I'm not a scrub so I can clearly see that CP is not an issue. Lazy druggie gamers, that's an issue.
I used to think that way back when CP was relatively low. A few days ago I fought a terrible player with 1200 CP. I was enlightened by the experience. Thats 1200 CP. Lets talk about what 600 CP buys you.
+24% Damage Done, +24% Regen, -24% Damage Taken, -24% Ability Cost. This is insignificant in your "engineering" mind right? Go back to school.
Just because these scrubs can play 10 more games of chess than you or I can each day, doesn't mean they should start each game with 4 queens.
All they are doing is AOEing NPCs all day with EXP pots. Why should that be rewarded in PvP?

Way off.....maybe you're just feeling entitled to "competitiveness" or a "power level" you didn't work towards? The reality is I'm a successful engineer who works hard for everything I have including CPs. My opinion is to not ask for hands outs or for a trophy for just showing up to try-outs.

No no no. Your are assuming everything else is completely equal. CP is one part of the equation. If two people are wearing the same gear, eat the same food, use the same skills, then the guy with 1200 CP will probably win unless he makes a mistake. That's life, get used to it. If you want to beat a 1200 CP guy then make sure you have tri food, tri pots, and the best grear you can come up with. Use skills to counter or mitigate good players best moves. Play smart. Try to strike first. The other guy may have more CP but that doesn't stop you from being superior in some other way.
What I'm saying is that CP is just a part of the game and not even the biggest part. Your gear is much more important; Id say at least 50% of the equatiion. Saying CP ruins cyrodiil is just as true as saying food and potions and gear ruin cyrodiil. My food buffs my magicks by 33%, my stam by 16%, and my health by 12%. My potions restore 20% of my my stam, increase its recovery by 20%, and increase my weapon power by 20%. There is a bunch of crazy strong stuff in this game you can do to counter someone with high CP.
Of course there are gonna be guys out there with 600 cp, and great gear, and great food, and great potions. To answer your question above, yes, they deserve to be powerful. That's their reward for their work. It's our job to better ourselves and take them down.
There was a poll a while back about whether cp effects cyrodiil. It was split pretty closet to 50/50. I hope my explainable above helps you and many others see where the other 50% of us are coming from. Plus, why waste dev time on something that aint broke. Seriously.

These people claiming to be engineers are hurting my head. I hope they haven't been involved in any bridges i use or any addons for eso.
Obviously if someone has enough time and motivation to accumulate 1200 CP, they will have the endgame gear, potions, etc any casual everyday player will be using. And to say someone with 2 to 10 times as many CP as someone else doesn't have a clear advantage is just ignorant.
All this 'crazy strong stuff' (what you call food/drinks and potions, i guess) everyday players already use. The major difference between the everyday casual player and 'basement dwellers' is not the easily obtainable endgame elite gear or max level, but the double to tenfold difference in CP.
