Very disappointing, volley on a master weapons is joke. :(

I strongly disagree. I'm very excited to get this weapon. If someone melee wants to engage me, they will have to take into account that volley will be on them consistently. This is a great weapon for a tank, you can animation cancel this very quickly and have some decent damage surrounding you.

If a sorc wants to sit in their mines, i can pop volley on them and it will do alright damage, even more so now with this bow.

Just because you do not think this bow with be useful for you, does not mean it will not be useful for others.

Not everyone plays a meta dueling build. I play to support my groups. Which is why i believe the Maelstrom Bow will fit my arsenal perfectly.

As you can see, you take a considerable amount of damage with this bow when using volley. About 7000 damage more when in the duration of volley. This is something people will underestimate and be punished for.

Just because the staff people complained until they got a buff... Doesn't mean it's going to work for every other weapon.

I respect your opinion, and appreciate your data.

The way I look at it thou.

In order for this "Epic" weapon to be effective, you have to stand in the circle of death, the whole duration.

What are the chance of that happening?

However, if they added a snare inside the damage radius, then I would have to say its worth it.

I can see it being useful in PvE but pvp I'll just move out of it.

Scorched Earth also benefits from the damage buff, the small lingering aoe then becomes rather nasty since it has the whole volley duration plus its own to build up even more damage. You just need to do what you can to get your enemies into the aoe near the end of its duration, and in pvp many wouldn't expect the skill to hit hard.

Here's how i would personally build around it. This requires a DW/Bow build.

-You use Flying Blade as your snare to keep your target in Volley.
-You then proceed to spam ambush so they cannot move while inside Volley

-If you utilize this combo with 5 piece shadow walker, you can maintain resources because ambush does not pull you out of cloak or count as "moving". So you will gain resources while rotating cloak/ambush/flying blade.

This is defiantly a very unique play style, one that i have had fun with. People begin to panic because of there lack of movement and get drained of hp. Since you are not visible for a significant amount of time it plays out nicely.

This obviously would not work out exactly with a competent dueler, however it is fun to mess around with. I try to play unique builds to get away from the meta standards.

For added cc/snare on a bow see Bombard.

I'm very interested in getting this bow on live.

Barrage + Volley, with a little luck from evil hunter and birethorns procing. That should be fun in situations with a lot of enemies.

Are you sure the Scorched Earth also benefits from this (tested?)? That would be rather nasty, turning this 7k addition damage to 14k.

The problem with Scorched Earth is its radius is so small compared to the other morph, unless you can lock your opponent in there with some immobilization spam, i think id rather Arrow Barrage.

Would still be nasty for a anti melee build, melee would have to think twice charging into you.

When they take off aoe caps it could be good for defending keep entrances when combined with caltrops etc.

Even without removing AoE Cap( pls do) defending a breach with caltrops+scorched Earth is nasty enough

I agree, its a pretty potent way of getting people to hesitate when at a breach. The ones who get slowed by caltrops really feel the pain.

It does, I had my trusty clannfear to help with that testing. As an example (with a high crit rate) the lingering aoe was able to reach 2k crits, if you recast the skill the aoe will remain but without the bonus damage. A tick I saw when I recasted from the aoe without the buff was somewhere mid 200's. Now the morph choice is difficult, more aoe, or longer duration to get out even more damage.
