[Some forms of] Self-healing no longer generates ult?

Just wanted to make sure this is working as intended. Forgive me if I missed it in a set of patch notes.

Noticed it on a DC Max Level Template, an Argonian Templar using Puncturing Sweep. Wearing the following gold vr16 gear: 5 pc heavy Permafrost, 3-4 pc Julianos (med hands, light feet, resto staff, mace, shield), 3 pc Willpower Jewelry.

UPDATE: I tried attacking a few trash mobs using only Radiant Glory and saw ult gain. Tried using only Puncturing Sweep and got none.

Nope. I even made sure after your comment. Let a few mobs beat me down to 50% (took a while as the character is a little tanky), tried only Sweeps, zero ult gain. Discharged my ult and went around, no dodging, blocking, no light/heavy attacks, just Sweeps. Ult points/bar stayed at zero.

I don't know, I only know that I've never had generating ult with Sweeps before and I still get ult for another damage/heal ability, Radiant Glory. I hadn't played my Templar as much over the past few months, so maybe I just didn't notice a change to how things work but why would one work and the other not?

So, a mob must have major heroism on it for a damage/heal spell to generate ult, which is why Sweeps won't generate ult when I attack mobs, but Radiant Glory does generate ult anyway when I attack mobs. I am not following this. Sorry if it's obvious but I don't get it.

Not mob. Let me explain it in steps:

    1) Player A hits a mob with light attack.
    2) Player A gains Major Heroism.
    3) Player B heals Player A and gets Major Heroism.

At least this is how it supposed to work last time I heard about it. If I'm wrong then correct me please.

the target you are healing Needs to have Major hero buff, else you wont get the buff through healing.
the target also Need to be under 99% hp.
this is the rule for groupheals.

i dont know if dmg selftheal abilitys or just selfheal like gdb even give you the Major hero buff

There is no player B. These are self heals. I recall the rule for group stuff, but it doesn't apply. I thought someone was saying new similar rules were in force for solo play.

Again, this is, per the title and original post, about self heals. Particularly, damage/heal abilities. Not sure why people keep bringing up rules for group play. One Templar ability does damage and heals you for a portion of it and you get ult. Another Templar ability does damage and heals you for a portion of it and does not give ult. Neither gives the heroism buff.

Previously, I recall getting ult for Sweeps, now I don't. I admit I may have missed a change somewhere along the line, but if a player has to have heroism for self-heals to give ult points then it's still a bug that some self-heals do give ult without that buff. Either way something seems to not be working as intended.

i know you speak about dmg abilitiys, but the heal itself follow the rules for healing, Group or not groupheal.
As a DK i can say you, neither Molten whipe proc give me ulti nor burning embers.
gdb also dont give me Major hero buff when i heal myself.

so i would say, no selffhealing skill is giving Major hero, when you dont have allready Major hero up.

but anyway, jsusfuckingbeam could be Buggy, its jesusfuckingbug anyway

Right, well, I only mention heroism because it was brought up as a prerequisite for gaining ult from healing. Yet, I did nothing like weapon attacks to gain the buff, nor used a potion to get the buff, etc. The buff tracker did not show it. And still, one ability healed me and increased my ult pool. One did not. So, again, one of them isn't working as intended unless there is some other rule or mechanic at work.

You only get the buff from blocking and light attacks, or healing someone who has the buff.

That's all, unless otherwise stated in a tooltip (like Carve for example).

Use a light attack first, you need the buff in order to keep it active using sweeps.

The question though is why one ability gave me ult with no buff and the other didn't. I can keep the buff up easily enough if needed. Previously I recall getting ult from Sweeps without the buff, which is why it seemed weird earlier, especially when I tried another Templar ability with the same damage/heal mechanic and it still have ult. *shrug*

OK so after re-reading the thread, basically you are asking if Radiant Glory should be giving ultimate by itself without any light attack or block involved whatsoever? (Puncturing Sweeps should not so that part is working correctly, even if you believe you have seen it give ultimate before)

Yeah I was wondering which one was working as intended. I mean, I'm cool it with either way. But it was weird, if I did nothing but stand in one spot and beam trash mobs to death, I got ult at the end of the ability. When I did the same for Sweeps, nothing. If Sweeps isn't supposed to generate ult on its own anymore, that's fine.
