Maelstrom Arena is too hard...NERF IT!

    The targeting system makes this arena harder too. I had a tough time targeting those damn spiders with all the other adds up my arse

    I checked the Euro megaserver leaderboards yesterday, only 250 players have completed vMsa so far. Only ZOS knows the amount of players but lets say if it is 25000 (probably much more) only 1% of the playerbase have completed it.

    In other words, for most players vMsa is to hard even if they wear end game gear all legendary.

    Challenging solo content need to be a challenge for a much larger amount of players, not only for a small amount of elite players.

    Iam playing ESO since the beta weekends and never having any problems with content both solo and group play, vDSA was hard but after some runs you learn the mechanics and you get better and better.

    In vMsa the mechanics are unforgivable, a small mistake means death even swapping bars can mean death because the AoE and attacks from mobs do so much damage.

    Its not a LtP issue, most players are just not be able to handle all mechanics in an unforgivable content.

    Yeah, but the challenge isn't balanced in anyway, that's what most people are unhappy about.

    Play magicka sorc and it's VR mode.

    Play magicka NB and it's challenge mode.

    Play stamina templar and it's nightmare/ragequit mode.

    It needs to be more mele friendly mostly. But also less shield and burst dependant. The way it favours max ranged, shields and mobility, is just stupid.

    There's hopefully changes that can be done to balance this, without nerfing content to the ground.

    Dont nerf it,but make it so that each wave completes a set.You get to end it like you end quests.That way,you have saved your progress,and can either continue,or come back when you've taken a breather.You can go in for another wave of enemies,kill em all,end that bit,and return later for the next wave.

    That's the same as in some pledges... The Banished Cells, for example... Solid tactics can be used on the NORMAL pledge... But go Veteran, and you need to use tactics like stacking-up around the corner and hoping your healer can spam enough mass-heals to keep you up 'til you chop down the boss... What in the actual heck??

    Every day I get a little farther than I did the day before. Eventually I will beat it. I'm against any sort of nerf.

    So did you also enrage when there was Sanctum Hardmode and nobody was able to complete it for months and it droppped gear with enchantments better than legendary? No. You took it for granted. please do the same with the difficulty of vMA.

    250 players completing it in 1 week. I'm saying that's way too easy and is already a farmfest now.

    They should analyze the specs/classes that are beating it and improve those that aren't proportionally represented.

    I'm not interested in changing my spec/playstyle drastically to beat vMSA. I enjoy my play-style with minor modifications for all other content - pvp/Vet grouping etc.

    And yes, I have not completed it - after getting to stage 7 only to leave for lunch and come back re-starting at Stage 1 - LOL hell no. I don't have that amount of contiguous time to master vMSA on my Templar. I would mess around with it if I didnt have to digest 10 stages in one sitting.

    Additionally, sure, some players play 12+ hours a day -(ESO = life) I have a fuggin J-O-B and am not interested in spending the 100+ hours these players have spent on PTS and the additional hours locked away in SOLO content in an MMO.

    Any class/spec could do it as these "full time" players do - just add Time and Exploits and you too can complete vMSA.

    NO Nerf November !!

    OP screenshot the death recaps and build around what kills ya. Set your dungeon setting to normal and learn the mechanix of each Stage. This is the most awesome-st build and testing ground ever. This one would like ZOS to reduce the repair costs on gear for this Arena then it would be purrfect!!!

    There is a gear swap addon that you can get that will allow you to change gears to meet the the particular requirments for each stage. So if in stage 5 you need to buff stamina you can before you portal in: hit the stamina buffs button in the gear changer and Poof you are like Khajiit with many stamina cheesburgrz!!!

    Normal maelstrom is easy. Haven't played this game in months and came back and cleared normal without much trouble. Yes, I died a few times and the poison round was the most challenging for me. Like anything in this game I chose skills that would help most which is how this game is designed to be played.

    Have not cleared get yet but it should be a big challenge. The arena is setup as end game should be with a version that is easy for most players and a version with higher difficulty for the strongest players to work on. Even then, it will become easy for them once they have down what needs to be done.

    The challenge I see for some players is this is solo. Unlike dsa a player cannot be carried by other players. That's the life with solo content.


    Edit: in no way should this be nerfed. It doesn't need a nerf.

    I'm just curious....not knocking the difficulty or anyone who likes it this way... just 100% honest question.

    What do people do when they get all the gear they've been grinding for?
    You found/created v16 gold gear... got the mal weapons you wanted....all of it.
    You have to beat the hardest content in the game... sometimes it seems like 100 times over to get the item(s) you want.

    So... you've done this.... now what? There's no more content to enjoy where you get to use your new items. Unless you count going back and re-doing the same things again exciting?

    I guess i think of it in the other direction... it would be more fun (for me) to be able to get the gear (not sure how... just throwing an idea out there)... THEN use that gear in the hardest content available for some kind of unique rewards (titles, skins, mounts, pets, gold/AP/TV Stone, etc.) and/or leader board status.

    Leave the difficulty as is. Make the weapons bind on equip so we can buy them if we don't want to PVE.

    I like that it is chellenging . I wish there was a way to save progress. I dont have a luxury of spending few hrs on arena in order to progress it. From the release I had time for only one attempt.

    Why do you want it to get nerfed?
    If you want to beat it, you have to practice one day at a time in normal arena, then grind some gold for better gear, then maybe you can beat it.
    It IS beatable, the point is not to make every new content beatable in the first day.
    I find it much more rewarding when I can sense I made visible progress with something over time.

    But then again... I SEE COOKIE, Y CAN I NOT HAZ COOKIE?!!!

    I don't mind it being hard, I'd just wish there were safe points per stage so you could continue the next day. Some people do not have the time to play several hours on end just to figure out the mechanics.

    For instance, I keep getting stuck on the stage with the spider totems, I finally made it to the boss, but somehow something is killing me in one shot the moment the boss is almost dead. However I lack the time to experiment with this due to the fact that, by the time I am at that stage, I have to log.

    If I could continue that stage the next day, I could finish it, I don't really see why you can't have save points in between stages, and the ability to continue another time.

    Roll a magicka sorc and all your problems will go away.

    I'm pretty out of the loop, not really playing for the last 7 months or so. Why is it so much easier for magicka sorc? Their abilities just make them more solo friendly? Is it the pets? The hardened ward? Something else that's new?

    25k shields which prevent you from dieing from crazy inc damage and bugs.

    Most ppl with enough experience with this game agree it's pretty much given there will be nerf. So this discussion is quite pointless.

    Amen. It's wicked frustrating when you die to bugs that if not there, you'd be alive. I don't know how many of you play FIFA, but I equate doing this like playing FIFA. I've never had this level of frustration in ESO before.

    Watching FENGRUSH stream it is very much like how I am myself when I'm running through.

    I don't mind the difficulty level of vMSA at all - but there are some weird things going on that definitely need to be fixed and make a complete run a russian roulette - you're either lucky enough or not.
    And on top of that, some genius had the idea of making it possible to save your progress on normal MSA but not on veteran. Not everyone got 24/7 to play this game. I'm paying for it and I wanna be able to finish this new content too at some point and not start over and over and over again. (including rage quits :P)
    However, seeing one of my guild mates already completed vMSA without a death - it doesn't necessarily need a nerf, it really needs bugfixing and option to save progress.

    I just figured out an ideal solution, and before my first cup of coffee.

    Once a player completes Maelstrom Arena on Veteran level, promote / reward them to an isolated instance of the game so they no longer have to interact with the non-elite players.

    And lets call the server instance Sovngarde

    This isolated instance of the game would also have ALL monster difficulties set to the same nightmare level as vet Maelstrom Arena.
    For example, a "Mob" of Mud crabs with over 1 million health points, which of course would be no problem for these elite players. (we have all seen their posted videos of their prowess)

    Also, change these elite player's account status to prevent their account / linked accounts from logging in to the general population servers.

    Elite players will no longer be annoyed by the rest of us inadequate-to-complete-Maelstrom-Arena players.

    Generally I only agree with 1 and 2.

    Honestly, it doesn't seem like it was designed with the majority of players in mind.

    My stam sorc will likely never complete vet without 400-500cp and even then I doubt it (not that I represent the majority).

    Not to mention the repair bills.

    It's not necessarily too hard, because there's so much difference in difficulty depending on which class you play. It is really really hard on a stam DK compared to a magicka Sorcerer.

    I've tried it on my stam DK, just can't get past the 5th bossround. It's ridiculous. I quit after 30 times or so, even though previous stages didn't take that long.

    @Alcast I saw your vid on this stage, you make it look so easy haha.

    I'll try soon again, but man, it's so frustrating since it's my only V16 character that I've been playing since launch haha.
