Normally, I'm against any game functionality that can be achieved by using a credit card. So yeah, I'm against riding lessons, for example.

But Zeni has already opened the door. And even thought they haven't said it, we know what's coming, right?

If Zeni is perfectly willing to sell glass motifs (cosmetic, remember ... right) and riding lessons (cosmetic?) and the experience scrolls, it will only be a matter of time before they sell .... wait for it ....

Champion points. Packs of 10. 1000 crowns.

I hate it ... but I think it's going to happen.

Packs of 10?- In your dreams maybe, but I doubt it will be more than 1 per 1000 crowns.

ESO isn't dying at all, the entry level zones are packed with people at prime time. What is probably dying is the hardcore PvP and I am not even sad about it after what I read on the forums about what type of people are playing like this. I won't miss them at all, if they would be gone, and I guess most would be quite happy if there would be an end to these unfruitful debates on the forum about imbalances. The whole point of having classes and different races is to be different and that means not to be in balance, but different. This is roleplay, people are different in real life, why the heck should they be equalized in a game?-

Those specific items you mention, I'm not interested in being in crown store i feel that its fundamental to your character and should not be short cut as a P2W option.

What i would like is an additional way to earn mages skill line experience, unlocked after finishing the MG questline.
Ii can go around hunting lore books, but on Console with no addons it is a chore, and most websites haven't updated their references in years, so some lore books are still not able to be found until i am in the gold area, even though i know they must have counter parts in other silver/starting areas.

I'm not an ideas man, but id suggest something like
    • daily quests given out from an NPC at Eeyevea. Having to kill a delve/dungeon/world boss and take a book or artifact of power back to Eyevea.Especially now where future content will level to your level.
    • or maybe i have to do further quests to improve Eyevea, and help it recover from what occured in the MG quest.
    • or simply killing magicka weilding spell casting bad guys has a chance to drop a consumable book, (increased if its a boss) which will tick off a missing MG lore book from my library.

Maybe lack of time is why people ask those. Times are grim and gotta keep every player possible playing.

The idea of convenient items goes years back, it was solution to HC and Casual debate, devs just couldnt give OP stuff to HC players, so instead of convenient items were better solution.

I am very much against all of it, the motifs...

But the thing that got me livid was the bag space & bank space!

I mean you aren't suppose to max that in a day or a week it should take a casual player months - years.

Now you can just swipe daddy's credit card.

I farmed a motif for weeks / months to get it. A couple of months later? Oh wait let me just buy it no need to farm bro.

I am fine with the experience potions but all of these other things that assist people and are not cosmetic? I am 100% against!

Take the Daedric motif, Imperial motif price drops they are direct results caused by this economic interference.

Also due to people not having to buy bag / bank space they have more cash which also alters the economy by inflating other things...

No thank you - P2W is just sad. If you like/love the game then play it!

I can just about live with some of the convenience items that are already sold through Crown Store (motifs, backpack and mount upgrades, etc), because they are mostly cosmetic or only benefit the user, without having any overpowered "win" aspect. However, they also have potions, foods, and soul gems, which are kinda P2W in regards to it actually helps you in game.

Some may argue that we are already at the point of no return. But I beg to differ. The most important thing they keep away from the Crown Store IMO is anything to do with leveling up (like CP, skill points, auto to a specific level, etc). I don't mind people forking over cash to Zeni for wanting exp potions and such, because they are also craftable in-game, but adding "winning" features that you can only acquire through Crown Store would surely be the coming of the end.....

If they add it i fear they will make them harder to get without paying real money like mount upgrades (limited to once a day) or bagpack (costs more than its actuall worth) so no. Cosmetics and DLC should be the only thing sold for real money

I just want to point out that mount/riding trading timers and the price of bag/bank space has not changed since the game came out. So them being on the crown store did not make any of them "harder" to get.

The only thing that changed was that when they changed mount training to riding skill trading, the leveling limit went from 50 "feedings" to 180 "lessons"

This is the problem with the word "convenience". Anything can be considered a "convenience" if looked at from a certain angle. For me, it's all about reward vs effort. You shouldn't be able to pay for something to get the reward and skip all the effort. That's why I never want to see Gold, Insta-Leveling, or CP in the Crown Store.

Then you have things which are on the line; Getting WW/Vamp bites in-game requires minimal effort, and you have to miss out on the quest rewards if you buy in the store. XP scrolls reduce the time taken to get XP, but you still have to put in the effort to get that XP, as a multiplier of nothing is still nothing.

Anything that costs gold in-game (from potions and food, through to motifs and bag space) will be affected in some way if it ends up in the Crown Store, usually by impacting the economy. So what if the things aren't tradeable themselves? They have an impact on their in-game equivalents which are tradeable, as less people will buy them.

While I understand that they need to make money and having convenience items/cosmetics in the game is required to keep the game running there are ones which should never be touched which you have brought up. I think there is plenty of options which they haven't even touched on yet that won't make the game P2W but add a lot of options for the community to invest in the company.

    This poll is biased.

MMO industry is a heavy money-reliant one.

If you think convenience items are P2W, my only thought is this is your first MMO.

Instead of simply giving negative feedback, why don't you give us an example of how should ZOS make money?

If you ran a MMO, and had to earn money to keep it alive and growing, what would you sell?
Subscription is not an option, TESO has been down that road.

Alot of us are Ex-wow players and are playing this game because of nostalgia of the TES way back in the day. Simply put we Want Quality, we want the vanilla wow experience of epic battles, organization, and earning every scrap of gear we can put together. I realize alot of people don't remember the days before p2w and the whole free to play model and shamlessly shoving holiday themed gear and sales coupons everywhere in game. But some of us have witnessed the fall... Once a game goes free to play... the game becomes money hungry, bug fixes are ignored...because u can't package and sell bug fixes, and the share holders and board members start demanding more content for sale...and slowly but surly the quality goes low..the prices go high, and bugs are just paved on top of and become "features"

First of all... Some things that are mentioned in the OP are just plain ridiculous, even if someone is shameless enough to ask for those things, ZOS certainly won't put those things in the CS.
So far they have shown to be careful (with certain exceptions) with what they put in CS and I like to trust them to continue that way.

Now that we have that covered: there is absolutely no way for a MMORPG model that does not rely on subscriptions to make money without affecting the game economy.
    NO WAY.

All the complains here are basically reduced to exactly that: "Economy".
Or in other words, players feel like they are cheated for a big chunk of gold they would have made if the game didn't have certain items in CS.

Well guess what? I for one know that a big part of the player base are casual working class men.
They don't have time to grind for exp or gold so they in turn take their wallet out to achieve something that could be probably achieved in time or bought by gold.

There are plenty of ways for a TESO player to earn gold.
IMHO, motif farming is the most tedious of them all.

As long as the items in the CS affect economy only, I can live with that. I have played a MMORPG with a P2W cash shop.
Let me tell you, it's not pretty.

It devalues my entire playtime. If someone can just come in and buy a spot where i am after 6 months then i would quit. It's bad enough it rains champion points for them that i had to earn each one the hard way. I don't want to see people throwing money around to get special treatment. Enough of that IRL everything you see me with i earned myself with effort. IRL too

Why should I have to waste my time playing a game? I work dammit, I should be able to just buy levels and other stuff that normally takes time, skill, or a small amount of effort to get.

I dont mind riding upgrades as they do nothing for t he player other than his horse goes faster.Same with the other two riding skills. However, any other items that give levels, or any of the things in the OP mentioned I am against.ESPECIALLY leveling up and mats. These a re an integral part of the game and s hould remain so.
    The lore books are too.
Why even buy a game to play if you have no plans to play it?
