I caught this...it was good to hear but did anyone catch the other reference when the response to how long it takes to create one zone vs Orsinium?

Q: How long does it take to create a new zones in the studio?

A: If you are creating a zone the size of Glenumbra or Auridon, it takes about 30 to 33 weeks, including the QA time, but for larger zones, like Orsinium, it takes even longer than that.

Orsinium will be larger than either Glenumbra or Auridon.

THIS. We've been promised a "solo PvE zone" for so long, I'm gonna be pissed if there isn't actually any repeatable content for endgame solo players.

So, assuming Orsinium is released late December (the last point at which they could meet their Q4 timeline), you think that Orsinium is enough larger than Glenumbra or Auridon that it took them almost 6 times as long to make and QA it?

As long as it has been since it was announced it should be the size of an alliance campaign.

Um, 33 weeks is actually less than 1 year which consists of 52 weeks.

But still. If it takes them ~9 months to develop a new zone the size of Orsinium, why the hell did they tease it at QuakeCon 2014 when they knew it wouldn't be ready at least for another year (and as we know now, closer to two years in case of Murkmire)? I still feel bitter about it.

Not sure where they got their timeline, but it's been about 60 weeks since they had enough of it done to show off in Quake Con 2014. And for them to be showing it off it had to have at least 20 weeks worth already done (compared to today's development team size).

Truth is probably that it has been done for PC and shelved collecting dust for a while so console wouldn't get everything for the initial purchase price of the game and now (if anything) they are just making sure the console UI works with it.

Edit: made it a bit more cynical

Implying that the only reason to play a game or DLC for a game is to grind out levels.

I dunno about you, but I personally enjoy DLC because it is different and fun. Adding levels makes it less fun because rather than focusing on content, story, potential new mechanics, etc. I am focusing on the grind by trying to gain what I lost, and what is more boring than the grind?

People will buy the DLC because it's the PVE VR15/16 content as opposed to IC, which is PVP VR15/16 content.
This has been made abundantly clear at this point.

I just hope the content is any good. I enjoyed lv 1 - 50 but the story was missing something, the feeling that anything I did mattered. I also found a lot of the main characters forgettable.
I really didn't like the Cadwell Silver and Gold as it felt completely pointless. Having said that I thought the AD content was one of the best because they make you a Queen's Eye and then keep you moving because of that, not through a series of random messengers hoping to meet anyone on the road, i.e. pact.

Thanks for this. I really need to catch up on ESO Live again :)
Why would someone go to a solo-adventure zone if they are max level?
    For the story?
What will the story be in orsinium?
@YurtTheSilentChief Assuming they haven't completely rewritten it (which is possible), the story is supposed to be about the Orcs' status in the Daggerfall Covenant and the different cultural beliefs of the Orcs. The Orcs in Wrothgar (the region surrounding Orsinium) who follow the Code of Malacath are in opposition to a sect of Orcs who follow Trinimac and want to do away with the Code. The followers of Trinimac are supported by some of the Orcs of Orsinium (the city), who follow King Kurog.
And this will likely tie into that as an ongoing project:
Orsinium will be rebuilding the city, they talked about it a long time back. the city was sacked not that long ago so the main storyline is supposed to be you helping one of x# of rival factions and rebuilding the city. So it will probably still be something close to that.

Since players will scale to the level of Wrothgar/Orsinium, I believe the best level for the content to be native at would be Level 50. VR15/16 players would still get their appropriate VR15/16 rewards, but the content itself would be set ready for the removal of VRs.

Well, then I've got some good news and bad news for you.

The good news is that a player will now be able to make a real meaningful difference in the world, and effect lasting changes.

The bad news is that some other player already did it before you.

Skyrim is already in the game (Eastmarch and the Rift). We won't see the rest of the province any time soon. The announced areas in development are Murkmire (Black Marsh), Abah's Landing (looked like Hammerfell), the Spiral Skein (Mephala's realm) and Clockwork City (somewhere under/around Morrowind). Moreover, the Aldmeri Dominion doesn't have any planned new zone and they need some love too.

Dragons are mostly extinct or in hiding in this era. We could see one as a raid boss somewhere, but there's absolutely no chance we'll be hunting them en masse like in Skyrim.

Imo, the reason this all seems kinda skewed is that the original design of the game was corrupted in the early stages.
It was not intended that you go through all alliances on one character, you were supposed to pick one and stick with it.
People got upset that they would have to roll alts to see all the factions, so we ended up with this mish-mosh mess called Vet levels, that ZOS now has to try and get us out of.

Not sure exactly what you mean, Cadwell's Silver and Gold have been in the game and Playable since at least October of 2013, VR10 was the cap then. Which means it has been in development for much longer than that. I had my first VR character 3 or 4 months before the game even launched.

When the game was in development before open beta, ZOS announced the race lock and faction lock. So EP was only playing the EP zones and that was it. The outcry was insane for Elder Scrolls fans as they wanted to experience the game and go anywhere on one character just you can in any other ES game.

Let me stop you right here. While it's true that most every ES fan has always enjoyed being able to go anywhere they wish, whenever they wish, there's a very small minority that actually wants to be able to do everything on every character. When Skyrim was released, a ton of people I knew were pissed that several of the Dragon Walls were locked behind factions, so even if you didn't want to join the Mage's Guild, you were forced to if you wanted to learn every single shout in the game completely. And don't even get me started on the mandatory Thieves' Guild invitation the moment you walked into Riften. That was probably one of the stupidest design decisions in any Bethesda game next to the Potato faces of Oblivion.

So yeah, while many if not all TES fans want to be able to go everywhere, not all of them want to do and experience everything on one character.
I really don't get the attraction, if there are no levels gear will be sideways from IC gear. So what is the motivation to buy something so you can mash E a lot to get past all the sophomoric scripts written by under-payed and un-inspired writers so you can get to the mark and press E again, or the circle and kill everything there so you can hurry back and mash E again for some more depressingly bad writing? If there is no gear to get there is no point.

I was watching my son play some Skyrim yesterday and the differences in the quality of writing, music, game-play and the world is just so remarkable. It really saps one's motivation to go to the crown store to buy a bear skin.

    Ahahaha
    Ahahahahahahahahaha

The only thing that Skyrim has over ESO the actual "play how you want" idea Zenimax tried to push with ESO before they nerfed everything that Wrobler didn't like.

    That'd be good.

I'm fine with the regular zones being locked to a faction, and by extension dungeons. It makes sense with the story. But since cross-faction dungeon grouping (if/when implemented) is optional, I don't mind either way.

I do think Craglorn should be cross-faction, and any new PvE zones they add. It actually might cut down on people building new toons in other factions, and instead playing the ones they have harder. Or instead have multiple toons in one faction to PvP with to better fight for their favored alliance.

I for one think like every other game and MMO normally depending on content if it is endgame or not you have to raise the level cap if you are expanding the end game as well as add new content, loot, and etc. So no level cap makes no sense to me as part of what is great about expansions is knowing that you will have more leveling to do along with new content period. I for one say get rid of vet ranks and then raise level caps as normally done with any new expansion that expands on the endgame. At least I know when it comes to PvE in MMOs that is how it works because once leveling is over all you have in PvE is raiding or other group content over and over again until next new expansion comes along to levitate some of that repetition and expand on the PvE and its story some more which is different from and not as simple as what PvP's needs and expectations are which are a lot less.
