Login Instant Death

Happens all the time in the banks. Login, start to move, blue screen, falling... how the *&%# did I get here?

I almost never see this, the last time I saw this is when I got kicked from Tavia(RIP). though I didn't die, I was like 150+feet over windhelm and I suddenly slowfalled twice during the fall almost like those event falls and almost crashed on a player coming out of the hall of the dead

It only happens on my argonian sorc. It's only when I first log in and not if I switch zones. It's super annoying and hasn't happened since I was vr3. It stopped when I hit vr4 and 5 so far

This happened to me yesterday. Logged out in the bank in Eastmarch only to be catapulted into the sky on login.

I've also had several instances in Craglorn where I've logged out in the bank and when I've logged back in I fall through the floor and pop back into existence at the waypoint!

Happened to me several times as well, but instead of falling from great heights, I'm simply dead on arrival (after using a Wayshrine).

I fell through Banished Cells Vet upon loading into the map, died, and decided to res underneath the dungeon. Same usual tiled, generic landscape for some of it... but I did come across this serene little area underneath the dungeon. =D Rather relaxing.

Though, tonight is the first time it's ever happened in a dungeon.

Being able to drop through the world and res underneath it seems like a really big glitch at this point, especially so late into the game. It's neat to get into "forbidden areas", but it's happening all too much of late.

Personally I would enjoy the view from being up so high, but console has it worse. We just clip through the floor and that can actually be fatal in Elden Root because it happens very often on the upper floor where all the banks and crafting stations and stuff are. I cannot vouch for Xbox but PS4 definitely. That isn't the only place it happens though but it is definitely most frequent in Elden Root.

I think the most people here that are now complaining are not using PC.
I've had this issue in the past, after update x it's fixed.

When I fall through the floor I get back on the ground like nothing happened

Happens to me when i log in the game nothing special, i dont know the cause but it happens lot of times.

I get this as well on a regular basis on both characters i play in different factions on the pc Windows 10. What i am going to try is disabling all addons and play for awhile.. *shrugs*

This bug is the reason I activated my forum account so I could add that it also happens on PS4. This isn't a PC/MAC only bug.

I've fallen in a lake in Grahtwood (survived), and other areas around Grahtwood (died)
I've fallen under Imperial Sewers and was on a checked blue plain with a map of all Sewer subsections that was black around each zone all with vertical cliffs up to the zones above so couldn't get back, died by falling off the edge to respawn. When zoomed out the map said 'internal only' in top left.
I've fallen on login and appeared at wayshrines in Craglorn and Cyrodiil.
Last fall on login was after a disconnect in Cyrodiil, then when I logged back in I was falling underneath the map and popped back to wayshrine.

I've been having this issue for a long time (PC version) - since the DLC update, i think.

I've tweeked and played with the following: LUA memory, addons and mods, changing the in-game realestate where I log off and several other hair brained "what if" scenarios.

I bought a new laptop (not to fix this) and the problem followed me to the new gear > 16GB RAM, 5 GB Video, i7, etc.

Since I've got a hugely powerful new system, I was running with my video settings maxed out. I cut them back (due to the heat generated!) to roughly medium and I haven't had this happen since. Still testing, but it looks like the video settings is at least a contributor if not the cause.

Solution (at least until a fix is provided): lower your in-game video settings and slowly re-up so long as you don't replicate the problem. If you do, go back to the last video setting increase and dial it back.

If this helps any, instant deaths for me usually happen when I'm inside a building. It doesn't seem to matter which building, but it happens towards more heavily populated zones/areas than it does low populated zones.

Since the "falling from the sky" version started happening to me when IC came out I experimented carefully to locate places that wouldn't instantly kill me (though I still take falling damage). It's no longer neccesary because a patch fixed my issues but the "lesson was learned" for Orsinium. Have a careful look at the rooves of the structures, there are usually some which curve and have a short drop to the ground. If you park yourself in the open under one of these rooves then the fall on to the roof gets turned into a short drop with a horizontal component which is survivable.

Interestingly, to me, the tent one of my characters stand under in Craglorn seemed to use only a short drop - inside the tent.
