Why banned for buying and selling nirn?

Most likely case is he used his position and large amounts of gold to sell it on black market gold seller website or to certain individuals.
I find it hard to believe manipulating the market within the game without the use of 3rd parties is a bannable offense in any way even if he did collaborate with other players or guilds - it's still not a offense, it's smart play and good persuasive ability. None which are illegal AFAIK.

External sources must be in play here, that is the only thing I can think of that makes sense for a ban such as this.
    Sometimes, I dream about...cheese...

Dermont - v16 Pompous Altmer Sorcerer (With a very arrogant face!)
Egonieser - v16 Nord Stamina Dragonborn Wannabe
Endoly - v16 Tiny Redguard Sharpened MaceBlade
Egosalina - v16 Breton Cheesus Beam Specialist
Egowen - v16 Dunmer Whipping Expert (Riding crops eluded her)
(Yes, I had to grind all these to v16)
Akamanakh - lvl 22 Khajiit GankBlade (Inspired by Top Cat)
Targos Icewind - lvl 34 Imperial (Future) Jabplar

There is almost certainly more to the story than this. ZOS likely have proof of collusion between players or guilds to limit supply or not compete. Those are violations of free market principles and thus likely violations of the Terms of Service.

Actually considering he's likely the guy who bought my Nirncrux in order to keep his monopoly in tact, I have *his* gold, and more than I would have had otherwise.

I wonder how much good all that gold is doing for him now anyways?

    Ya think!?!?!?!

There is unlimited nirn. You can't control the market. You would have a hard time even affecting it.

Actually this used to be true but is no longer due to the fact crafting writs were moved to wrothgar, Nirncrux production was drastically reduced yet the demand is as strong as ever since it is still used in BiS destro staves as well as needed for research. It's a good (if shady) strategy that is likely making him heaps of gold (or was).

The number of reputable trade guilds has rapidly been shrinking in numbers and sales and the prime spots are all that will sell rare and expensive commodities so it is easy (with enough bank roll) to perform manipulation on certain extremely rare items.

There are many items I see this happening to all over. Xivkin Motif legs for instance is one.

Isn't this kind of the traders version of vma (hard content)?

Playing the market seems like a viable tactic unless he was using 3rd party software to buy up items as they are listed. It might be shady and frowned upon, but I honestly don't see anything wrong with this. Anyone can go to Craglorn and farm these nodes.

That's why I don't buy it that he was banned for stated reason. Being realistic here, most people farm gold for one sole purpose...to sell it RMT.

Hell i can name at least two people doing this on ps4 with tempering alloy and kuta. They won't be banned ever I'm willing to bet. And I won't name them i just have the ability to do so. Join a trade guild and watch the sales you will see what i mean

Did zos tell him that he got banned for monopolizing? Or did he maybe just tell you that?
I could imagine 2 reasons why he got banned:
    - he sold ingame items / gold for real money
    - he traded noticable amounts of gold with people who sold it for real money (not necessarily knowing it)

If the latter is the case, he should try to find a proove that he didn't kow about it and didn't profit from it, if the first one is true, then I'm glad he got banned.

    I'm still waiting for evidence...

As of now, it sounds more like "let me give an egoccentric reason for my ban instead of admitting my errors".

And even if that was the case, ZOS would never say that was the reason, they would come up with something else.

I don't know what you mean. Buying for the purpose of selling? Or buying/selling in the game at all? Or do you mean real life? Maybe you need to grow up your communication skills?

In the mean time, I was clearly referring to people whose sole purpose is to corner the market. I've said this many times, I'll say it again.

    - This is a game. It doesn't need to imitate life. Just because there is price fixing in real life, that doesn't have to happen in-game.

    - Real life markets have antitrust laws. Some people respond to my comments with "free market". Well, show me one. I don't know a single country where there is absolutely no goverment interference in the market, especially in cases of market failure (of which price fixing is a textbook example).

    - Price gouging hurts the game. It drives up inflation and makes highly sought after goods unavailable to poorer players, regardless of the reason - new player, casual player, someone whose playstyle doesn't net that much gold... I'm not trying to get a freebie here - I have several million gold sitting in the bank to buy myself whatever I need, thank you very much. I just wish players would consider the game as a whole instead of looking at ESO as their own private amusement park.
