Are you kidding me? That's what a "top? PvPer is? Give me a break. Just have them put in an Arena system. 1v1, 2v2, 2v1, and stay the hell out of Cyrodiil for those of us THAT ACTUALLY ENJOY the alliance war. I've put 1000+ hours into this game, which is only a fraction of time for the "elite" players, but I always find myself wanting more alliance war with bigger battles. They are just fun.
If you want "skilled based combat" then what you really should be pushing for is a removal of the leveling, champion, unique weapons and armor, enchantments. Etc... or you could just go play an FPS which solely based on twitch, which sounds like you all want.
In fact, I would say, in my humble opinion, that big battles are MORE skilled based than dueling. There is so much more going on that you have to be aware of, and it takes so much more teamwork and coordination. WAY MORE SKILL.
I just turned the podcast off after that statement. Simple fixes.
Two simple fixes and everyone is happy
1. IC Should be it's own zone/server
2. A literal Arena where players can duel 1v1, 2v2, 2v1, whatever.
P.S. The other major contributing factor to turning off the podcast is that ya'll are REAL boring.

I bolded the section i found the most lolz worthy. You do realize that once a group reaches over 12 players that the amount of being penalized for mistakes decreases drastically for each player you add to the group. The is no real skill involved in the new meta of ball groups. Stick to crown, keep up buffs, drop ulties when called.
Pre 1.6 the elite groups of 8-16 were able to wipe 2-3x there numbers consistently and not be balled tight on crown. They were just in the same vicinity and putting in actual work. With the changes to dynamic ultie, AoE caps, Reduced dmg, and honestly no real incentive to not mash 24 people in the same tiny pixel things wont get better in pvp.
If they could just do a modified mix of 1.6 and 1.5 with no AoE caps and adjusting some skills accordingly (cost increase, range decrease, etc.) pvp as a whole would be 100% better.
Currently those "More Skilled" players you speak of do not get punished one bit for balling up the way they do. Unless you count the lag created from it as a punishment.

Everyone did a nice job even though Jules sounds like she could be a voice actor for a modern Dora The Exploerer. I like how you BS'ed me a long time ago on whisper Jules, during your very short stint on DC. Telling me how you were new to MMOs and didn't know shsnipt. Yet here you are all grown up on the podcast breaking the game down like you awaiting the noble peace prize. Mr. Richard looked like he really didn't care most of the time lol. Sypher was standard Sypher. Lefty Lucy, I don't know what to say other than I hope he's ok. With all the twitching, not able to sit still, and constant sipping of multiple beverages. Fengrush again I think brings his point across with more maturity and emphasis. He knows what he wants to say and can quickly deliver his point with all the required detail without it being cutoff or becoming long winded. So fengrush needs to be on every single one of your podcasts. If you have a podcast discussing what to eat for breakfast, doesn't matter, fengrush needs to be in it.
And now I get to Crown.... I will start by saying for a guy who talked to me about biceps, your brand of yoghurt, and fresh quail egg omelettes your voice lacked the bass and boom I anticipated. But I digress. I'm going to say something probably no one expects me to right now, but I felt bad for Crown. I think whatever was going on in that chat and whatnot got to him and he had an unflattering moment. Naturally I would have lol'ed and within minutes had special forum posts whipped up for every single one of the chat perpetrators.
But I like how crown mentioned frozn. So as a one time gesture to crown (and you better believe one time) I will bestow frozn a new nickname.
Is everyone ready? It's going to blow everyone's mind! Here we go! Frozn's name is from this moment on................ Frozn Yogurt.........! *head explodes*
What the diddly silly!? Foshizzle my nizzle! It's Commander Froyo and his red ant army marching to Ales farm! Get out the cans of Raid!!!
I'm just so torn bc, you called me modern-day Dora the Explorer (LOL) and also posted a gorgeous picture of Julian Edelman. So I'm almost offended, but like, not really even.
Truth is I am new to MMO's, this is my first one. I've just spent a lot of time playing and analyzing it. But thanks for putting me up for the nobel peace prize and for posting Julian. Drool.
I got totally sidetracked regarding the point of the discussion after that picture was posted!!! Or maybe that was the posters intent. LOL
And who might you be? Fixate's former executive assistant at Morrowind Gate?
And for future reference don't ever refer to me as "poster" again. You will address me as THE COVENANT'S SQUINTY EYE
I was annoyed by Crown for the entirety of that podcast. I don't know him, never fought him but listening to him was painful because he could never tune down the ego enough to allow a discussion to not be centered around him.
It's hard for me to add anything else new to the discussion really. Without a ZoS presence and any sort of feedback its a divided community inbtheir own echo chamber.

Many players don't participate much in the war effort anymore because their small or spread out group has no place there anymore and they don't enjoy balling up with 20+ other players to spam AoE together (simplified).
You can have as many nuances in there as you want, like you need good organization, timing etc., it doesn't suddenly make that playstyle fun. I've put 1500+ hours into the game since 1.6 hit and still want to go back to sieges and large scale battles.

Are you kidding me right now? I was talking about large scale PvP, that's what I want. The sole reason I am playing small scale is because large scale doesn't work out without a zergball now. I want to cap keeps and scrolls. Am I supposed to nightcap when the enemies aren't online or what? I can already only play outside prime time in Cyrodiil because of the horrible lag, but if I wanted to wait until there are no zergballs running around anymore I'd have to play between 3 and 11 am or something.

Hah, man, Fengrush went full-on Hulk. But that's passion for you - I'd have been the same. I'm just so frustrated with the lack of small-scale PvP, and push towards complete and utter zergballs.
Do you know what I did tonight? Go on, guess. Give up? OK, I did PvE. Yeah. I said it. I logged into Cyrodiil for 15 minutes, and in that timeframe got stampeded on twice in DIFFERENT areas. They are everywhere. I can't go to the toilet without getting zerged. It's ridiculous.
So yeah, I went back and finally completed the second and third Harborage quests. And you know what? I liked it. I was facing 2-3 enemies at a time max. It was a breath of fresh air to be sure.
Yes, I'm angry, but at least Fengrush has Lefty to console him while I have no one.

Yeah I feel you man. The zerging has just straight up killed small scale. I get a few good fights on my sorc in Cyrodiil last night but most of the time it usually ends up with a nice 1 v 1 to 1 v 3 turning into a 1 v 6+ zerging me down. It's not like I'm sieging keeps or doing anything other than waiting outside (never in stealth) in the middle of the battle lanes looking for some fun / fair PvP action. I've literally had entire raids run me down. Or you end up fighting 1 member of the raid, which turns into 3 members of the raid, you get the upper hand and the entire damn raid comes back to zerg you down. Just stupid. If you're in a PvP group and you see 3 people in your group fighting 1 person let them kill him or die to him, don't just pile on. That's the main reason small group players have a tendency to disdain large group PvPers.
I've been spending more time running WGT and doing writs in Craglorn than PvP these days.HighT3chR3dn3ck wrote: »All I have to say is if you're not participating in the Alliance War and you're just looking for duels, then you really shouldn't have much of an opinion on the direction the Alliance War takes. It's been a long time since I sieged a keep as well. You've got to remember, many of us have held down entire campaigns for our side by leading groups and fighting zergs and PvP battles for the first year of the game. That whole combat meta got boring for us. Sieging walls, repairing walls (shudder), running scrolls. When you've literally spent *millions* of AP on siege and repair kits, staring at your characters ass squatting down over and over for hours on end...it starts to get a little boring. You begin to live for the *combat*, not the stuff that surrounds it.
And as far as entertainment value, you would be in the minority if you thought the contributors to the podcast are boring.I was annoyed by Crown for the entirety of that podcast. I don't know him, never fought him but listening to him was painful because he could never tune down the ego enough to allow a discussion to not be centered around him.
It's hard for me to add anything else new to the discussion really. Without a ZoS presence and any sort of feedback its a divided community inbtheir own echo chamber.
Immaletchufinish, but let's all quickly google the definition of meta first.
I shouldn't have even said what I did, I'm not trying to dog on Crown but it was distracting to me and I wanted to provide some feedback to Spyher and the guys hosting the podcast. Anyone appearing on the podcast should have very thick skin and treat everyone else as equals and with the respect they are due regardless of differences in opinion.
Im just going to say it ... Crown pissed me off.
Other than that, awesome job guys.
Fengrush was spot on with what he said.
Make these guys the class mediators, They are at the top of their game on ther chosen classes.
Also think it was king that said , the deves just pass the buck all the time when asked a two hard question.
Eso live .. the body language alone of the guys / devs when asked questions says ... we are going to tell you this, but you know and we know you know.... we are full of *** and that is never going to happen.

In a client relationship, its normal for creative to become defensive when their clients fail to do the following:
- misunderstand the product they are receiving
- and after understanding the product, actually think its bad and request revisions.
I'm willing to bet the devs on those eso live chats, are showing signs of defensiveness.
They would have been out of this mess had they understood their clients needs, offered viable solutions that they want to introduce, and returned those products in a timely fashion with constant communication so that its transparent.
You manage the expextations of your clients in any other industry and you'll have fun at work. Don't, and you'll be this defensive mess struggling with workoholic deadlines. @ZOS_BrianWheeler and @ZOS_GinaBruno are some of the few at ZOS managing our expectations as a client; of which many of us should respect because its not easy.
This is exactly what happens. I was finally having a 1v1, then the opponents friends/group members surrounded me watching the fight. I was like cool, this is happening, finally a fair fight. He got low health and 1 other jumped in. I'm fine with that. Then the rest piled in after him.Yeah I feel you man. The zerging has just straight up killed small scale. Even with removal of aoe caps this trend will stay stronger the more numbers you have spamming steel tornado and vigor, just the ball can take out more people faster then before.

If you're in a large group against one person, make it interesting and come in small waves. Where's the fun in rolling them over when you can do that at keeps? The only person I've seen honour this was the EP emperor at the time. I accidentally ambushed him on his horse without realising and he stood there while I fought his group. Because hell, I'd have no chance if the Emperor had jumped in as well xD
I'm not saying you need to let friends die, but you don't need to gang bang a solo PvPer then pat each other on the back afterwards.

Because that one member of a raid you're trying to get honourable PvP from isn't using a 1v1/solo build. Half his bar is most likely support and AoE, no self sustain, lacking single target. Standrad zergs v.s. zerg setup. So he naturally goes "gaaaaaaaaaaaanked help" in TS totally panicking because scary NB or sorc "ON ME help". All his buddies pours out of the keep to save him, since he cant burn you down with siege shield, AoE and purge.
Another reason why we need arenas or similar. In fights with premade numbers, everyone is built for the same type of combat, everyone is there for the same reason. If you roam around today looking for good 1v1 or small scale, majority of your encounters will be lost zerglings trying to catch up to zerg or NB's in sneak looking for mounted players or vamps to jump. Neither will give you upfront fighting, they're not interested in that "playstyle". If you let them change skills + gear first maybe, but probably not.
