[FEEDBACK] Shield Dying - Doesn't take colors on most shields.

I crafted 1 shield for every style yesterday except for glass, xivkyn or any new orsinium styles. I dyed each one with several different colours and noticed that the majority of the shields are barely taking on any color. To the point that dying many of the styles was completely pointless.
There were about 2-3 that took the color VERY well and I was happy with that. I understand that some armor doesn't take dye as well, such as leather, (which is a whole other issue itself), but I made each shield out of the same materials and each one took colour VERY differently, again with most taking almost no color. I tested with reds, blacks, whites, pinks, greens, blues, purples, oranges. I went through the majority of my colors at the station.
I feel that this needs to be revisited and tweaked so the dyes come through better. I may go craft them all again and re-dye so I can post which styles didn't play nice with the dye station. I'll edit with a link to a gallery if I decide to craft and re-dye and upload pics of each one.

So do the dies just ad a layer of transperant paint over the other colors or something? Because have you seen the black Rose EP set died white or really any collar other then black? I know some of the other armors have the same problem.0 -

Did you ever try dying Argonian style clothing ? (or most clothing in general) Argonian is the worst example here.
It just won't take the color as you imagine it to be. I think this was over 1 years ago during ESO live where they said, that this is intended, as it is logical.
I suppose it is indeed logical
but sometimes, logic in a game is not the most beautiful thing

✭@ZOS_RichLambert It is the same with every piece of gear. Some portions of armor are lighter, some are darker. So the dye colours and shades you currently get are useless once you get 1 of each colour from the rainbow. @ZOS_RichLambert Hi Rich, I used all nightwood for my crafting because it's what I have available. I'll see if I have anything else for testing but I dont have much. Though maybe I can snag some from gbank.

aco5712✭✭✭✭✭i found that the shields with wood take the colour the best ie. Imperial, nord. Any shield thats metallic ie. redguard takes the colour poorly and makes it look ugly. The DC alliance style shield takes the colour a bit funny aswell, the center portion and the outside lining give 2 different shades but you can make it work if you use other colours.Banned for Naming and Shaming exploiters. Great ideology ZOS.

While I (and I'm sure many others) appreciate that we can now dye Shields, you should also allow us to dye Costumes.
It's a big reason many of us do not buy them (being unable to look different then anyone else wearing the same Costume).

Petros✭✭✭Dwemer shield is the WORST, No color change, just the same color, only a lighter of darker shade

✭The only section that is visible on the Glass Shield is the center piece, the outside colour is always the greenish/silvish colour from the original colour. Disappointed to see this but understand it should be glass and therefore not dyeable.
Xiyvyn tested fine... just look at glass, paid enough for it!
