I mean DK IMO is the worst out of the 4 classes in there ATM but not by much. You can manhandle your dk into a build that works but I highly doubt many other builds are going to work other than a destro/resto dk running hots and shield stacking with plenty of burst heals for that o sh!t moment. DKs do have a nice leg up with reflect though. It saves a lot of headache in having to deal w/ high damage ranged attacks from some of the bosses and adds. I wouldnt say its designed bad for just dk, its designed bad for all classes. As of right now im pretty sure only 2 people have managed to make it to the final stage and I did it on a 3 hour run to the final stage the spent 5 hours and around 100 lives trying to kill the boss and failing pretty spectacularly not managing to really get him below 85% before getting rekt by too much stuff going on at 1 time.

Obviously the "role-dedicated" builds (such as full heavy armor for tanking) will have to be changed or tweaked to be more versatile in order to survive there. Pure tanks and pure healers will have to adjust to get more DPS, pure DPS will have to adjust to get more protection and self-heal.
I feel for the tanks though, they're the ones who will have to change/adjust/respec the most.

Of course you won't be able to.. why would you even consider going in arena with 5 heavy?
Lol you can't be serious right?Personofsecrets wrote: »Of course you won't be able to.. why would you even consider going in arena with 5 heavy?
Well, if the arena wasn't a DPS race, then I would be excited for the extra survivability.
So why would anyone consider heavy armor? Well no duh, they wouldn't.
Why shouldn't we have an arena where heavy armor is the must have rather than burst DPS? That is a better question @ZOS_RichLambert . Do you even care one iota about player who tank?

MA needs a well rounded character not just a character thats all the way to the left or the right. When Im in there I use destro/resto and I do not think it would be possible for me to complete it right now w/o the resto staff. If you want to be tankier then you can still use heavy armor. This would require you to heal less since you have more mitigation so you can spend more time focused on dpsing the boss where as a light armor dps build would have to heal more and be on the defensive more so they can only have their shot at dpsing boss at certain times. Even if you don't want MA to b just for tanks they still play a super vital role in trials and dsa and dungeons. Having a good tank is one of the most important things for going faster sand getting better scores. Whether the tank is doing more dps or giving support to the group or just simply doing his job properly by making sure everything is taunted and not dying.
The great thing about Maelstrom is that it's forcing every build/role to adapt. A pure DPS glass cannon will struggle as they aren't survivable enough without a tank to take aggro. A pure heal build won't do enough damage and will take forever whittling enemies down or eventually be overrun. And a pure tank suffers the same way as a healer with low damage, but at least can outlast being overrun a little longer.
No matter what role you're used to doing in group content we're all going to have to adapt. Thankfully I've always been a berserk healer, focusing on high damage while maintaining health. My issue will be making it survivable enough to not be killed in 1-3 hits. It's an exciting challenge.
