    ORSINIUM BASE-GAME PATCH
In addition to the Orsinium DLC game pack launch, everyone who owns The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited will receive the base-game patch at no cost. The Orsinium base-game patch includes gamepad support for PC, subtitles for all platforms, shield dyeing, improvements to battle-leveling, fixes and improvements to existing game systems and content, and more! Here are some of the highlights:

    Gamepad support
    Subtitles
    LFG improvements – cross-alliance dungeons
Champion Point cap & catch-up system
    Shield Dyeing
    Improvements to battle-leveling
    Akaviri crafting style
    Ability balance and bug fixes
New ways to spend Alliance Points
    Increased item drop rates
    …and more!
NEW FEATURES / UPDATES / BIG CHANGES - BASE-GAME PATCH

    Akaviri Crafting Style
The secrets of the Akaviri crafting style have been uncovered by scholars on the front lines of the Alliance War!
    • Siege merchants in Cyrodiil will sell chapters of the Akaviri Style for large amounts of Alliance Points.
    • The merchants will also sell the raw style material needed to craft Akaviri items, Ancient Scale, for a modicum of Alliance Points.
AWESOME AP is still totally useless, except for collectors to get some bad looking gear.

You could sell the "useless" stuff for gold. They will likely be worth a good sum seeing as pvpers will control the market with them.

Honestly, do they think that pvp players want crafting styles for AP?

    Here's what we would like:
    1. Vr16 boxes
    2. Vr16 AP gear (just upgrade the old sets, or add new ones)
    3. Crafting raw materials, crafting upgrade mats.
    4. Not much else.

Would you please add AP gear that magicka and stamina builds of all classes actually want. Preferably at costs significantly less than 3 million per piece, i.e. let's not go IC on it pls, thx.

Yes, because AP should be spent on something which has absolutely no affect in PvP...at all...ZoSense at it's finest.

Upgrading the loot bags and PvP vendor sets to VR16 would have been a wiser move, as has been screamed by many a PvPer since the VR cap increase.

Just to clarify, for the Orsinium patch, the new thing coming for AP is that you can use it to purchase racial motif items for the first time (Akaviri chapters and the Akaviri crafting material), as the patch notes state. We are still discussing additional ways to add value to AP and give you more and diverse ways to spend it. :)

So you are confirming that AP is still relatively useless outside of cosmetics. Gotcha.

Except this gives you the ability to convert AP to massive amounts of gold easily and buy whatever you want.

Yes, for what? What do I, as a PvP player need gold for if all the PvE sets I am forced to grind the crap out of PvE for are Bind on Pickup?

If ZOS makes Undaunted and other valuable PvE sets tradeable I am happy with earning gold spending my AP, but this way it's just liek before... I can use my AP to earn gold but have to grind mind numbingly repeating dailies and stuff to get the wanted gear as a PvP player...

PvE players were always able to buy "our gear" via gold without having to do a single minute of PvP, right?

Don't get me wrong, i was ok pre IC to get "some" gear from PvE like the undaunted sets. Right now I need to do 100% PvE to get new VR16 gear because of this trophy nonsense etc. and it looks like it won't get better with Orsinium so I have to spend more of my valuable time doing things I don't like in ESO to get gear for my preffered part of the game: PvP

That just sucks! I want to get a chance to earn my gear progress by doing what I love most in ESO, not what I hate most 100% of the time with all this RNG...

PS: For me this step and the fact they announced it like a big deal for us is nothing but a clear evidence they are not reading the PvP forums AT ALL!

I figured there was more to it than meets the eye, thanks for the confirmation! I'm pumped for the motifs being AP-gated. Even when there really good set items that could only be bought with AP (and I do hope we see more along this line!), there were always items that other people wanted for their builds which I was never going to use. So even after gearing up, I could still use my hard-earned AP for economic advantage. I think the key to AP's continued success as a currency/carrot, however, is going to be from strong gear sets. The motif is a fantastic bonus, but unless PvPers have access to useful gear that's gated by PvP, we're still going to feel sold a little short.

The Tel Var Stone system was a very fascinating attempt, but it ultimately fell short as a PvP-viable carrot for a few reasons. First, and absolutely foremost, it required someone to invest PvE time into getting the stones to begin with. If you're taking stones from a PvP player, that means they had to have spent time doing PvE when they probably wanted to PvP. If you take them from a PvEer, it's probably an uninteresting fight for an unassured reward (after all, they might not have found any yet). Thing is, they're not going to come back to fight and die again, they're going to move on. Even if they did come back, it's kind of cruel to farm them for 2 stones over and over again. Worse, it's more efficient just to farm them yourself.

A good PvP currency is like AP from previous patches. It was useful for getting gear, you got it every time you won a fight, and you don't have to rely on preliminary PvE farming to get it. You could also sell the gear to PvE types, which enriches everyone's experience.

No they are not. Otherwise they would have thought of some more things to spend AP on right away instead of a useless crafting style.
I mean come on, you can't tell me they don't know what we want... they just got to read these forums and have plenty of good input for things to spend AP on that would make PvP players happy.

If you can sell it for gold it's not worthless. I just hope the style isn't hideous.

This argument is invalid in my personal opinion for two reasons:

    1. We cannot buy gear for gold... PvE players were always able to buy the PvP sets like Ravager, Shadow Walker etc. via gold without being forced to do PvP at all. But PvP players always were forced into mindless PvE to obtain for example undaunted sets, IC trophies for jewelry and so on.

I highly doubt we PvP players will be able to use our gold to buy the new Maelstrom Arena sets...

    2. We all know ZOS will add this crafting style to the crown store, probably only weeks after Orsinium's release just like they did it for the Glass style. Of course there will still be people who want to buy it via gold instead of crowns but it will most definitle impact the pricing quite a bit.

@Legedric Great responses to @JDar, exactly what I would have said.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is just an AP sink to clear out the large amounts that people have stored up so they can release the real goodies later. They already said before they didn't want to release v16 gear available with AP because of the large amounts that people have stored up, as it would allow those to be geared far too easily after the update.
