Fact is ZOS is always open to ideas and they ARE in fact "interested" in how we feel about the needs of this game.. The minute any gaming developer is not "interested" in what the majority of the player base wants is the minute their game starts to fail.

But what am I saying? You have insider information and speak for ZOS on this matter from on high to us peasants.

ZOS actually stated before release when the question of in game text chat was first raised that they have no intensions of implementing txt chat on consoles and as they are proud of their proximity based voice chat I doubt very much that they have changed their mind on the issue

That is the part I do not understand...

They are proud of what? Being too lazy to their player base options? I could see them pounding their chest and being proud of voice chat if they would have made it in addition to text chat like they actually did us a favor or something lol..

Nah I don't believe it's laziness.. They do care for what they've created ( what dev doesn't care about their code, it's like an author caring for their book). They came in to this idea with good intentions but I'm just not sure how practical it is turning out to be. When you have so many people converging in small areas, just like in real life it becomes hard to hear in a crowd. It's kind of like being in a bar on Friday night.. When people talk to you, you just kind of nod your head but can't really hear what they're saying

There are two ESO live episodes on consoles where also they address this request in my signature.

It's nothing wrong with posting but just be aware of what the company has shared is all I'm hoping to point out.

Yes yes yes please!! Communication is what keeps an MMO player base strong and it is hard to communicate with the limited voice chat we have now. Not everyone can talk due to personal reasons (IE.. baby is sleeping, mic is broken, to many yik yaks yapping in group chat already..etc!!) but everyone should be able to throw up a few lines of text every now and then. Couple this with the fact that the new Imp City DLC seems to be heavily favored for grouping up, a change is needed or the player base might start dwindling.

Console text chat is coming .... they just need to re-skin a few more limited-time tigers to afford the development.

Well, please add text because it enhances your game and from the many forum topics going up over this most agree while a few very vocal do not (in my mind as it may detract their competitive advantage as their playstyle WORKS in this current meta).

Please listen to your masses of players before they speak with their wallets and not words. We know the $ is the loudest but we hope to have a THRIVING game hence words and not $ yet. Not that my $15 will make or break a company but enough will, I would gladly hand it over every month if I felt it was worth it and a lack of text is making it not worth it.

It's silly to not have text chat, my house is loud with children etc so i rarely use voice chat on my ps4, it is absolutely goofy to not offer the most basic mmo function for communication. I mean sometimes i just want to play a game not carry on a conversation with someone constantly.

Yup. No logical reason NOT to have optional Text Chat. Lets get it in the game. Developers change their minds all the time for the better of their game and this is no exception. Lets support this feature being added.

Well if voice chat is being added to text chat on pc i fail to see why consoles can't have both?? I paid the same money as the pc guys for this game and i pay (for now) the same for my ESO+
Every video/ advertisement / blog i read from zos and bethesda prior to realease promised me the same experience as what was available on pc, so please hurry up and give us the text box this game needs so much

If WoW came out for conservative I'd definitely would be playing it.

i dont even play on console...or P.C any longer. and i want console to have a chat box.

for a game to put hundreds of people together and not have a chat box...is like....cereal with no milk! you just dont do it!

I left two weeks after release because of the lack of a chat box, but keep checking back every now and then hoping something changes.

So sad that I wasted $80 on this game...guess I'll check again in a month or so.

I can agree with and understand your frustration. Even fairly old console MMOs like DCUO have text chat, it is a pretty standard, useful, and wanted feature.

As has normally been the case, the overwhelming majority of players participating in the poll want for consoles to get text chat. I hope that ZOS will take note and implement it as quickly as possible.

They are probably prioritizing the bugs and long loading screens that make the game unplayable.

But it does make me wonder, since pc is getting controller support, how are they implementing controller support for pc, and do bugs and long loading screens...

I kinda hope they do the bugs and long loading screens as a priority first...I mean in all honesty I'd rather just get text chat first, but at least I can understand that they are working on the bugs first to make the game more playable...

But I also wonder why they can't just confirm text chat for us, like they did for pc. Apparebtly they acknoledged the fact that they see our posts on an ESO love once...but still. They confirmed controller support for pc, and in all honesty, I haven't seen any fights or debates over 70 pages for controller support...

I mean maybe it's just the fact adding the keyboard functionality...with all its keys compared to a controller takes time but again...just confirm it's in the process...

TL;DR, I understand they they may wanna worry about the bug issues to make the game more playable, but why can't they provide and confirmation? What is going on in ZoS that are making it hard for them to say yes to this, when the majority...and by majority I mean over 85% of the players, maybe more, want text chat? Especially after they said that they would add it if enough people requested it

Definitely should have some other form of communication. On PC we have vent or TS for voice plus text for MMOs. I don't know why they limited this game to one form of chat for console.

However, I noticed that since the update, I no longer get thrown into chat whenever I log or zone. I have also noticed the airwaves aren't as cluttered with coughing, arguments, and kids singing along to bieber songs. Much appreciated change. Thank you!

I don't understand the lack of text chat. Coming from ffxiv, and wow before that, and almost every other online game, it's basically a necessity. Without it the world feels empty and antisocial. I don't like having chat open in a town where people have open mics, etc. It's annoying. Make the text hidden, or in a menu, or something. Just make it available and I'll be happy.
