This entire system breeds nothing but hate and greed. It sets all the players at one another's throats. The people that scheme and plot and exploit to get the major city spots, the people that hate those people, the people that hate having to teleport around trying to see what each of those vendors has, then hating themselves for feeding these "bad" guilds, but being to lazy to actually try and shop around to the more remote vendors.
There are a million issues with the entire system and honestly imho, it never should have launched, let alone lasted this long.
The people saying "no, it will ruin the economy allowing players to take control and gouge people on prices, blah blah blah", to that I say phooey! It's already happening and has been happening for ages. The same guilds that have same spots in the major spots dictate the prices, how is that any different than what they would do in a global auction house?
If anything, the prices would be lower, because people would be able to undercut them more visibly, which would mean others would have more gold to spend, and be willing to spend it on other things.

To this statement I'll make a broad generalization about Auction Houses, based on my experience playing every mmo that's hit the market in the past 15 years. Every MMO with an auction house has a terrible economy, run by a few elitist hardcore grinders and bots. I have not played one title in 15 years with an auction house that did anything for me as far as making money, or getting a fair price for the things I need. This system works, and on a side note, why does it have to change to be like every other mmo that I no longer play.
