DSL compatability

I am about to switch over to DSL internet service. I currently play on a wifi hotspot and the game runs very smoothly. Will I be able to play ESO with about a 2-3 Mbps download speed?

Since ESO has traffic of a few kilobytes per second, DSL is more than sufficient.

I play on a similar speed, and the game runs mighty fine. Ignore naysayers, you'll enjoy ESO on a DSL line.

Anyway yea as a follow up to my original post, I had DSL along with brand new wiring and box outside installed. I'm running at 5.4 Mbps down and .375 up and it's working fine. I have had one instance where it completely shut down and all lights on my wireless DSL modem went red, but it was only for a couple of minutes. I'm not sure what caused it.

Also as a side question - should I keep the modem on all the time or is it better to shut it off when I'm not using it?

Modern DSL modems/routers have a power saving mode that engages when no active data transfer is occurring. Functional groups like wifi transmitters can usually be scheduled to shut down over night to save even more energy.

Every time a DSL modem is switched on, it needs to measure line properties and negotiate transmission bands with its counterpart, the DSLAM. This is a time consuming process; having servers that run 24/7, I don't bother with it. In fact, I've let every modem I've owned powered on all the time since I first got DSL in 2000.

Some ISPs encourage or even demand that modems are being kept online all the time, so it's easier for them to distribute firmware updates.

So now I have to figure out how to schedule my wifi to shut down. Don't like idea of an invisible signal passing through my body if I can avoid it. Lol

Also do you have any insight on why the DSL completely shut down and all icons on the router became red? I'm sure it could be any number of reasons but what are some of the more common ones?

As long as this doesn't happen more than once a day: ISPs generally interrupt the DSL connection every 24 hours, resulting in a retraining of line parameters and a new IP(v4) address being assigned to the router.
