I really like this system. It leaves a lot of hidden gems to be discovered if you put out the effort to look. I like the interaction with people rather than dump a ton of stuff and undercut everyone.

Definitely. Especially on console where there is virtually no player interaction. Besides PvP. Although crowded with people, the lack of communication and economy makes it feel lonely/ empty.

I couldn't give two *** about who "controls the market" and who is making the most gold. I just want to sell and buy stuff from other players.

I said no, because I think you mean like a centralized system for buying and selling items.

However, I wouldn't mind if there was an actual building that was dedicated to being a market, a place where players could organize actual live auctions using /yell and /say. That would be pretty cool, and it would be a good place to put some new guild merchant locations.

I would not like an auction house system but I like the guild system.
It would be better if the guild traders were still spread out but organized so you could port from one to another but I feel the same about set crafting stations too

    Why not?
Would free up the guild gold to be invested in say..... "An instanced guild hall" customised by the trusted officers and guild masters.... coming various benefits to the guild members as long as they wear a tabard.... requiring gold to have upkeep and upgrades etc.

A global trade market with a clearer UI for the trade system, easier search criteria and have the addition of named or 'search by name' searches.... scouring through the varied prices of items encompassing a wider spectrum of players rather than being limited to the 2 3 or maybe 5 guilds in your immediate vicinity. Would especially be more helpful on console, I see too many people trying to sell a purple maple lightening staff with "weighted" for 49k.

So many things they could implement if the trade system was global. Removing the "rent a trader" requirements and introducing other things like as suggested above.

An "average price" should be implemented too.... 1x wormwood is not worth 1000 gold. And one nirncrux of any kind is not worth 80k for one. - having a price limit on how much you can sell for (changes with average price brought for within a 24hr period) + make under cutting nearly impossible.

So average price of nirncrux is say 30k... (an example... I've brought many for 16, 17 and 18k)
The global market will allow you to sell for 29500 - 32500 this average would change... (or not) every 24 hrs depending on how much it's brought for, but will never go below a certain threshold (won't ever be 2k a stone etc)
There are flaws and manipulation is possible. But if it is monitored, global trade would be a success.

    Too many opportunists.....
Or stuff all this and do a C.O.D. system monitored via this very forum where prices are determined by supply and demand. . ON A TRADE FORUM. I'd like to know if I get a gd price..

    NO WAY !!!!!!!

Gidorick's Auction Horse is not only a nice and creative idea, but it's also a meme, a tradition, just like Gina, The Natch Potes' Seagulls and the arrows in the knees.

Actually, it's the one and only positive effect of each and every of those "auction house threads" that seem to be as resistant as cockroaches in a nuclear eruption.

Long live the Auction Horse !!!

I don't want a global auction house, as i like the 'shopping' aspect of going through the kiosks when buying.

However, i would like some easier way to sell your goods. If you are not in a guild with a good trader, selling is not easy. Maybe allowing individual players to go to a kiosk and put your wares on it(and only on it, not global), for a fee, would be good. The fee could be set by the kiosk owner(guild) and go towards their funds.

Which would be an acution house.

No, that would not be an auction house. It would be the same system that is already in game(separate kiosks selling separate wares, unlike a global auction house), except that you would not have to be a member of the guild owning the kiosk to sell your wares there (instead, you would pay them for the posting).

Unguilded players selling there loot at any kiosk would lead to what? An auction house in one specific spot. You like to shop around, pick daisies, but when you want to sell.. you want an auction house.

@PsychoKRATOS1 I keep the link in my signature down below, but I'll put the link HERE for ease of clicky-ness.

It's a concept that was born out of the mixed pun of "Auction House" and "Stop beating the dead horse"... at one point I thought... "Heheh... stop beating the dead Auction Horse." and my imagination kind of took over from there.

I also had another "Stop beating the dead horse" idea with Target/Training dummies. You can check that out HERE.

It's kind of funny that out of all the ideas I've posted (and I've posted DOZENS - repository link HERE) the two that I have the most affection for are the two that were born out of interactions with this forum. :smirk:

I think what @anitajoneb17_ESO said is probably why I love those ideas so much. If they were implemented they would be things that were born from the community and those of us who uderstood the origins of the features would kind of be in on the in-side joke.

Another two other "community memes" I would love zos to release in the Crown Store is the In Game Headnetch as a costume that replaces JUST our helmet and maybe @ZOS_JasonLeavey's hair once the in-game barber shop gets released. (that's actually kind of a ESO-Live forum deep cut there. It was a thing for a while)

ANYWAY... back to the Auction Horse. Yes. Please. It would really support the Guild Store system and would allow players the option to view many guild stores at once. I should probably go over the thread to see if any edits/changes need to be made. :smirk:

An idea borne of a joke. I love it.
However... being able to see all guild stores at once would somewhat have an effect on what people worry about without a mechanism to prevent severe undercutting.

I'm open to all ideas in all honesty. Pros and cons are very apparent with an auction house idea... As for the undercutting issue, which everybody uses to undermine the idea of an AH , Other than to be "that guy" you know the one who just wants a sale and doesn't value his time or effort very highly. There's a point where the item becomes "worthless" and not worth the time to collect/even put in the market, which should act as a deterrent to undercutting in the first place. Undercutting issues are so easy to faze out and just require a min/max price (small margin) debate, something that should change with demand... only for "most traded items" like trait armour/weapons/nirncrux/tempers/resins/(the clothing one) etc to have a set price.

The problem with auction houses is that people... ie developers, do not plan them correctly.
Wouldn't it be nice to have an instanced multi-alliance guild hall with lasting benefits to spend gold on instead of a 'gamble' or lottery trader you probably won't get (your gold just sits dormant)?

-in the world of constant change and efficiency, the "we will *never* implement an auction house in ESO" comment is ... regardless of their steadfast refusal to implement trading simplicity.... en mass...still subject to change. Never say never.

Coming from World of Warcraft, SWTOR, Runescape even... I do NOT want some boring auction house. At first I absolutely despised this tedious guild trading thing, but it actually is an incredibly diverse and well thought out system. It makes the game challenging, and it prevents elitist people from 'playing the auction house' so to speak where they just buy stuff and resell it higher, essentially making a monopoly.

Auction houses ruin the game. Tbh, the auction house completely ruined World of Warcraft. Players made millions, even billions, just by capitalizing their income on the AH with little to no effort. In addition, it only encourages bots.

A server-faction-wide trading hub would make the ESO economy bristle. Why wouldn't this be a good thing for the game?

As it currently stands, only the most dedicated players who can meet the requirements of the elite trading guilds have access to a "decent" market for their goods. I don't think this is a good thing for MMO economies, as it wouldn't be in actual ones.

Not to mention that many potential "buyers" are held back from the market due to the unnecessary inefficiency of having to travel to a dozen different "stores" in search of a particular item that itself can not be specifically searched for.

ESO's current medieval economic structure is quaint in thought but an impractical and inefficient economic tool. It is on par with the decision to remove the mini-map from their original UI - which most players then add to their UI via addons. I daresay if a global auction house could be added to the gameplay by addon, most if not ALL players would install it - even those who quaintly want to keep things the same.

Honestly, I LOATHE the trading guilds. IMHO it is a completely outdated method of maintaining a virtual economy. They did this stuff back in the early 2000s in a lot of asian MMOs, and every single one of them ripped it out and made a global auction house eventually.

This entire system breeds nothing but hate and greed. It sets all the players at one another's throats. The people that scheme and plot and exploit to get the major city spots, the people that hate those people, the people that hate having to teleport around trying to see what each of those vendors has, then hating themselves for feeding these "bad" guilds, but being to lazy to actually try and shop around to the more remote vendors.

There are a million issues with the entire system and honestly imho, it never should have launched, let alone lasted this long.

The people saying "no, it will ruin the economy allowing players to take control and gouge people on prices, blah blah blah", to that I say phooey! It's already happening and has been happening for ages. The same guilds that have same spots in the major spots dictate the prices, how is that any different than what they would do in a global auction house?

If anything, the prices would be lower, because people would be able to undercut them more visibly, which would mean others would have more gold to spend, and be willing to spend it on other things.
