Sporadic salty death thread confurmed
Nah that was pretty funny though
I always had this opinion as well and I welcomed the PvE element, but the idea of area promoting single target play and punishing AoE is way too intriguing to ignore for me.Nah, I personally love the added danger of the mobs in IC, it becomes a "dump the aggro" minigame.
Oh and if a NB lures you through all the mobs on purpose and you blatantly fall for his trap then really - you deserved to die.
I never chase gankblades in IC, I will just wait for him to summon the courage to attack me again, which doesn't really happen 60% of the times, because if he had to spend all the fight to cloak and run - he knows very well he has no chances at all and I count that as a win for me (for my personal ego at least).
I'm fine with IC - the only thing we need is actual PvP objectives like originally promised in '14 QuakeCon - that would make the zone have actual meaning and bring in players - right now It's a complete ghost town even during prime hours in Azura..
Objectives would be great, and would really top IC off nicely. Population in there has its moments. I mean last night there was so many people my FPS was sitting at 10. It was like a slideshow in the Temple district, which seems to have the most action because the mobs are more spread out. This is also what I mean.. PVPers generally don't want to see mobs, they just want to fight other players. That's why the Temple district is so successful.I'm fine with IC - the only thing we need is actual PvP objectives like originally promised in '14 QuakeCon - that would make the zone have actual meaning and bring in players - right now It's a complete ghost town even during prime hours in Azura..

Damn you must be lucky. Every time I go there at best I find a duo/trio farm group, haven't seen an actual "zerg" in ages.
I think IC is fine as it is. You have to be very strategic to move around, especially if you're solo. They are supposidly going to make the areas capture/defend by faction to make it more interesting for pvp. Not sure if I agree it will do what they say it will. I think it will just end up with the areas perma locked and you won't be able to move between them.
Currently I find IC the best place to PVP, because there's no running across the map, no lag, pretty good rewards. It's just great. The downside to this magical place is the insane amount of mobs that want to claw your face off.
The Problem
I was chasing a Nightblade through the district. The scum was cloaking past all the angry mobs, and I turn around to find this
Yeah. I had pulled half the districts hostile NPCs with me. Just before I took this shot I had killed 3 mage NPCs while the Nightblade got away.
In that particular district it's near impossible not to get aggro because there wasn't enough room to run around them.
Same goes with the sewers - there are some places where you can't run to without some mobs trying to bash your head in. Oh, but Nightblades can. Just run away, cloak and wait for you to collect a few mobs.
The Solutions
Pick one, or come up with your own.
- Decrease the detection radius of hostile mobs dramatically so you can scoot around them if you wish
- Make them all neutral. This will cause people to play more tactically. If that magblade attempts to spam prox det on you in a 1v1, just run near a group of mobs and let him aggro them all, then use that to your advantage. If you attack just one mob in a group, the group would obviously become hostile as well.
I had another idea to reduce the number of mobs, but that would hinder farmers. The other two solutions means people can still PVE as normal, and those just looking for PVP can PVP without having to do a trial just trying to find a player to kill.

Wait, you called the NB scum why? Because he didnt let you kill him? My,oh my. Personally,I applaud the NB for being able to outrun a ganker. If you arent in a PvP battle with your friends against enemies, you shouldnt be annoyed because someone outplayed you and you couldnt get their loot.

I gotta say kudos to the NB for suckering you into chasing him into a mob.
The waiting by the door business is kinda cheesy. But when there is only one way in and someone can just stake it out IMO that is poor design of the area.

On a serious more note tho, even if the mobs are yellow, I'm pretty sure that the nightblade can aggro them, cloak and the mobs will go for a different target (you)

Yellow mobs would work like an idiot detector.

Spamming AOE?
Standard NB detection method, isn't it?

PVP zone with PVE is not balanced right imho
How about erase all the mobs upstairs in the district except for the bosses?

That's actually a pretty good example of why the number of mobs in IC is stupid. I usually get caught out dumping my caltrops, and then a mob just happens to walk by and spawn on top of them.
Removing the mobs upstairs would be interesting, but would have to wait until we've got more objectives in the districts. With no mobs to farm, everyone in the districts would be PVPers with no stones, so fighting would just be pointless. Just an endless slaughter of people ressing and jumping back down.
