I pvp a lot now, so I changed mine to Molten whip for extra DMG.
Considering I run Flames of oblivion, Burning embers and my whip on one bar, that is a ton of DPS.
i love my flame lash, but for the DPS I gave it up.

Make sure to keep talons up as much as you can. Flame Lash will proc much more often than you think.
I've always used Molten. I'm going to change up my morph now.
So when Flame Lash procs, are there any clear visuals to indicate the proc? Sounds, visual?
Yes, the Flame Lash icon on your skill bar will light up and change into a different icon, very noticeable.
The flame lash heal will proc after a talons hit or fossilize hit, so keep those going and you'll get an easy 7.5k+ heal every 5 seconds.
Important note: be aggressive as a DK. Keep taloning and whipping.

This one haz it right.
Before you mention Flame lash in PvE:
- Yes if you're solo, because you'll take hits and this one heals you to almost full against trash mobs, tho you have Deep breath if you really need to heal while still doing damage against groups of mobs
- Not in group play as DD, because mag DKs relies on rotating DoTs, including Burning embers and Engulfing Flames, which is a small boost to overall DPS. Also, you won't be able to proc Power lash on most bosses.
Sorry tp gatecrash, but there seems to be a lot of magics DKs here. So I have a question.
My magics Dk is like level 30. When of eventually pvp with it, what would I be best off using as my cc?
Petrify or one of the stone fist morphs?
I know Petrify is a longer cc, but doesn't it break when they take so much damage?

i'm going for Lash cause 32 extra damage Molten gives is useless, Dark Elf Heavy Armor sword & shield Magic build, Lava Whip (later to Lash) Burning Embers & Engulfing Flames, 1 skill will be stam skill, Shield bash, so far its worked out well, it won't hurt to have 2 skills with heal, like u said lash heal won't work on some bosses, cause stun/off balance effects wont work on them, so i'm like mage DK, just with not staff & not with light armor, & DPS is good

The reason you want petrify for your PvP CC is that unlike stone fist, it can not be blocked. The duration is irrelevant really, everyone will break out of it instantly anyway.
Not when they have no stamina though. On my other classes and builds, once you waste someone's stam you cc and can do as much damage as you can before they die or regen enough stam to break free.
That's why I'm not sure which would be best. See what I mean?

Dpeneds on what you call "good DPS", but i can tell you...with heavy armor and s/B your DPS isn't good compared to a light armor magicka-DK. Btw it's not 32 extra damage it's 101 extra Spelldmg for the following skills: Whip, burning embers, Engulfing, Flames of Oblivion, Banner (for me it means: ~4k Spelldmg instead of ~3.9k). So 5 of your hardest hitting abilities get a buff, you can't compensate that anywhere in Group-PvE, especially in heavy armor and with S/B.
But anyways, flame lash is better for pvp bc you get a nice heal

compared to sorc its better (DPS part, sorc more burst), i know light armor passives help, but light armor char is meant to fight long range, dies easy short range, well not sorc cause he has good shield/ward, absorbents more dam then DK shield

same question here. maybe i ll try to have both stone fist/other stun and fossilize, fossilize first to deplete the stam and go through block, then when he s out of stam stonefist to lock him in stun and beat the hell out of him. that would be the plan

i don't want to turn this into a "oh look at my DPS thread" but you can't come close to magicka DK without light armor and without light/medium attack weaving...but anyways...tell me your DPS (maybe with ftc-spreadsheet) and we'll see
Light Armor doesn't have anything to do with ranged or close combat. I play a light-armor DK and i'm usually in close combat and don't use any shields. If you die in close combat, your movement is just bad....not the armor.
