    In terms of Barbershop implementation,

I think that it would be truly epic if there were a player skill line which was levelled by giving people makeovers. You could start off by changing a few things like hair-styles and end up with full blown body alterations including height, weight, beards, piercings, eye colour etc etc

And, if there were loads of new additional options on top of the choices on char creation, this would be even more awesome - give people a reason to do it!

Kicker - you can only do it to someone else - to encourage a bit of interdependency

OMG YES!!!! They could still make money by having people buy hairstyles they want in the Crown Store so the "barber" player would have access to the "customer's" available styles. Then there would be special styles that were dependent on the skill (level) of the barber. So if a player wanted a specific style, they might have to hunt down a barber of a particular skill to get it applied to their character.

    Love it!

Oh PLEASE NOOOOOOOOO this is not pixie hollow fashion boutique or the like, I don't want to level up my beautician skill in this game. I want to smash worm-cultist heads, not play 'girls night' in a fantasy game of this kind. To me... this would truly be throwing the game way off course (and kind of down the toilet). Please I beg of you NO. This has to be a joke doesn't it? please tell me it is.

And there is absolutely NO WAY I am entrusting my character's appearance to some other player. I would NEVER use such a feature. I would never dare try to redo someone else's character either, beauty is Way too subjective for that, it would be a nightmare. No No No No No No No No No - how many times can I say NO. Oh Gods NO!

Yeah they could do that - add an extra pack of changes

    - extra foot difference in height both ways
    - longer longer hair
    - more extreme alterations to all facial angles

I can imagine it now... defeat someone in cyrodil, give them a makeover, and they respawn with pink lipstick, heavy makeup and violet anime hair... they wouldn't be able to show their face in a nord bar again!;)
Oh, you meant makeovers by voluntary request? Curses, there goes that idea...

That's how the gimme crowd usually whines. And if the game had stayed subscription powered, that might have been how it could have gone.
But alas, this ship has sailed and sunk a while ago...

Right now, the best we can hope for is that half of it will be gold sink, and the other half crown store, instead of all crown powered.

In this proposed barber shop there HAS to be ways to adjust lighting and different backgrounds to flip through so we can get a proper idea of what our character will look like in game.

Some hair styles and body adornment could be unlocked by achievements.

Also... Well, this is an idea I have been toying with since the introduction of the concept of Flesh Magic in Skyrim.

Why not using the alteration of the character's appearance as a game mechanics. There could be special Barber Shops within the Thieves Guild, the Dark Brotherhood, the Ring of Daggers (with the the Hollow-Faced Men of the Nohotogrha oasis?), the Eyes of the Queen (in the Faculty of Chirurgeons of Cloudrest?), and the Hidden Armigers (A Tribunal-aligned Dreugh flesh mage somewhere in Morrowind?), where you could not only modify your appearance but in fact, create an alias for your character. It would act as a permanent disguise (unless you betray yourself during a dialogue, which could cause both identities to collapse), and the crimes committed under an alias aren't attributed to your official identity (unless you get burned). Conversely, the fame you could have acquired under your official identity and the services it may have unlocked (notably among guilds) wouldn't be offered to an alias, except maybe by the few who would know about it.

Vampires wouldn't be able to use conventional Flesh Magic.

This could even be used as a non-immersion breaking way to go from one alliance to another.

need to be able to change entire character model. height shape size hair and everything.

a race change would be great too. Maybe only allow players to switch once or twice per character ever. or once per month or something to keep people from switching races constantly.

Adding my support for this iteration of the idea.

I'm also in support of more options in the crown store, perhaps even sets of hairstyles (early falinesti summer styles, in the store today!)

We also need to have those improvements in the details category as well. I hate that I have to have that rugged beard thing with my eyepatch. eyepatch should be a flexible option with any beard combination. IMO there should be multiple categories:

    - beards and moustaches
    - tatoos
    - adornments (jewelry)
    - scars

at a bare minimum. each one of those is different, and needs its own category, as well as "layer" so we can mix and match. usually for most "salons" in the games i play, the more "layers" you add during the stylist visit, the more it costs coin/currency.

these categories need to be in the main screen as well please. I have no issues with special hairstyles and looks coming from the crown shop, but the initial character creation is a bit muddled and primitive in these aspects, that they should be default from the get go.

Barbershop doesn't have to cost much at all. STO has a tailor where you can change your outfits as you please, even entirely change your face and body. The cost is extremely low if changing body dimensions and free if just changing outfits (unless those outfits are cash shop).

Shouldn't be able to change appearance beyond hair / adornments.

    I'd go for adding scars.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

one thing that's definitely missing in eso is cool punky hairstyles for dunmer. as far as i'm concerned morrowind should look like a cross between burning man and the future world from david bowie's diamond dogs and everyone should have weird clothes and crazy assed hairstyles

Think of Morrowind .. there should be a LOT more facial tattoo options for dunmer

Perhaps. But seriously, there's a whole GIANT thread ZOS themselves made asking people what sorts of things they want in the Crown Store and precious few of them have been done. Many requests for polymorphs and skins that would be super easy for them to do. The whole "change your character" thing...code is already there so why isn't that a thing yet since players have been begging for it since launch?
