Give Zenimax Online some credit

Havent you heard the saying "it takes a village to raise a child"

And yes in the sense of game companies Zenimax ONLINE is but a child playing with big boys toys.. and that in turn is what people dislike...

if you read my other posts im hardly defending them.. though knowing how many games they have handled gives me a personal idea at why they are lacking in customers eyes...

You are creating your own game... awesome.. is it on the triple A games level and have over 100,000 staff members company image lore and all sorts of legal tape to cut through...

Funny how all the sour mouth people came too this thread with bashing intentions towards what is clearly a new companies 1st attempt to step into a market they have said they would never attempt to do in the past...

The 1st time you done anything, lets say riding your bike or learning to ride your bike... where you profeaaional right aqay or did you have iasues bugs and problems..

That age old debate of practive makes perfect without miatakes how can you improve.

I have supported my case with as much lazy arse evidence as i can, and with those facts my view has slightly changed but all in all you think you can make a game that comes close to the standards zenimax ONLINE have gotten ESO too and the amount of people who are unhappy with the game but atill play lots of it..

1.0 WoW had leas trolls on its forums than here. With how many mmos have been produced and played over the years you would expect the trolls to have more understanding but as it seems its worse than when when it started..

Everyone has to start somewhere, and that is usually at an infant stage.. you know your born a child and grow into a teen then old age....

Facedesk at why i replied should of just remobed the topic but it was somewhat fun now its just people using any thread as a way to say too zenimax what they want etc...

Im actually surprised moat of you are allowed to post on the forums with aome of the posts.. im shocked i still have forum privilages...

So after my boring rant and too sum it up..

If you think you can do better and make better decisions then go out apply for a job with them or make your own game.. i personally think ESO will not have a long shelf life but with that said im sure its going to beat any game you put out. As new companies this one is taking baby steps into a world it knows nothing about and it is falling and hurting its self.. but it is learning.. so give them SOME credit.

If you go and read about zenimax this is the 1st game they have ever had... yes its a sub branch but it is a stand alone company as well..

Think of it this way.. dad gave baby his treasured posession and baby is doing his/her best, but not being educated enough doesnt mean we need to scream and shout.

Are you serious? I didn't pay for daddy's baby. I paid for a game. A GAME.

Are you seriously arguing that, because this is their first game, Zenimax is entitle to sell something to consumers that doesn't work as promised on the game webpage? A game that has bugs that need to be fixed. A game that could be better? That we should look at the product that we paid for and just sigh and say, "Well, it's not perfect but I'll give them E for effort."

I have a huge problem with this attitude. The sustained employment of this attitude encourages video game companies to continue to release buggy garbage. "We don't have to get it right," they say, even as they put a $50, $60 or $80 price tag on a game, "because people will buy the game even if it's broken."

This argument of "Oh, they did their best" fits right up with "All games are buggy so this one can be buggy, too."

I think Zenimax made a game that has a lot of good elements. It also has a number of lot of bugs and problems. These need to be fixed, because we PAID for the game. And some of us are subbed so we're still paying for the game.

Not being educated enough? If they didn't know what they were doing, then why did they charge us for it. Eggghhh!!!!

have you not noticed that back in the day DLC wasnt a thing you buy the game you get everything.. these days games are rushed bcus of many things one of the main reasons being customers want it now now now..

Games like neverwinter i played from day dot... it was so bugged and riddled with exploits... but if you look at their company amd their history they took baby steps to get to where they are today..

The witcher 3 if you know anything about that game it was rushed due too customers wanting it now.. and its not a complete game...

How games havw evolved customers pay for a released beta of most games.. and those who get closed beta are too busy trying to fins exploits and bugs to abuse once the game releases and not actually report or help make the game better (yes not everyone does it) it is funny how IC wasnt even out but is a major exploit floating around that everyone failed to tell zenimax about...

So yes... it takes a village to raise a baby.. abusing a child gets you nothing infact you teach it bad habbits.... as the community of eso bikkering over text chat and features that should of been put in but the business model might over missed that..

Ugh.. im not even gonna finish... you all need to take a business course or something.. it is all about money.. duh life isnt fair everyone is out to ruin you or take your money...

You ALL still brought the game and play it.. if you dont like it dont play.. i put the game down for a while bcus i didnt loke it.. and now im kicking myaelf for trying to be an active player who is trying to give credit when due...

Most my issues have been with handling of the game over all. Honestly, at times it felt like they found a bunch of people to make an MMO who had never played an MMO before.

I understand that they were stuck in a strange spot trying to make such an Iconic single player game an MMO, but you are making an MMO, so maybe try to learn some of the leasons other MMOs have taught us.

What we are shocked to learn that people get upset when they are locked out of phase in a quest chain and cant quest with a friend?? Didn't we learn some of this crap in WoW?

Oh good single person story quest you cant do with anyone else... fantastic, is this just an MO now?

And of course as others have mentioned VR levels. I don't mind being able to play all the factions on one character that would be really cool alone. But having to grind out meaningless levels as a way to pretend the game is far longer then it is? Really?

I love that you are defending a company that you are comparing to a baby.

Also, this analogy doesn't quite work, because the baby isn't trying to sell us anything.

    baby-money-1.jpg

So that baby is only holding $4300.00! Anyone else count that up? :D

    I counted $4700.00 lol

I thought ZoS had removed all the bugs, at least from Cyrodiil. I'll give them credit for that.

I think you have "bugs" and "grind spots" confused.
My wife complains that I never listen to her. (Or something like that.)

While there are many things that I can and do complain about, all in all they really have made a great game. They have accomplished something great here in ESO.

You have too understand that some features in games have been trade marked.. like FF:ARR UI has a copy law... lots of things in wow have the same... it is now left to companies to come up with a fresh idea..

I agree how they handled the game is shocking for any business and they should be ashamed... they are but learning.. and honestly most ppl put this into TES genre.. it isnt a genre at all its a games series...

Its most likely all about red tape... all the trolls and abuse that float around in game and forums is unacceptable and poor.. but they are improving.. give them some credit

I don't care. A professional is judged primarily on performance, not effort, althought effort is of course appreciated. I praised them for what they did right, but I'm not going to give them a pat on the head for what they did wrong - especially if it's something that's been industry standard for years and ZOS tried (and failed) to reinvent the wheel for some unfathomable reason. Through criticizm they will learn how to do better next time.

1] Not adding Text Chat as it would help players communicate for trading/Grouping and even role playing.

I don't know why people are so hellbent on this anyway. If you want it that badly play on PC otherwise find an alternative means such as a PSN chat with text only, an online chatroom of some sort, etc. The odds of this ever getting on consoles are pretty much nil unless Zenimax changes their mind, which I doubt.
2] The CP system is a system that will discourage any "new sales" of the game as no sane person will want to buy/join a MMO that they will never be able to play on a competitive level with the majority of the player base. The system will only continue to increase a gap between any new player that wants to join and the rest of the player base. MMO's survive only if the number of "New Players" is equal to or greater than the players that leave. This CP system willcinsure that not to many "New Players" are going to be joining the community!

Why do you people complain so much about the Champion System? Sure it has some good passives but it by no means breaks PvP just because "you can't catch up" especially considering those skills themselves have a limit. No matter how far apart you are from others you will eventually close the gap. You can't expect to just spend a few days in the game and be ready for the competitive PvP you metagamers and PvP obsessivists go for.
4] We were told the Vet Ranks are going to be removed and yet we are getting an increase to VR16 with very little information as to exactly "WHY" and also there is no new information as to when the VR system is to be removed. I mean what is the deal? Does anyone know what is going on?

Quite frankly they still have to figure out how to make that work. According to hearsay it will happen though but in the meantime they are raising the cap to grant more growth. From an Alchemy and Provisioning standpoint it is beneficial at least somewhat since Potions, Food, and Drinks maxed at VR10 before IC came.
5] Lack of communication from the DEVS directly to the players. Players should not have to /search for information regarding the future of the game! Players are left to hunt down tid bits of information on obscure websites and reddit post or some random live stream. When this information should be openly talked about and voiced to the players on the OFFICAL game forums/website.

Can you blame them? More than half, maybe even more than 3/4 of everything said here is people crying about the game's balance being broken which is not true. Every class has something the other doesn't and the reason people cry is because they can't figure out how to counter something so they call for a nerf or a buff. Honestly the true war going on in Cyrodiil is happening here with all these unreasonable demands...

Personally I have but one beef with Zenimax: They don't spend enough time fixing actual game issues. I hope they change this after IC hits consoles.
