is make the Tassets part of the belt, I think they are meant to be part of the belt. As well should be. That is a belt piece and should not be forced apon the armor itself, it would be great if they changed this.
I think its needed for them to make it part of the belts. I know some armors will have cliping on the butt and the sides and thats why they added them to try and hide that but I think most of us would prefer some clipping with pants while moving then to have flags not being part of the belt piece and the belt piece lol, not going around your waist it is like it is glued to your stomach.

[snip] we demand that the flapping cease at once, and that anymore flapping is strictly prohibited.

    #nomoreflaps

THIS. Make it at minimum an optional we can toggle like mount additions.

    Little history lesson:

    1) most armies this game is influenced by, were made up of peasants or lesser nobles. LOTS of spears and Pike's and archers.
    2) plate was super heavy, and mostly used on horseback. Only nobles could afford due to heavy costs.

    Now onto the style examples:

    1) Swiss pikemen: back in the day they known for being beast defenders, so much that they became the Pope's personal guard. Most Swiss pikemen were mercenaries though

    2) English longbowman: peasants mostly. Trained at a young age, every Sunday was suppose to learn to fire his bow. Used a particular stance and fore rotation therefore only light armor used. Famous for defeating heavy French knights in a few battles.

    3) Vikings: I don't think I need to explain to you milkdrinkers why.

    viking-01a.jpg

    4) Turkish/Ottoman/equptian: mostly had elite units with horseback units: Mameluke warriors (slave warrior caste) and Janissary ranks (students who used guns ). First to use gunpowder as a seige weapon.

    5) Japanese samurai: we know these guys :)

    Samurai_with_sword.jpg

    6) Scottish: yes they had armor and didn't pickup their Kelts like Mel Gibson did. Wore yellow during war for Independence (go team Templar!) Super awesome claymore swords !

    7) women knights: let's face it, back then women were regularly considered inferior to men. But today, we value all humanity (all genders) as equal parts in a moving machine. With that spirit in mind here's well designed women armor (notice lack of boob armor/skin showing? Yea cause a blade will cut through the curves like butter.
