At least its not lore bending seasonal themed items like those pumpkin/scarecrow costumes. Could be worse it could have Coca-Cola emblazoned across its hide wearing a Santa Hat paired with a Walking Hershey's kiss pet for 50 dollars and it is not pay to win (for an achievement hunter) motifs that unlock the crafting achievement. As far as price it is their business so they can set it as they wish. I am not saying I appreciate the overly firm grip as they milk the cow but it is what it is.

    #Ice-Bear for president.

I bought it, it's a steal with crowns being discounted. I also bought the cute little cubby. I'm with the ones who say don't like it, don't buy it. Can't afford it, don't buy it.

 I just bought the white polar bear on xbox one....cause its less than $15 in crowns which is what the other black panther mount cost me

As long as ZOS refuses to "justify" their mounts in-game... I'll refuse to buy them.

That being said... is the white bear anywhere out in the wild in Wrothgar? I haven't stepped foot in there. I've been playing Fallout 4.

Im sorry you don't understand basic math. ZOS can price items lower and sell more. Or offer more items that cost less. More people will buy. They could make more money. They have nothing to loose, being as it is digital content. They could switch back to one very expensive "exclusive" item any time.

They don't lose if those who are complaining don't buy it. There are plenty more who realize that with discounted or free crowns (sub), it is a good buy.

I gave up after seeing 1,500 crowns for a 1 time use vampire or werewolf bite.

For that price, it should be useable by all characters multiple times... Even then, I still wouldn't buy it

It's part money grab (timed rarity), but it also helps with diversity of mounts in game, too. That way every other person in the game isn't riding the same mount.

Think pre-introduction of senche mounts when you'd go to Cyrodiil and the only thing you'd EVER SEE is armies of white horses. And that one guy with the Palamino, and everyone was like "HA! Who'd pay for a Palamino..."

    Hahaha What?

I'm not getting into whether it's worth it or not or that it shouldn't be priced at the price it's retailing for, but if you think anything other than the proper dlc on the crown store is a steal (it's not), then I'm genuinely lost for words.

You don't seem to be at a loss for words. You were actually pretty close to making a full argument. Perceived value has everything to do with this discussion.

I happen to think that if we didn't have crowns to distract us from the real money value of the purchase, there would be far fewer purchases across the board.

I'm very budget conscious IRL and I set aside money for gaming so that I can spend guilt free. Picking up crowns at 40% off is a bargain, because I saved myself money on something for which I planned to pay full price. Therefore, anything I purchase with those crowns to me will feel budget priced as well.

Are the items overpriced to begin with? Yeah, I think so, but I still want them and as long as I am not exceeding my budget, it doesn't really hurt me to pay what is being asked.

Oh, this, 100% absolutely. That's why all game cash shops everywhere have you buy their "virtual currency" first, and then price all the items in the shop using that virtual currency, instead of just directly charging actual $$$ for the items.

It's not just to force people to spend more money than they need to (making the crown pack 5500 crowns when that Thing-They-Want is only 5000), it's primarily because seeing a price-tag of "1000 crowns" doesn't have the same metal impact as "$10" would.

It's the same reason the prices you see for everything end in #.99. Because even though you can very quickly determine that $39.99 is essentially the same as $40, it doesn't feel the same.

So just let me be clear, people are complaing about the price of cosmetic stuff. which you DON'T need in game it's for your enjoyment. If people (like me) want to pay the 3500 crowns for the polar bear (which i knew was comming when is saw the brown bear) and it's cub then why shouldn't ZoS charge the price for it. if they made it 1000 crowns i'm sure they would make less money on them then now.
and for the limited editions of cosmetic stuff it's just marketing. if they wouldn't do this they would lose money because people are less in a rush to buy things they like. and you are less likly to buy several crownstore items in a short window of time. this way you can be tempted to do this. you don't have to have a economic degree to get this. if people work full time like me they have no problem to cough up the money

Because they want as many ppl as possible to buy DLCs. But with the cosmetic things, they want to make as much money as possible. Different goal.

If you dont sub, then how do you think they can afford to let you log on and use their servers?

Oh, gee. I don't know. Maybe by using the $60 we shelled out up front for the disc. You know, like every other console game does.

Umm...every other console game doesn't require maintaining a server for thousands of people to play on every day. This isn't like every other console game - it requires money for you to be able to continue playing it. If a developer/publisher closes it's doors after you've purchase their game, you can still play it all you want. If ZOS closes its doors or shuts down the servers, that's it.

As for the cost of the Polar Bear mount, it's in line with everything else. Whether it's too much money depends on your situation and point of view. It's purely cosmetic, so entirely NOT necessary. The whole point of spending this kind of money is to support the game and get the kind of vanity items you like. If you don't like them or don't even see the point of them and think it's ridiculous that other people do, that's your opinion, so don't spend your money.

Basically, this is priced higher because it's a limited edition mount. They do limited editions to sell these items. I for one, have not yet purchased many of the items in the Crown Store I'd like to have because I know they'll be there for me to buy later when I feel like it. So, just putting all of these in the Crown Store for people to buy "whenever" means that most of them will sell to very few people, with everyone else who's interested just passing on them. They'll just sit in the store collecting virtual dust. So, they make some of the items limited so that people will buy them, and they're priced higher to give them more perceived value/rarity. Why, because they do need to make money (and just your $60 game purchase is not gonna maintain the servers indefinitely).

These aren't priced for what they're worth, which in reality isn't anything since they're just pixels. But, so is any video game that you purchase. The value is in the entertainment/enjoyment you get out of it. Now, granted, the entertainment/enjoyment value for a mount isn't the same and would vary from player to player, but these limited items aren't to provide you value. They are to provide you with something cool in exchange for giving them money to support the game. The Crown Store items are priced as they are to meet a bottom line, not to provide you with great items at cheap prices.

While I do think that 2500 crowns for the Snow Bear mount and 1000 crowns for the matching pet cub is a bit on the high-end, I think of it like this. If a person doesn't want something, then they simply don't buy it. Or, if they want something and can't afford it? They save up, and then get make their purchase. Problem solved -- or so you'd think. If you want what's available but said available item is limited edition, and you don't have the funds for it? You simply "move on". You don't sit there, and whine and window shop. You view that experience as a learning experience, and keep on.

I'm starting to view the whole limited edition item thing in games, as I do limited edition/rare accessories/clothing in the real world. Think of it like this: Fendi, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Versace, etc. produce what some would consider to be ridiculously expensive items. To some, the pieces from these retailers are far too expensive for simple variations in minor designs and detail variations. Yet, others still buy them. Even if they can't afford them. Why? Because, they want something "exclusive". They want what the average person would view as too expensive and too flashy. The same logic can be applied in ESO with the limited edition content, excluding the history and reputations some of these high-end brands have.

TL;DR Version: If you want it, then get it. If you want it, and can't afford it? Save for the next rare piece, and move on. If you don't want it, don't get it. Simple.

PS: Best believe I'm out here riding my polar bear mount with my little polar bear cub trailing behind in my glass armor, looking like a boss. We getting crowns in these streets. Ayy lmao. :D

Seems odd how the "white coloured" bear is more valuable then the "Brown coloured" bear, seriously what makes the white bear any more important then a brown bear that it costs so much more? I thought all colours were supposed to be equal.
