How text chat would be good in dungeon? Are you really gonna type out how a boss mechanics work to some noob? Voice chatting is faster and more efficient than typing.

One feature I already look forward to turning off.

It just will become a big troll fest. People who think they are leaders wont shut up and the exp pvpers are already and guilds and likely wont pay much attention to text chat.... You may get some coordinated pug armies but probably not.

Like I mentioned above, the increased communication will put more people in the hot areas in Cyrodiil so they need to anticipate the lag effect of increased population in a small area. It is already very bad right now when you have Zerg vs Zerg, so this needs to be looked at as a priority while it is still in testing phase. All zones other than Cyrodiil don't have nearly as high of a population so they should be fine.

This is the ONLY downside that I am seeing from text chat as every other aspect of the game will benefit dramatically.

Combat text with TG. Text chat with DB.

Text chat is good for zone chat and large-scale guild chat
The built-in voice chat is good for groups and dungeons.

Consoles will now have the best of both worlds. They'll have the same text chat as their PC counterparts, but won't have to go set up kludgy Teamspeak servers to get voice chat.

Exactly! voice chat is far more tactical. Keeps your eyes on the targets and not on the chat box, no need to remove your hands from the controls to type. Lol you don't have to worrie about understand other players quick text terms just talk and move.

You can speak to a few people in a small area.

You can't ask a question in a given zone (we spent many hours on here when console launched answering basic things, and correcting misinformation, over and over because they had no way to spread information.)
You can't coordinate an entire Alliance in Cyrodiil or communicate enemy movements.
You can't ask for groups in a zone.
You can't ask for help in a zone.
You can't do your own trading in a zone.
You can't RP very well, most of them prefer text.

It's going to make your game and social activities much easier.

Best of all, it's optional for you and you won't be losing anything just gaining a method to communicate to a larger area.

Yes but tactically speaking voice chat while in combat is far superior to text. I look forward to a mixture of both

Not trolling at all. It's not hard to get into a guild. The amount of times and i mean daily people spamming my toon with guild join requests in unreal. Either you're in crap guilds with no active members or you've upset someone imo. The game has been rolling long enough to get into decent guilds. Trading guilds well you kind of had that coming by not pve'ing. It's where they started at the undaunted site gathering people up for pledges and they expanded. Just trotting about on a horse spamming mutagen for ap isn't getting you into a guild. Same goes for anyone just randomly coming up to me and trying to trade...no thanks. I have no interest and no serious players are entertaining people trying to flog stuff or make friends because they were too stupid or cool for school to use a bloody mic and miss the boat...and now cry for text chat....guess we just need a make a friend section on this forum really..would solve your problem altogether wouldn't it.
Leave the people who actually enjoy being social and not hiding behind words and keyboards alone.

Still no valid point in ur post. I think mic is great in fact I love it but txt chat makes other things easy that a mic can't do. I'm in 2 trading guild 500 members each in prime spot but sometimes I just want to ask in zone if someone wants something mail it and make gold with out leaving pvp. I play in morning when not a lot of guild members are on this will make finding a group that's doing something fun a lot easier then running up to random ppl asking "hey party pls hey party pls" wait they not on area chat they can't hear me. Also txt chats good bc crap I got ganked let me tell the area real fast that someone is here then guess what a small group of ppl come and kill the ganker woot! Try that with ur voice chat XD

This is not taking away ur voice chat in anyway I'm starting to think that's what you feel like omg my voice chat is being replaced by txt chat, news for you buddy it's not just adding a feature that can help out

Yeah the problem that you have with people not being in area chat could also happen when people toggle the chat box off

I came from closed BETA on PC...lag wasn't an immediate problem during closed beta.
As the EU server came and when we went live, the NA server for PC didn't have a lot of issues at all but the EU folks did have concerns.

When ZOS added the major lighting patch right after launch with-in 60 days the entire NA and EU servers began experiencing a lot of lag. ZOS made changes, edits, adjustments but largely they told us the cause was too many messages.

Some of us, if not all of us occasionally get error messages pop-ups on consoles when in towns or interacting with vendors and guild bank stores which are messages.

EVEN while I type this, I keep getting a pop-up that the ZOS server is over capacity on its forums which went down yesterday for a while.

Respectfully, my comment is not attacking anyone who wants text chat, it is addressing that each time more items that user server side "messages" the lag as we see it increases. ZOS and others think its add-on related, or this or that. One thing for sure....the lag error message is related to "messages" so until ZOS confirms and has a solid response, I'm only suggesting that its likely, that LAG will get worse.

ZOS has recently added and made hardware and software changes to its servers....PTS is an example of, what seems to be more lag rather than less. Its logical to draw conclusions that consoles will also have similar impacts.
*Hopefully this post lands on the server....even tho the forums should be a different server, ZOS has issues that are getting worse by the quarter on their forums and within their game servers whether its first party or third party
