Why did YOU create a Templar?

Templars have three very unique skill lines which allow a player to fill any role in ESO with some success. Wrobel made some comments on the 2/12 ESO Live that shed some light on the direction he thinks the Templar class is moving. This poll is for anyone who currently plays a Templar as their main character or anyone who previously mained a Templar. Why did you Templar?

I take the humble option. Templars are/were able to tank and heal at the same time.

^ except the heavy armor wearing part. Heavy armor offers my magica build no benefit over light, but yes I wanted to be the healer and help my fellow party members.

I wanted to be a heavy armor tank, who can off-heal.

Our tanking is now subpar (too many nerfs to our shields) and our healing is taking a hit... so I'm not very happy.

Though honestly I would have chosen option A. and/or C. Those appeal to me very much. I dont wanna be a turtle. :'(

Also, if @Wrobel wants us to "stand in our house" I have one question for him... I am the Savior of Nirn, I have defeated all my foes and earned riches beyond a mere mortals comprehension. WHY IS "MY HOUSE" SO SMALL? At least throw us a bone and make it the size of cleanse so we can, idk, roll dodge or something.

I chose option A because it was the closest approximation. I had the Roman Legion in mind with my character, as well as the theme of the Imperial Legion from previous TES Games. Among this concept was the fact that Stuhn/Stendarr Is known as the patron of Justice and and the Imperial Legion. The skill line looked and sounded like something inspired by both, so I was well on my way with that concept. WIth bonuses to blocking and breaking blocks, it just seemed great for a tank warrior, or a healing warrior.

March 2014 and I read all desriptions for the classes, saw how gorgeous my High Elf looked in Heavy Armour and a badass 2 hand weapon, pictured her as holy Crusader/Knight/Paladin with heals and clicked create. Then did the same in April and have had her since.

2,200 hours of gameplay later it was evidently a bummer.

During the beta, I played a nord sorc .... I saw those flashy "Oooh shiny" skills of templars and I got enchanted Q.Q

I thought it was Dragonknights though, so when ESO released I created an imperial DK with 1 axe and shield I managed to loot from Coldharbour, and at lvl 7 I realized that Puncture is a very bad skill to kill with >.< I made my first templar after that..

Since the reason I wanted to play one isn't listed, I will just comment.

I wanted to be a priestish light armor healer/buffer, that while kind of squishy could shield to absorb damage. While the class was kinda that at the beginning, minus the shielding, it is no where near it now.

    Honestly, a combination of 3 and 4.

Specifically, I wanted a well rounded class I could solo with and that also would be a good healer in groups. (I had planned on a templar for my second character, but from beta it looked like templars would not launch without some nerfs, so I went with a DK which felt like a powerful class at the time. I also first rolled my tank character as a temp, but soon rerolled as a DK too.)

When I started, I had based my build off a holy paladin, 5 piece heavy, 2 light, 1h & shield plus resto staff. Hybrid at the time, I perfected what I would call a heal tank. Focus rune on top of purifying ritual plus some healing springs and healing ward. Remembrance on top of all that when I got low on magic for breath of life.

Today it's 5 piece light, all about the regen when healing dungeons, raw power when healing/fighting in PvP. I have two modes on my DPS bar, 1v1 for when I'm out in the field, it consists of a lot of quick casts so I can move quickly in a fight. Slower casts meant for group damage against blobs, I just need to stay out of the train's path.

I had a Paladin kind of thing in mind, heavy armour warrior with healing and buffing capabilities. I've stuck to the plan, but the game hasn't made it easy for me. ESO as it stands tends to favour offensive builds massively over defensive ones IMHO.

It's funny how many people are mentioning this 'wrobel' person all of a sudden.

    I assume he/she is a streamer/YouTube'r.

I wish people could form their own opinions without having to use someone else's thoughts.

I love ESO, and that's why I don't watch it on twitch or YouTube (well, we've all used YouTube for treasure maps).

Streamers do ruin games for a lot of people unfortunately, needless to say it is NOT their intention to do so, but it is true. People should just play the game and be happy we have such an open and diverse world, without the opinions of a few polluting the forum.

I'm sorry if I offend anyone by saying this, but it's just how I feel from seeing the forums lately.

I miss the option "I wanted a class that everyone is crying about so I can hide my skilllessness behind awful coding". No offense but this crying is starting to annoy me, everything Templars needed was getting there Skills fixed and that's what they got for the most part. Also you got a damage buff, what else is there u want?
Templars are awesome, probably the most unique class of all.
Also this is PTS... There will be more changes coming.

After watching many Templars tank and heal while running dungeons I thought to myself "That looks like a fun challenge!" and decided to roll a Magicka Templar.

According to the changes on PTS this feat will now go from a fun challenge to something that may not be achievable at all. Healers might have to actually focus on what they're doing. Most, if not all, of the dungeons at this point are laughable when it comes to difficulty so being able to Heal/Tank may still work. We shall see.
