It's literally forcing me to quit

I don't know how it got so worse, and I wonder how many people it struck. I can't play this game anymore, once I get into a battle (PvP and PvE) I suddenly get a high fps drop and crazy lag. Usually it drops to 0fps and 999+ latency, till I'm death and then it gets better. In PvP it's even worse, then it can just happen anytime. There is really no scenario that this doesn't happen lately.

I thought the issue might have been on my own pc, but there's no clue this is the case. I can play any other game on ultra settings without losing any fps, except for ESO. I reinstalled the game, hoping this could fix anything but that didn't help much either.

I haven't played this game for days now, and last few times I got on and closed the game after 5min because there really isn't anything I can do. Can't pvp, can't run dungeons (people always have to 3man bossfights because I'm just standing there lagging and with fps there absolutely nothing you can do), can't complete Arena (to get rid of the fps drop and latency I have to die, so that's no use in the Arena).

I had issues with the game before but now they're really out of hand, the state of the game was pretty bad but it looks like it now struck me hard and doesn't allow me to play it anymore. This game needs to be fixed, really. Don't bother making new DLC if we have a game we can't even play.

It's really a shame, I subbed for 4 months recently (right before the attacks targetted me) but now I can't even play the game. So byebye money, byebye game. I really don't want to leave this game, I enjoy this game (even with its flaws). But if it's not working properly there's nothing for me to choose, it just literary forces me to quit this game (to my regret).

I hope this gets fixed before it'll struck more and more people, if they don't it could be the end of the game.

I hope the game gets fixed soon, so I'm not already addicted to another game and can come back to ESO.

Have you tried to lower your settings for a better performance? I did and it helped me so much.Lower your texture settings to medium. That was all I did and everything was great after that.No more swimming through mud just to walk forward in a town where other people were. You can also lower your settings for magic effects. That will help as well.

I'm sorry to hear about your problems with the game. Have you tried reinstalling the game itself? In my experience the game has a tendency to get corrupted randomly, so a reinstall may help.

Some people have also reported problems running on windows 10, this is not an ESO problem, but rather the fact windows 10 is still relatively new, and could cause some instability.

I have set the setting to minimum (which is just ridiculous for the specs I have) with addons turned off, and I can run the game easily above 60fps. It's once I get into a fight it suddenly drops to 0fps and have latency issues. So it's really not about my setting.

I have reinstalled the game, as I stated in my post. Weird thing is that I can play any other game fluently on ultra. All possible scenarios just point towards the game itself.

It is something they are working on. Watch the latest ep of ESOlive if you're curious why it happens (in PvP at least).

I think this is a new thing - I've been rolling with max settings and a solid 99fps, sometimes dropping down into the 30's or 40's for terribad multi-zerg combat situations.

Since the last patch or so I have been seeing drops down to single digit fps even in quite small scale combat.

    No changes at my end.

I had this problem lately also in some dungeons. If there is AOE and if there is a meteor dropped the fps goes to single digits and the ping goes from the usual 85 to 999. Happens more in some places than in others. I happened on 2 machines on 2 different internet connection. Lower graphics does not help.

It is especially bad in WGT for some reason.

I don't think it is Win10 specific as I am still running 7 and still see the same issue. I also see the ping spikes - but when ping spikes hit before, as they have done in busy PvP for some time now, I did not also get such a brutal drop in frame rates.

Take the AoE off the bar.....try using just single target skills for one night.
    PLEASE .. just one night.
Let me know if you can play the game without deterioration.

I have the same issue where performance degrades to a standstill over time (Since IC dropped).
Addons just speed up the process.
BUT using single target skills delays the inevitable for me (where AoE = lag death....but single target gets through reasonably unaffected).
I know its not a fix....but hopefully give you some enjoyment.

I've had this problem since IC in PVP battles and to a lesser extent large pve fights like the WB in Orsinium.

Nothing changed on my end, either and running Win 7.
Ran the game since Beta before that with little trouble other than the increasing lag in Cyro but this is different.
I can't even really do raid nights anymore as I'm guaranteed to die to 1-2 fps in a keep fight and that's just no fun :(

It just started out of the blue with IC, I would love to know what changed and how to fix it.

I run around without AoE. And it's just any fight that this happens. Just aggroing enemies now already seems to cause these issues.

Yes, but then I would have these issues with other games as well. And there are more people with these issues.

Could region have anything to do with it? Like it might be different in Europe than the US?

A friend has these issues some times (and yes WGT seems to be one of the places where that happens), and he said that using /reloadui will help. He thinks it's a memory leak of some sort.

Well, even restarting the game didn't solve any issues. Then the game would run pretty smoothly until I go in a fight again and it strikes me again.

With the last 2 major updates (6 & 7) they changed some major coding in the game. It seems that many have had negative effects from it. Personally I did a clean uninstall of my Nvidia driver and reinstalled and this seemed to help. I also found that the stand-in feature for loading in those shadow people was not playing nicely on my system. I went into the user settings and turned that off.

Unfortunately I think ZOS is about as close to a solution for this as they have to fix the lag in Cyrodiil (been an issue since beta).

I don't know how much you care about ESO to try the following:

Format your computer. Do a clean install of everything.

I had the same problems you had and was a big decision to upgrade from a 32 bit system to a 64 bit one. That solved my problem though, ESO runs like it did on the launch, smooth, no lag, no fps drops.

If you less keen on drastic measures, uninstall the game, use a program like CCleaner to clean registry entries and other stuff and restart your computer, reinstall ESO again.

Also so .ini tweaks might help.

If you are using Windows 10 they got some bug about outdated graphics drivers.

ZOS changed a lot of how their game works performance wise and we do our best to keep up to date. But then I care a lot about ESO to spend time and effort adapting my system to that game only.

Don't be like that Vash, the O.P is actually making a valid complaint, hell I have been barely logging in lately for the very same reason... not that I'd ever quit my favorite game but it's truly becoming difficult to play. I've checked my end of things and it's clearly not my pc or net connection causing the 0 fps +999 latency that happens at least 20 times an hour.

Something's up with this and it needs to be addressed.

Well, I don't really suppose that's the issue since I don't have any of these problems on any other game that I run ultra fluently. I can't think of any valid reason that's not fault of the game.

Have you cleaned your Fans? Had a very similar problem about a year ago, was playing the game on Ultra before and then it even lagged on Minimum. After I cleaned it back to normal. Also run a tool like Speedfan and control the Temperatures. Sounds more like a problem with the PC then one with the Game.

It actually doesn't. This pc is 3months old and fans are clean.

I also play every other game on highest settings possible without a single moment lag or fps drop. Tried next games to have some variety to see where the issue could be:
    - BF3 (for latency and fps)
    - Skyrim (for fps)
    - Counter-strike GO (for latency)
    - Guild Wars 2 (for latency and fps, and because it's also an mmo)

I have no single issue with these games, but I have them with ESO. Also other people have these issues, maybe not as bad.

All I can conclude is that it's something about the game, reloadui, relog, restart or reinstall does not help either.
