Where in the world did you pull that conclusion from? Surely not from the most recent round of updates w/ IC where ZOS "Fixed an issue where many item set abilities would not trigger against targets with damage shields."?Teargrants wrote: »The pictures are pretty self explanatory.
With GCD taken into account, you can only do 5 light attacks in 5 sec, that means an additional 1,935 dmg w/ the staff. How in the world is that in any way comparable to 14,514 additional dmg in the same time frame from the sword/maul? That doesn't even take into account the fact that the staff proc requires additional actions, while the sword doesn't have to do anything after the initial crit rush.
Is this a joke?
Well that stuff will not proc on Shields, so why care as Magicka user with 123123 shields up
And you substantiate your claim based on, what? If you say it loudly enough people will believe you?I really hope, someone at Zenimax wrote 14k instead of 1,4k ......
This stupid requirement on maelstrom staves is not justified. And even then, it requires your enemy to stay in it. No player will do that.
While critical charge is unavoidable. Where is the balance here ?
Unavoidable? Block or Shield up and you aint gonna get no DoT.
Tho 14k seems a bit OP i guess

You are exactly correct, the IC patch fixed issues with certain dots not proccing on dmg shields. It's not a nerf so much as consistent design, though whether the game balance was was designed with or without dots proccing on shields can be another discussion.Teargrants wrote: »Where in the world did you pull that conclusion from? I believe, Zenimax did another hidden nerf to shields with the last update. Seems like all DoTs now proc on shields.
At least when my Dk friend tested it, ALL his DoTs could proc on my shield.
I can be wrong of course. It also seems like all secondary DoTs proc, while only primary dots did prior to the last patch.

They don't want Magicka to match Stamina for dmg. Magicka is a trade of dmg for utility/healing. Even so, that's a huge difference.

its funny how people change from NA best to not really on the leaderboards anymore due to lack of cp... and a GREATSWORD/MAUL!!!! rekteded XD... btw cp cap in pve is 501 to welcome to same playing field as everyone bud you will no long be NA best atleast not at first lol unless you really are NA best...THERE CAN BE ONLY 1!!! jk... but seriously trolling ya stop acting like you know your with the... lets be op crowd of stam and even if ur not a stam build how can you agree with this lol its murder infront of our faces and by the sounds of it your a dedicated player so how can you let them do this to the game you actually play and put time into?

Was thinking the same when I was laying in bed today morning.
Old master weapons buff the first ability of each weapon line, the current ones the 2nd skill. So maybe.....
Wouldn't hold my breath, that this staff will be good though. The main reason is, that destruction spells are simply useless and highly underpowered. The new master staff is the best example.
I still think they only want to see weak abilities such destructive touch and wall of elements being in use, so they have nice numbers on their screen
*snip* lets be op crowd of stam and even if ur not a stam build how can you agree with this lol its murder infront of our faces and by the sounds of it your a dedicated player so how can you let them do this to the game you actually play and put time into?

No. You tried to claim in post #13 that it wouldn't be very good in PvP either, less than1K DPS for an ability you have to go out of your way to use.
These weapons are modifying the second skill in these lines. Critical Rush is not spammable and thus has limited use in a PVE environment. I don't know what you want them to do. A fast ticking 3k DoT is very good, far beyond other secondary DoTs in the game right now. if that still isn't good enough to make the skill viable in PVE (excepting the Warrior fight in Hel RA), then the skill is simply incompatible with the competitive PVE environment that you enjoy and there isn't much ZoS can do aside from adding something stupid like "Does 20000K extra damage to trial mobs; this skill has a range of zero" is going to make you happy.
Just because you are not happy with the weapon, does not mean this is not a very good piece of gear that is arguably too good in other aspects of the game. That PvPers, even with their limited brain capacity can see this and you, self-anointed theory-crafter extraordinaire, could not shows how biased you are.

You know what that means for 2H though, right?
buff to Wrecking Blow.

There is not a single maelstrom weapon that would help a magicka melee player (maybe the restro one on the second bar but even then it's much more geared for a primary healer).
The crafted gear has Julianos which is nice but not magicka melee specific and I already have my poor man Julio's in Kag's Hope.
I think you are teasing me with the Armor of the Code. It almost looks like it was a set that was abandoned and the data was left in the code so the reveal through the mining was accidental.
Maybe your are saving all the good stuff for the Dark Brotherhood DLC. I sure hope so.
Also why don't we see any class specific skill altering weapons/items?

Wouldn't the dagger's buff to single target dots be useful for some caster builds?

No. You would loose much damage and essential stamina, you already don't have enough stamina to survive usually.
Steel tornado won't deal any damage for a caster. I don't think, this is a possibility. And the weapon damage on the dagger is actual weapon damage, no weapon-weapon damage that applies to spells as well.

I simply stated that it wasn't as OP as everyone thinks. I didn't say it's not good, just that people are over estimating how strong it is. Stop putting words in my mouth. No augment to crit crush could ever make it viable in a pure DPS (pve) scenario, as you are very limited in its use in competitive play. I am aware of how biased I am, but I stated outright the filter my view point was focused on. I then reminded this thread that just because it's originally a big shiny number, that doesn't mean it's going to be the same when it's put to use. I also said we needed to test it more, but everyone would sooner jump on the band wagon of bashing the guy who disagrees.
Regardless, Zenimax stated in the Orsinium stream that these weapons would only come from the final chest of the Maelstrom VET (no normal!) arena, and you had a chance if you were on the top 100 leaderboard for your class. And since these are solo... Yonkit won't be able to carry you guys anymore. :c

It's Flurry, not Steel Tornado. Still true.
