Maintenance for the week of April 6:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – April 6

Gutted i have to do Cadwell's silver....then gold !!

CL1NTBEA5TWOOD
Just finished the main story...got to level 49.... then find out I have to do both these quests to hit vet 10+

Gutted....I don't get to play that much as I have kids ...a life etc... don't think ill ever get to end-game content in this game.

ZOS.... please make xp boosts drop from quests, bosses etc like other MMO's.... would make this process so much better.

XP potions and scrolls from crown store are too expensive.

I'v only began the 2nd area in Gold and I'm midway to vet 13. I'm assuming it's possible to hit vet 16 in Gold. I've done no grinding, no pvp with that character and no xp potions. Have done all quests though.

Cadwell Silver and Gold are a pain in the ass.

1st time was bad 3rd time was a mindless grind.

Only hope when they scrap VET levels they scrap/revamp them.

just do the main zone quests in each zone and move forward. It's not like you *must* do everything in the area.

Dropping experience drinks as a reward would degrade the benefit of mastering provisioning, that should never happen.

Well the good news is there really isn't any end game.
Trials are toast, DSA same except for doing them just to do them (if you can find a group)
    If you PVP, there's that.
IC is just for grinding for gear you don't need to do nothing.

So until ZOS figures out what they're doing here, your best bet is to relax, explore, enjoy the quest stories, take your time and don't worry about getting to something that isn't really there.

How do you know what the main quests are? It seems that there are three for each zone, ones that give you a skill point at the end. But where do you find out the starting quest for each of the main quests? I'd love if someone could provide a link for these. Thanks

I'll give it a better look. All I saw was " complete silver" in my journal. But seems like there is more info I'm missing. Never mattered when I leveled my first toon because I completed everything in every zone. But now my new toon is v9 fighting v4 mobs, and I just kinda want to get to Gold and grind away. Taking way too long.

    Thanks

I'm pretty sure that once you start silver and get VR1 you don't have to do anything else storywise to level up. If you want Cyrodiil and or IC just go there and level up through the school of hard knocks.

I've leveled faster in IC than I have anywhere else in game.

Edit: the only reason you need to finish silver is to gain access to the gold areas

And you don't even have to do the Silver/Gold checklists linearly. You can do the longest one first if you want. Or the shortest one. The only prerequisite for Gold is that everything is checked off for Silver. Aim for one zone a night and you'll be to Gold in less than a week. And there's really no rush to finish Gold because it doesn't unlock anything.

That would make it just like every other crafting trade in the game. Big whooop.

You don't have to do silver and gold to level up. There are other ways to level up as fast as questing or even faster. But if you want to get some skyshards, skill points from quest, lore books and stories you have to complete silver and start gold so you can access zones of all 3 alliances.

Silver and Gold should have, either, been optional or should have had a story option rather than the current one (which I am not going to spoil here).

This is one reason that I favour the removal of Vet Ranks. Having max level at 50 might make people feel like they can look into end-game at 50 rather than wade through Silver and Gold and then look at it. Of course the CP problem still arises but here's hoping that ZOS can do something about that one.

Er Cadwell is optional? You can do whatever the hell you like when you finish the main story. Cadwell just offers a ton of skill points/skyshards/lorebooks and achievements along side some good exp points.

Kind of confused about how you're getting XP.

The 2nd Gold area has VR7 mobs, at VR13 you're 6 levels above which means you get no XP. Yes, you'll get quest XP but without mob XP your progress will be noticeably slower.

...and all of the crafting materials needed for anything above VR1. Yep. Definitely sounds optional to me.

It doesn't work like that at VR. You can be VR16 and still get XP from level 45 mobs in Coldharbor. That's because, for the purposes of calculating the no-XP cutoff, all VR players are treated as level 50. Now, the XP will be quite low, but for someone going for 100% completionism, there's way more XP available than needed.

I'm gonna give it you you straight here. Cadwell's silver+gold is all the result of the relentless QQ by diehard ES fans pre-beta. Endless and endless QQ about not being able to explore all the zones on one character. Booohooo!!! I only wanna be my dark elf QQ Booohooo!!! Seriously, it was insane. Almost like people didn't understand what an MMO based on 3 faction warfare is. As a result, the devs caved in while already being pretty far in development, and in their knee-jerk reaction they "invented" the VR system. You would be able to see all alliance areas on one character! It's beyond stupid. The story they came up with to make sense of the VR lvls is the worst I've ever seen. It's so lazy, laughable, unexciting and just plain ***. On top of that it made ESO players face a grind that puts most korean MMO's to shame and the game lost thousands of subs because of it. I feel so dishearted while playing on my alt right now, because I know I have to endure everything again.

It's the same bs they did to the starting areas, where you could skip them entirely and the story got totally borked. They even had to get a different voice-actor for the profet -_- All because those starting areas didn't feel like an ES experience to the reviewers (who played for like 1,5 hours....) It's not enough like SKYRIM!!!! * RAGE * It was too confined, to railroaded.... As if the rest of the game was not linear, right!?

Thanks you ES fans! I feel ashamed to be part of your bunch at times!

Look..I enjoyed doing all of the zones on my first toon. But I think he has a point. Having to quest through normal, silver, and gold on an Alt is brutal. So lots of people grind the same mobs over and over, which is also kinda boring. Personally, I would've preferred leveling three different toons in three different factions to experience those factions quests. And be done with it at level 50. I think many people would agree with me.

Actually, I do agree with you. I liked Cadwell's because I was used to playing my DK and didn't want to start over in soul shriven gear with no skills, but I actually did it anyway, after I finished Cadwell's on my original DK, just for something to do. I like questing (*shrug*). A level cap of 50 would have been perfectly fine with me, and people could have gone off to do PvP or crafting or start a new character or whatever.

I don't see myself doing Cadwell's again though...that would be a little tedious, even for me. My new characters will be stuck at whatever they're at when I finish the main story.

It's this desire for max level and end-game that makes people view the core content of this game as a grind. They had an AMAZING opportunity here to create a game that didn't focus on levels. Be more Elder Scrolls-esque in allowing players to go quest and explore wherever they want, whenever they want, and not have to worry about being an appropriate level to do so like in other MMOs and RPGs. The "levels" could have come solely from skill lines, and unlocked new abilities and morphs as you progress, rather than gating players behind traditional level walls that impede player freedom. In an Elder Scrolls game...

The entire game would have been end-game. Questing and exploring would have been optional fun, for collecting skyshards and lore books, and boosting Fighter's Guild progress. PVP in Cyrodiil would have been much more balanced. And new expansions would have a larger audience because anyone can quest anywhere at any time.

It's such a shame they didn't think about making an Elder Scrolls game, and were instead completely focused on reskinning a stereotypical MMO model. The irony is that Destiny created the levelling model that ESO should have used, but dropped the ball in content quantity. ESO nailed the content, but *** up the levelling system. Destiny nailed the levelling system but *** up the content. Someone, please get this right!

I'm an ES fan but never wanted Cadwell's Silver and Gold. I can't bring myself to play through silver and gold as they are a repeat of the last campaign I had already done. I shall be stuck at v1 for the rest of my days, methinks.

Besides, RNG has not been kind to my character in my first playthrough why would I want to go through it a second and third time? Unless something spectacular happens and soon, I'll be waiting for a new game to come out.
