I hate to be that guy (actually I don't) but what is the point of this item? You can buy the styles materials already from the Crown Store, or from other players, or from merchants. You know what would have been cool? If this item had allowed you to take a piece of armor that was already made and transfer it to a style you already know.

@eventide03b14a_ESO When this item goes live, all other style materials will be removed from the Crown Store, and will thus become tradeable in-game.

I wonder if all the Crown purchased items from before the Update are converted when the Update comes out.

Probably not; I don't think there's a technical difference between Crown-purchased Malachite and refined Malachite from shards, otherwise there would be no reason for refined Malachite to be bound. I would assume all previous Malachite would stay bound, and all newly-refined Malachite would be unbound. I can't see them suddenly unbinding everyone's current Malachite.

A little feedback now that it has gone live:

Price wise I see the 1200g/26 medium pack as the sweet spot. It's enough for a couple of sets, not too expensive, and gets 2 extra stones over buying 2 x 600g/12. The large pack 2400g/54 only get you another 2 stones over buying to medium packs and that's a lot of stones unless you are crafting lots of sets. If you really want to tempt people into buying the larger sets make it 2400g/60 stones.

I'm surprised I have not seen a lot of angry posts from people who have worked very hard for laurels and such. Doesn't bother me but I have not put in all that effort. OTOH I guess they can sell them now.

    Some questions I have :

Are mimic stones a Crown store exclusive item or is it also possible (but, I guess, very rare) to get it in-game ?

Is there some lore background for the Mimic Stones ? Adding a material that is able to "mantle" the properties of any other material will probably have some implications to other parts of the lore.

What are these stones, and where do they come from? What are their alchemical properties? Are they some kind of stem cells of the mineral world? Are they somehow linked to chaotic creatia?
They are a bit reminiscent of the albino spider, able to "specialize" by acquiring properties of nearby minerals. Are the two linked? What would happen if a colony of albino spiders grew next to a mimic stone vein?
    My characters:

Disappointed with this I thought it would allow you to craft items you dont know, whats the point in spending real money to buy things like this to make say merc armour when now you can trade and sell things like laurels

Majorly upsetting. The very limited description made me think i could craft a piece in any style regardless if i know the motif or not. I only learn i was wrong after spending money.

Now i have to still go find the motif i want, which is nearly impossible since no one is selling it. But hey at least i have these currently useless stones...
