I just booted from the server for breaking the message limit, according to the error message I got...only I wasn't sending any messages. Has this happened to anyone else?

at one point there was an old bug that would do that... lets hope its not coming back

If the server is lagging this will happen. When it catches up, so much info is sent at one time, the server thinks you are spamming and kicks you. Probably happened to everyone that plays. I had this happen about a month after the game was released. Nothing to worry about. Just the servers being snippy today.

It happens, if you use activate or talk to someone too many times in a minute you get booted for sending too many messages to the server. So if you try to flip a switch and the server lags and try it again and it doesn't work by the time the server catches back up its like you hit that button 20 times and it will force you out for too many messages. I learned this is a public dungeon because the thing wasn't working but i thought i wasnt doing it right. It's not a bug its just protection

I got booted for using wyykyd's addons to toggle my helmet on and off too many times. It said I was spamming. XD

You can also get booted for "spamming messages" if there's lag and you press the E key to open a door or interact with an object too many times. It happened to me a few times in the EU server when I was testing a new character build.

This is definitely a part of it and a good post to highlight. If you run into a connection hiccup or if the server experiences a hiccup, all of the commands that you enter between the disconnection and reconnection are a "message." When everything catches up, all of those messages get sent at once, and you get kicked for the message rate limit.

A very large majority of the time, this issue occurs with with back-end messages that aren't visible to you as opposed to chat spam. For instance, if your character gets stuck in the terrain and they're clipping between two different locations very quickly, or if you fall through the world, you're sending more location information to the server than the average player. These issues can generally be resolved by relogging or using /stuck, but if you're getting this every time you log in, please reach out to customer support so they can place your character in a safe location!

The issue can also be caused by using multiple add ons that request a lot of information from the server. This is very, very rarely the case, but we've seen it happen in the past. If you notice that this happens a bunch and you're running a ton of add ons, try disabling them and you'll likely see an improvement to your stability.
