ESO still has too many "tame" scenes.
From "badly wounded" NPCs who just hold their belly, but have no blood or wounds visible; to mandatory bras (which generally weren't really a thing during the periods most associated with fantasy RPG setups); from the game offering "Corpses" in only "looks like sleeping" and "skeletal or charred husk" while skipping all the gruesome possibilities in between; to the game stopping at vague hints when it comes to any naughty stuff; from a general lack of logical results for non-yestiges to engage in medieval warfare (aka, people with lost limbs); to the nonexistence of toilets overlooking that theoretically our characters -would- have body functions...
...
Actually....there are chamber pots you can steal in the Ledgermaine line. Since ESO is a pseudo-medieval and magical setting it makes sense there wouldn't be bathrooms and plumbing as we are used to. There WOULD be chamberposts and...since everything is so darn clean in the cities...one imagines there must be some sort of magical sanitation process going on. I'm fine with that.
Magical sanitation? What if mages have made it a practice to open up portals and they just throw human waste through? They're not concerned where the stuff goes, it just goes away. And then we could have a quest line that could take us to this oblivion plane of poo.
I don't think it's as serious as that. It's a form of morals and empathy. It's not weird to play your character and make choices that you would if it was you. I play the game this way. I think I have a lot of empathy. And even if it is only game characters, I can still feel guilty if I accidentally choose the wrong option and the wrong person gets killed or sacrificed. But that's just in that moment, I'm not going to be upset about it forever. I don't think this means I need professional help... I know the difference between reality and fantasy.MornaBaine wrote: »ESO is... a virtual game in a fantasy world that has nothing to do with our world...

I disagree with you, eso may be virtual thing or your character in tamriel but still your brain process the data in real world and still you experience that stuff virtual or not. Its just your extension.
If you view your character in a video game as a legitimate extension of yourself and literally experience emotional upset over the things you do in a video game you need some professional level help in identifying the difference between fantasy and reality.
So yes to the OPs question, I have only been bothered by it when I accidentally make a bad choice and the innocent person gets killed or sacrificed. I feel sad or guilty. But only temporarily. It doesn't mean there's anything wrong with the game though.

What I wear to the office is a far cry from what I wear to a night out at a fetish club. Why shouldn't our characters have the same latitude?
I think that would be displaced in ESO - there are more than enough Korean games, which do it like that, but that is not the kind of game I would want to play in. I am just thinking of what people make out of a single-player game like Skyrim with mods, which allow that. Half naked or naked school girls or anime like characters in Skyrim, that is ridiculous, but because it is private, they can do that of course. Really?
So you'd say you shouldn't be emotionally affected by a book or a film, or any piece of art? If you can feel some attachment for a character in a book then why not for a character in a game? Particularly if your actions affect them.
In fact I'm pretty sure a lot of psychiatrists would argue that not being able to emphasize with characters (or having the ability to switch off empathy) is evidence of psychopathic tenancies.
Yep completely agree with you. I remember one quest, I can't remember the name or location now, but there was an argonian that was trying to impress the elves with his poetry or song, and I think if you tell him the wrong things to say (probably didn't read the book right), they hate him and then he ends up getting killed. He was just trying to be successful. Still remember that one and it annoys me.dodgehopper_ESO wrote: »I don't think it's as serious as that. It's a form of morals and empathy. I've done this as well. My Nightblade is a shadowscale so he plays the more quick and dirty fighting style where anything goes. My Templar on the other hand when I ran the story had a singular mistake I remember, where I clicked the wrong option, and it had an exact opposite result of what I was expecting (either that or it was a missclick I can't recollect). It wasn't until later that I realized I could have started the quest over (I probably wouldn't have though) if I abandoned and started it over. I understand the state of mind here though. We're part of the storytelling process when we play the game and it is annoying when you feel as though the story doesn't give you proper options, or worse the result seems wildly opposite of what you chose. I also agree that having empathy with what is going on in a video game or movie is not the same as having a difficulty discerning the difference between reality and fantasy.
I kind of wish the costumes had male and female variants so if a man wears it looks one way but if a woman wears it, it looks another. One of the new costumes would be perfect if the female top was a little vest for the guy. It would be very Aladdin-esque.

I have to agree. Bloody Mess is almost a requirement, but it is silly. I shoot a guy in the arm, and his whole body explodes into meaty chunks? Its part of the history and theme of the game, you just have to go along with it, even though I agree it is pretty silly. I wouldn't pick it in fallout, but a 5% bonus to damage is really hard to pass up.

You would be mistaken. I'm not asking for spiked heels and G-strings. I absolutely don't want to see cheesy anime schoolgirls. I even poked fun at the concept art for the upcoming Dunmer costume that features thigh high stockings which are ludicrous. What I do expect are robes with necklines lower than the collar bone. Scandalous, I know! Frankly I'm FAR more annoyed by big burly Orc and Nord men prancing around in the wedding dress than I would be by an exposed thigh. The world of Tamriel is composed of many races and we know that the Dunmer at least can and do at times pretty much see sex as a sport. Hence the brothel in EP. Frankly, I'm stunned there are no brothels in the other racial areas as well. And yeah, I kinda think there should be because that sort of thing has gone on with those who use sexual reproduction as long as sexual procreation has been around. I don't play this game to indulge in "cyber" but I see nothing at all wrong with portraying some characters in scanty attire if that is indeed the sort of thing they would wear. I was happy with the dancing girls costumes that just came out and I'll be even happier when we can dye them. I bought them for the TWO of my eight characters who would actually wear that sort of thing. Now ZOS needs to get busy and come up with something in a similar vein for men. Because the inherent sexism of making revealing costumes ONLY for female characters DOES annoy the sweet bejezus out of me.

I hope you aren't getting mad at transvestites just for being themselvesbut yeah they need some more revealing for men as well I bet if she could @AlienSlof would have made like 10 that are better than anything ZOS could have made by now. I play the game with an eye towards roelplaying. Which might go that way, and if it did, I would follow - but for me its not a main focus... my characters are far more likely to wear decent armor then scanty attire, since they generally are "adventurers" of some sort, backstory wise.MornaBaine wrote: »Frankly I'm FAR more annoyed by big burly Orc and Nord men prancing around in the wedding dress than I would be by an exposed thigh. That is something which annoys me as well, across many games. ESO at least doesn't restrict these costumes to females, even though most male characters can't really "pull it off" when wearing them...MornaBaine wrote: »I was happy with the dancing girls costumes that just came out and I'll be even happier when we can dye them. There could also be a litle more blood in some parts like quests whith wounded/dying NPCs or in PvP when you get stapped/shot with an arrow

No, you should NOT be emotionally affected by a book, film, piece of art or a game...TO THE POINT WHERE YOU WANT IT DUMBED DOWN SO THAT YOU WON'T FEEL THAT WAY BECAUSE IT CAUSES YOU REAL DISTRESS. Of course we are moved by these things unless we are jaded beyond all belief. Experiencing that shows that the thing that caused it was well done. That is NOT cause to scale it back and make it bland and unaffecting, which seemed to me to be what the OP may have been suggesting. And so yes, I do think that if you are SO affected by a game, film, book or piece of art so deeply that you want it changed and watered down so you won't be....you may indeed have some trouble telling the difference between fantasy and reality or at least in developing a healthy separation between your real self and a fictional character you play. I'm a roleplayer and my characters rum the gamut from serial killers to completely good and sweet young widows. From respectably married and fully monogamous to "wild child"...and a priestess of Dibella for good measure who truly believes sex is a sacrament and would never engage in it frivolously. Hardened killers to sweetroll baking sweethearts. Strangely, -I- neither bake nor kill people. Obviously, I must be deeply mentally ill.

Aside from that, I went onto to discuss how gay I was and laughed at the entire situation.
Anyways, it turns out that somebody saw that, got their panties in a bunch, and decided to report me. It was something surprisingly immature that I wasn't expecting in a game that should be +18 only. Moral of the story? Just don't speak in zone chat. People won't be content until it is filled with nothing but copy-and-paste guild recruitment and WTS ads.
TL;DR: People on ESO are more immature than you think. Many are either trolls or tumblr SJWs who live to be offended. Beware.
