Stacking DoTs

My question is when using DoTs ability do they stack?

For instance abilitys like Poison Enjection + Lethal Arrow. Would utilizing both of these skills both add a DoT poison effect, or would one counter the other.

Also abilitys like Unstable Flame with Poison abilities again like Poison Enjection. One is flame damage over time, the other being a posion. Would you be able to stack these as well?

I want to come up with a build with Axes/bow to be able to bleed, burn, and poison.

Thanks for any information regarding this.

As long as they are different effects, they will stack. It is the same effects that cancel and replace or reset the ticks.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Yes they do stack as nestor said.

Just to clarify, lethal arrow has no dot. It's a burst damage of poison damage. Lethal arrow and focused aim hit for the same, but focused aim is buffed by the "mighty" cp passive for physical damage, while lethal arrow is buffed by "thaumaturge" cp passive for poison damage.

    Hope that helps

Word my CP were going to be put into Thaumaturge for the Poison DMG increase as well.

Do the DoTs work on shields?

Shields are broken right now. They are both dot and crit proof.

Yeah shields are just too strong then...I mean if you cant even damage them then whats the point.

I think shield breaker is ok but 5 piece set bonus soley to parse on one class is kind of a waste really...

Doing damage should reward damage as far as im concerned but whatever, thats a whole other topic.

Thanks for all the input everybody~

Walls of Elements from staffs of different elements used to stack, but now they DON'T. For example, it is NOT possible to cast Wall of Elements from a frost staff and then from a fire staff and have the two Walls stack.

In my eye's, DoT's are pretty lame to utilize because nightblade's Dark Cloak is so op.

I personally think dark cloak should not break on DoT effect's, but just reduce damage or the time from DoT effect's. Would be a lot more balanced for DoT focused classes such as Dk's.

Hmm, what about the same DoT from two players. E.g., what if two players both do Burning Embers on an enemy. Will the DoT for both of them tick?

    Yes
Only exception i can think of are caltrops in PvE...they only work for one person.

I wear shield breaker because I don't like to deal with the shield stacking and hide in mines BS that sorcs like to play. Quite frankly, unless they make shields scale off of max health, I don't see myself taking it off.
