Putting all my brainpower and very heavy thinking into this new and welcomed feature leads me to the conclusion that it probably won't change anything. Why go there, if you have like 5+ other campaigns with open access for everyone?

For those too .. passive... to look:
    Cyrodiil Campaign Changes
We will be closing the Thornblade campaign on the PC/Mac North American and European megaservers with this patch, and introducing our first Imperial City gated access campaign: Axe of Belharza.
If you have earned at least Tier 1 rewards in Thornblade at the time it is closed, you will receive them shortly after logging in.
Anyone previously assigned to Thornblade will receive a free home campaign reassignment.
The Axe of Belharza campaign has the same scoring methods as Thornblade:
Resources, outposts, and Elder Scrolls will generate zero points. Ownership of keeps will generate one point per scoring cycle
The campaign has a 7-day duration.
Both Veteran and non-Veteran player characters may join this new campaign.
Access to the Imperial City is gated in the Axe of Belharza campaign by owning your native six keeps.
Power level to CP160 in a week:
Where is the end game? You just played it.
Why don't I have 300+ skill points? Because you skipped content along the way.
    Where is new content? Sigh.

They have to test the response to IC as it really was intended to be..

Sigh... They said they were gonna do this.. sadly, even tho players SAY they want this, people always take the path of least resistance... Its called the "Principle of Least Effort". Wonder how long it will last.

Plus, no free transfer TO it from other campaigns, to encourage players to move.

To add to it.. the campaign rule set is horrid. It needs to follow the full points for everything rule set like Azura's to even have a chance to attract most AvA players.

Sorry to him but.. @ZOS_BrianWheeler , I am afraid this kinda.. was poorly conceived.

I am afraid this will not change much. For this to get us anywhere it needs to be the rule and not the singular exception. Especially with players already having home campaigns set. They need to leave 2 campaigns with open access, and have the rest be gated.

Honestly I think it might be a good idea for these 2 campaigns I mention to not even have cyrodiil. You enter the queue for these and are put straight into ic. It could just be my bias, but I feel that would make the games pvp much more healthy. Maybe this is an even crazier suggestion for my idea, but these 2 campaigns would not be homed or guested. Anyone can enter them at anytime, and there would be no leader board.

This kind of worries me TBH. I don't want to move my guild to a campaign only for it to close in a couple of weeks for yet another new one.

    I support this post.

Another idea could be to grant a bonus to XP gained on entering Cyrodiil via a gated access point to encourage the need to PVP to gain access in the first place. Maybe a 50-100% xp gain on mobs once inside.

Either all of the campaigns need to be gated or none. The one gated one is going to be extremely unpopular because, given a choice between flipping my keeps to get in and just queueing for another campaign to get in, I will go with the another campaign.

There needs to be some kind of added reward for playing on the gated campaign. 10% more telvar stones or something.

That campaign will most likely be a flop. Gated access is only interesting if ALL CAMPAIGNS HAVE GATED ACCESS.
It's not gated if you can just home another campaign..... Do they ever think their decisions through?

Okay am I the only one who looks at the map and thinks this is ... not well concived (self-edited to avoid W$%#$%#$)

This means that unless the campaigns are somehow magically perfectly balanced, that IC access will be down for at least one alliance.

    This will not go well.

A better idea would have been to require the two keeps "surrounding" the access points in order to be able to enter IC. That would lead to a much more dynamic game.

QFT. That is a really clever idea. So crazy it might work. :)

I can tell you right now I would bet stones that Axe fails miserably and is one color.

Add an XP and AP bonus to Axe like 15 or 20%. Or better yet v16 Shadow or Morag drops in Rewards for the Worthy. You might get enough incentive to go there then. You need to offer some carrot otherwise the path of least resistance is going to win.

Thanks, hopefully we can have some fights like Saturday night.

We're talking with Heroes of Skyrim to see if we can get the old alliance from EP back on a single campaign. I know we're not the favourite enemies of many due to "zerg" but would be nice if we actually required three raids across TS hitting different objectives again.

I want those opening weeks of Thornblade back where we battled like crazy even into the early hours and taking keeps took work.

My concern is that a gated campaign will be host to all of one alliance's PVErs. They just have to roll all the keeps and maintain it that way so that they won't have to PVP in IC.

Still, I think there are enough guilds on each side willing to farm/zergbust these PVErs that maybe it won't be as much of an issue as I fear.

A better idea would have been to requre the two keeps "surrounding" the access points. That would lead to a much more dynamic game.

    Balance is NOT the goal.

    The basic thought process is:
If your faction wants to have access to IC and the goodies inside, they have to take their own home keeps.
If you want only your faction to access to IC and keep the enemy zergs out, you lock the Emp keeps or at least enough so the other faction cannot get into IC.
This makes the zerg have to go out and take back AT LEAST their own keeps to keep access for their faction.

    The reality is:
One faction will take at least the emp keeps, if not the whole map.
People from the other faction will come into the campaign, see the map the other color and leave.
Those people will go to their factions Craglorn, ask which campaign is XYZ color and go home there.
Zergs will camp out INSIDE IC and NEVER have to come out, because they dont care about outside IC, or who has keep access.

    Problem causers?
Ability to camp out and respawn in IC unrestricted.
Ability to lose access to IC outside and still log into IC
People really dont care about their faction having access, just themselves or their guild, in special cases.

TV stones farmers dont care what campaign they are in.
TV stone farming zergs dont care what campaign they are in.
TV stone farmers dont care about AP or the factions score.

BTW.. the two keeps closest to the access points are the MOST LIKELY to be flipped, as they are needed to become Emp. Not sure that was what you meant.
