I like the account name in guild chat. But then I am only in a guild with friends who have played together across multiple MMO's over the years. Now, no matter what alt or character they are on, it is easy to know who is who.
This is a game where less than 24 hours after early launch, gold spammers were buying new accounts constantly in order to get around the account ignores. Of course there are going to be random names being generated in order to try to hack accounts.
Hell, I still occasionally get an emails from my two year old world of warcraft account asking if I requested a password change.
Passwords are for security, not account names that anyone can find.
edit -- Ugg, want servers back up lol, so bored that I'm actually wasting time posting in the forum.

This is my Signature, but not really because I didn't sign it with a pen and its not my name.
I agree with the op. It breaks immersion. It is one less thing hackers have to look for. It removes the relative "quiet" I enjoy when I'm on an alt. There are better ways to do this.
Account wide ignore an membership is good, but please display accountname only in roster or on mouseover. There is a total disconnect between char-name and the name the player is known by.
While our teams may see these kinds of suggestions on the forums, a great place to submit feedback about the game is to use the /feedback command in game. Thanks for letting us know!
