Consoles: Need a chat box please!

I know there was an old one called "Console: Should text chat be implemented with the IC patch?" but since the IC came out and still no chat box (well unless i dint see that the did put one in XD?) so i thought I would start the poll again to start fresh and new from being after the ic patch.

First i want to say that English is not my best language so sorry in advance about any spelling errors or grammars errors.

I would first like to point out a few advantages for us to have a text chat box for Consoles and other areas to back up the argument to get one.

First advantage would be a second type of communication within the game rather relying only on voice chat that's not all ways reliable.

Second advantage would be that this will give a way of communication for people either with a disability or shy. Such as a mute person who cant talk at all or a person who stutters and is shy to talk on the voice chat.

Third advantage this would be another alternative to the group finder, to have a chat zone for group finding example you are looking for a healer and you can ask in the group finder in the text chat box. This may also better than the group finder because too many times i have seen players who put them self as a tank, healer and a damage dealer all at the same time and that's just not good at all.

Last advantage would help reporting people as you can screenshot the text chat box to show proof. You could also include time brackets beside each sentence to show when each was typed

Even deltia gaming a well known eso youtuber points out that missing a chat box will be a big impact on the game. HERE

Some may not like a chat box because it may fill the screen etc, solution is to have a toggle on/off in the option menu so that can be a win win situation?

Haha yea I agree that we need a new one since the old thread is outdated. I don't believe the op is around anymore to edit his original thread. Maybe the mods lock that one and continue here?

Humm that could be an issue but how about 5min per each comment you post on the main chat boxs so no spam and easyer for admins to block gold spamers (such as the global chat box, and group finder chat box) but no time penalty in a private message prmim guild chats or party chats.

also this is for consouls its hards for gold spammers because you need PlayStation plus etc and Xbox live subscription to use the internet so they would lose more money than gain money

Yes. It would make the game much more sociable experience considering that now no one wants to use area chats due to screamers and background lovers.

Much easier to find groups, sell stuff and recruit for guilds using text chat.

On top of that some people who play this game have disabilities. Such as can't speak.

of course WITH a support for keyboard (yes, even on consoles. The ... Controllers are bad when trying to write)

I play xbox on prime time hours and don't have a problem but if for some reason do have problems then I recommend joining a guild that that does group content and let the devs get to work making fixes after the patch

While I agree that a chat box is needed for console, I have a strong feeling that Zenimax will continue to ignore these types of threads that we've been continuing to make. But yes, I definitely feel we should have a chat box. An MMO without a chat box / text box was virtually unheard of, before ESO.

So you are saying that you can sucessfully trade consistently day in and day out in mournhold, daggerfall, and other major hubs? You have enough guild mates that you can do any group dungeon at any time? You are definitely one of the lucky ones.

I agree that fixes need to come first in the next patch but this issue needs to be addressed soon.. Either by a revamped group finder, dedicated trade chat channel, customizable chat bubbles, or text chat which would address both trading and grouping with one fell swoop

What about if there is an option to have it on or have it off, with it off being the defult just like how you can hide you helmet but it on a defult then that would be a win wim situation?

What they're implying is, basically ZOS has a habit of ignoring their customers/player base. There could be something that the community could be constantly bringing to Zenimax's attention for weeks, and they'd completely disregard it (e.g. the text chat option on console).

Fact is ZOS is always open to ideas and they ARE in fact "interested" in how we feel about the needs of this game.. The minute any gaming developer is not "interested" in what the majority of the player base wants is the minute their game starts to fail.

But what am I saying? You have insider information and speak for ZOS on this matter from on high to us peasants.

The idea is to get as many people as possibly to at least see this page and have their say. Let's say 2k people should do it for zos to take a notice. After that if they still keeps ignoring this, send them an email about it. Who knows, maybe they didn't see the post. Lol

I wish there was a way to get all the comments from the old thread to this one...can't say the same with votes though since some of the people who said no didn't want it before IC and preferred bug improvements instead...but now IC is out, context is a bit difference

But now it looks like we will be repeating ourselves...again...

ZOS actually stated before release when the question of in game text chat was first raised that they have no intensions of implementing txt chat on consoles and as they are proud of their proximity based voice chat I doubt very much that they have changed their mind on the issue

I didn't have any intention of buying ESO....but I did.

I highly doubt that the original plan for ESO was to go b2p either.

Intentions change based any number of factors.

That is the part I do not understand...

They are proud of what? Being too lazy to their player base options? I could see them pounding their chest and being proud of voice chat if they would have made it in addition to text chat like they actually did us a favor or something lol..
