Power level to CP160 in a week:
Where is the end game? You just played it.
Why don't I have 300+ skill points? Because you skipped content along the way.
    Where is new content? Sigh.

Yeah the company is new, but the leadership, management and developers are all long-time industry veterans.

Still, I think they have done a great job of creating this game. I play it as much if not more than I played Skyrim.

But to cut them a break just because ZOS was formed to create ESO doesn't wash with me. When I go to a new job, I'm expected to perform up to my capabilities, not re-learn how to write code from scratch each time.

But I do think ESO is a great game overall. There are things I would change to suit myself, but they have done a great job of making a game that has broad appeal and incorporates the Elder Scrolls theme and lore (to a degree anyway).

My wife complains that I never listen to her. (Or something like that.)

    My ESO addons:
Midnight - Find out when midnight is so that you can check for ww/vamp spawn.
Goto - Adds a tab to the map pane allowing you to teleport to a friend, guildmate, or groupmate for free.

Like most games, it has its issues, but on the whole, the game is very good.

Its ambitious, unique and successfully combines many elements and gameplay styles/desires into a single persistent online world.

I am impressed, and usually I abhor MMOs.

I love ESO. There's some things i would change but hopefully in the next year or so they get it more together. I think they just listen to the wrong people like ppl with 500 CP saying the game is too easy. Not everyone is MLG. If it's too easy don't spend your champ points and run around with no armor

Considering that in the beginning you had to buy the game and pay a subscription, and that many (myself included) still pay for a sub, no amount of arguments will let ZOS off the hook for not being able to respond quickly to some of the most crippling bugs, exploits and content issues.

That said, I obviously still think the game is worth my time, or I would have stopped playing.

Is many lore theroys.. but the one i like the best is the dragon tear theroy... ES: daggerfall had it.. multi endings you could get... im not good at explaining rather shocking at anything that isnt hands on.. but you should look it up. If anything it is very interesting idea that covers all the lore stuff ups etc...

They have admitted it is 1000 years before daggerfall... and in a business sense it seems the smartest bcus they can do whatever they want and thenn claim the dragon tear effect left ESO on a different plane of existance along side all the othwr games... (i think i just confused myself.. warhammer 40k lore is easier i swear)

I'm not disagreeing with you, but, can you provide some examples?

1] Not adding Text Chat as it would help players communicate for trading/Grouping and even role playing.

2] The CP system is a system that will discourage any "new sales" of the game as no sane person will want to buy/join a MMO that they will never be able to play on a competitive level with the majority of the player base. The system will only continue to increase a gap between any new player that wants to join and the rest of the player base. MMO's survive only if the number of "New Players" is equal to or greater than the players that leave. This CP system willcinsure that not to many "New Players" are going to be joining the community!

3] The "Road Ahead" is all but forgotten and no longer a thing for showing the players the direction the game will go or what the DEVS are aiming for in the future.

4] We were told the Vet Ranks are going to be removed and yet we are getting an increase to VR16 with very little information as to exactly "WHY" and also there is no new information as to when the VR system is to be removed. I mean what is the deal? Does anyone know what is going on?

5] Lack of communication from the DEVS directly to the players. Players should not have to /search for information regarding the future of the game! Players are left to hunt down tid bits of information on obscure websites and reddit post or some random live stream. When this information should be openly talked about and voiced to the players on the OFFICAL game forums/website.

Those a few off the top.
I say those things with a heavy heart as I truly want ESO to succeed.. I have been waiting on a Elder Scrolls MMO for a very.............Very long time :'(

I love that you are defending a company that you are comparing to a baby.

Also, this analogy doesn't quite work, because the baby isn't trying to sell us anything.

Totally agree with you on that. Not having it is a HUGE mistake!

2] The CP system is a system that will discourage any "new sales" of the game as no sane person will want to buy/join a MMO that they will never be able to play on a competitive level with the majority of the player base. The system will only continue to increase a gap between any new player that wants to join and the rest of the player base. I think the intent of the CP system is to keep the long term players interested in keeping playing. I've argued against it in the past, but I do kind of see the logic in it, from that perspective. I just wish that they could have come up with a mechanic that isn't so punishing to newer players, as you point out. I'm on the fence as to whether or not it will eventually ruin the game. I'm taking a "wait and see" approach to it at this point.

I agree with that. The transparency isn't really there. I know I'd like it more, but I'm not sure how other MMO's go about it, nor am I sure how a company would be able to implement it without revealing it's strategy to competitors. It's a fine line, but so far, ZOS has not engendered any trust in the player base that it will, in fact, keep it's word.
I say those things with a heavy heart as I truly want ESO to succeed.. I have been waiting on a Elder Scrolls MMO for a very.............Very long time :'(

Maybe some of your disappointment falls under the category of expectations out-stripping the reality of it? My first ES game was Skyrim. I've never really played other MMOs, so I really was only looking for a game that looked good and was fun to play. I think ESO has that. As to whether or not it will survive the long term, I can't say, but I choose to remain optimistic.

The game has potential, however, the people in charge are.. less than adequate with their decisions.

One big example is enabling VR support for PC (either Vive or Rift). ZoS has stated that they will not consider adding support, but did not give a reason for doing so. Considering that VR will be an estimated 1.4 billion dollar industry in 2016, the only reason NOT to add support is to spite Facebook/Oculus for poaching Carmack. Adding a 3D UI/Widget to the game, using a headless 3rd person avatar (in first person view, aka: True First Person) and implementing support to the various SDK's are not that hard. I know this because I am developing my own VR game.

If I could add in support for VR into a game that I myself am creating, by myself, as a hobbyist, within a month, then the developers at ZoS could implement it within a week.. or so I would hope. Again, there is no reason not to as there are no royalties for adding support, so all it would cost ZoS is a week of some developers(s') time. Unless of course, it is how I previously mentioned.. that they are doing so out of spite.

Are you serious? I didn't pay for daddy's baby. I paid for a game. A GAME.

Are you seriously arguing that, because this is their first game, Zenimax is entitle to sell something to consumers that doesn't work as promised on the game webpage? A game that has bugs that need to be fixed. A game that could be better? That we should look at the product that we paid for and just sigh and say, "Well, it's not perfect but I'll give them E for effort."

I have a huge problem with this attitude. The sustained employment of this attitude encourages video game companies to continue to release buggy garbage. "We don't have to get it right," they say, even as they put a $50, $60 or $80 price tag on a game, "because people will buy the game even if it's broken."

This argument of "Oh, they did their best" fits right up with "All games are buggy so this one can be buggy, too."

I think Zenimax made a game that has a lot of good elements. It also has a number of lot of bugs and problems. These need to be fixed, because we PAID for the game. And some of us are subbed so we're still paying for the game.

Not being educated enough? If they didn't know what they were doing, then why did they charge us for it. Eggghhh!!!!

War does not determine who is right - only who is left.

The heroes during times of war, are nothing but mass murderers during times of peace.

I disagree about VR support as the market is not there yet and consoles will take longer to establish themselves due to proprietary hardware. Spending money on developing something that is not even releasd yet could be profitable but I don't think Zenimax has the money to spend on development and take that risk. Could they adapt ESO for VR support once a player base is established? Sure, but doing so too early just wastes money that could be used for other projects. Let's be honest, by 2016 ESO may be in very bad shape depending on how the remainder of this year goes.

They are a amazing company and are doing a amazing job so far sure few things here and there but what MMO doesn't have that.

They only reason I personaly think why there so much negativity to ZOS is "those players" who point out and yell about the tinest thing or yelling about the same thing over and over again for a entire year either though ZOS has addressed it via answer and is working on it and tried to explain what has to be done to fix it which takes time or hot fix so it's barable but in the end they still yell about it.
