Even Blacksmurf doesn't mind some type of text chat as long as it isn't on screen. It being part of the social menu isn't a bad idea. One last thing. How does anyone already doing all the game has to offer with no problems, this includes me, have any right to tell the people that can't, because of one reason or another, adapt to a system that never thought of you to begin with.

And some people don't understand that everything CAN be done in ESO with out text chat and actually done pretty easily.

Frankly I've tried more Guilds then I count. I've never in fact refused a guild invite, when not at 5. I have always looked over the roster and popped in Guild Chat at least a few times. I'm still looking for a guild. I've scoured the internet, looking for one, and done just about everything I can think of, including standing next to the Undaunted stating that I was looking for one. So I don't have a positive attitude because I have tried, and it's not working.

So you joined several guilds and still couldn't make it work. That sounds more like a you problem.

I joined a giant PvP guild and whenever I want to have that group experience I just go to guild chat channel 2 and begin following orders. Its a bunch of fun,

My personal guild is all purpose, and yes you are invited. Just friend me on psn, and I can help you.

Or just form your own guild and invite people you like. Boom, no need to complain.

I have to agree here. Cause a lot of this thread is starting to bring out what I suggested was the initial problem back in the March and April threads.

Ppl don't know how to use their consoles.

Ppl are here to offer suggestions and I'm with you....let's make the best out of the choice you've made and not be stubborn

Now my brain hurts. Seriously....y'all have given me a headache.

To be clear: voice chat is not 100% viable for me for various reasons (some within my control, others well outside of it). I am not you - what works for you may not work for me, and what works for me may not work for you.

I would like the option to use text chat, as it meets my requirements. ZOS may very well have said that text chat is not coming to console....but developers change their mind. If nobody says they want it, odds are pretty good that it won't be implemented. Unless it's some sort of mount skin.

As I've mentioned (probably numerous times), I come from DCUO. On a number of occasions, the Devs have made changes, reverted changes and altered plans based on forum feedback. Occasionally, that feedback is from a vocal minority. Occasionally the changes are good, occasionally bad.

Here's a prime example: People were screaming for a green aura. New threads asking for one appeared on a semi-regular basis. The official response was along the lines of "nope, never going to happen". That didn't stop people asking for it. And eventually, a green aura was released in-game. Despite the fact that it was never going to happen.

Right, now I need some panadol.

I don't want to make a new set of Toons on EP, but thanks for the offer. We cannot play cross Alliance yet, and as I understand it IC only lets it happen when using the group finder. Nevertheless this still that does account for PVP which is a major component of the upcoming expansion.

Before I answer your question, I'm going to correct your question. 'How on earth, are there people flourishing around me, and I'm stuck?' Pardon, I have trouble overlooking those manner of errors.

I get that you're trying to be helpful, and want to induce introspection, however why do you think that I haven't thought about this? I bluntly have, and often. My conclusion is - I am not reaching enough people. That is why I advocate for text chat.

    This isn't DCUO
Those debs don't work for ZOS
ZOS doesn't operate that way from what we've seen only extremely drastic thing have caused change that seems to take over 9-12 months.

The good news tho... I think you're in the wrong guilds. I'm not on PS4 so I can't offer help but a few others have made offers. Maybe Pm them on PS4 for advice or an invitation to peace.

You gotta place higher value on relationships and get away from looking for frequent interactions with ppl you have no relationship with. If a guild channel is chaotic and no leader is on keeping things clean and smooth the same will happen with text chat. Run away dude

If any guild you're in doesn't take time to get to know you and pull you into 4 mans or 12 mans to chat and meet n greet. It's not gonna work out well. Text chat or not

I get random invite in town. I always join, and always see what sort of guild it is. I'm looking for a progression guild, if that is not what they are I leave. Why should I stay in a guild, that is not offering/interested in what I want.

I don't want to run my own guild. I have had enough with that from previous games, and would rather join something established, that I don't have to organize and maintain.

I mentioned before, I dont speak quickly, so it frustrating for others to listen to. They dont have patience for it, and Im not blaming them. I can mail COD but that wasnt the question. Question was about how to find guild recruiters, and also how to advertise WTS and WTB in zone chat. Even if I try to talk (and just put up with not nice comments directed to me if I did) I can not address people who are more than a few feet away from me. It even becomes more difficult when trying to call for help at a dolmen or world boss with nobody else in sight anywhere.
To me these things are really not as easy to do, as others would like us to believe, but Im open to advice- so I ask how are they done?

For a point of reference the issues you described, those are resolutions.
The new concerns you raised won't be solved by text chat. You're on the wrong platform

Even if text chat is added according to what was shared and what exists, it will not be like PC so if you're expecting a zone wide text chat you may be in for a very long wait or a disappointment.

We are discussing some ideas for those like yourself who want text chat but the ideas are around what ZOS hasn't said no to. I've not seen or heard any interest in a zone wide anything on consoles.

no one has a resolution on this platform for that.
If you have one is suggest PC bud

You both have made voice only on console work for you, I applaud that. Now for some business economics, I'm a customer with disposable income towards gaming, one of their "prime segment" and I would venture a guess that most of the console players who are on the forums are your spenders section. Now following those assumptions, 80% of the segment that feels strongly enough about this one topic have been harping on this since the day the game released. That's the segment a b2p model targets, the spenders keep the lights on and the servers running.

Now back to the issue of text chat. No one in here has once tried to force the use of a traditional text chat on you, hide it, ignore it, whatever. I would like the option to have a traditional means of communication OUTSIDE of combat.

Now add into the mix how "well" the IC base update was received and understand that eso is at a crossroads. A lot of time and development went into the console version, however, if you make things to hard on a "young" game because it's only been out 3-4 months on consoles, there's a drastic chance that console will lose a lot of its player base on 2 weeks.

Destiny releases its big expansion the same day and the PC crowd has, based on the topics, hated the update. Now again, I digress but back to text. The lack of text has been a very prickly thorn in people's side but has been dealt with because the game is fun. This new update turned a lot of abilities, classes, and builds upside down... Put that together with the "labor intensive" means of grouping, communicating and trading, the door is open for a mass exodus.

Now tell me why adding text is a bad thing?

Frankly I've tried more Guilds then I count. I've never in fact refused a guild invite, when not at 5. I have always looked over the roster and popped in Guild Chat at least a few times. I'm still looking for a guild. I've scoured the internet, looking for one, and done just about everything I can think of, including standing next to the Undaunted stating that I was looking for one. So I don't have a positive attitude because I have tried, and it's not working.

    Ask yourselves this question.

"How on earth, is there people flourishing around me and I'm stuck?"

I don't really care about my grammar errors, go ahead and fix them. If it makes you feel better, do what you have to do.

I have played DCUO as well. I had some fun on there!

But on topic, I have a D.C toon and an A.D toon as well, so you're in luck. :)
Also, let's reach out more. Let's just keep trying, shall we?
Message me if you need some help in game.

What works for you may not work for me.

Honestly, I fail to see how options can be a bad thing.

My play-time and environment aren't conducive to voice chat, and I also find it difficult to focus on what's going on in a noisy environment where multiple people are trying to talk over one another. Is that a ZOS issue? Only if they want my money.

If ZOS don't want my money, that's on them....not me. I'll take it elsewhere and find something that does meet my requirements / needs / expectations.

But I have plenty of time....I know I can run leveling instances without voice (while I've only run a few, nobody ever said boo). I have plenty of leveling and crafting to do, maps to explore and quests to run.

Yet the same stuff is always talked about
"I can't do this" or "That's not how I want to play"
Yet, how about we talk about that there IS NO other option?

Do you think we all wanted this? I surely didn't , but hey, that's the game.
I'm just saying, there are ways to compromise FOR NOW to get stuff done, until there is a text chat option , and if there isn't, YAY you atleast figured out how to play an MMO with out it!
    :)

If any of you are on PS4 N/A, I'd love to do dungeons anytime, just message me on here.

And technically, if you have the game, ZOS already has your money ;)

Yeah that goes twice for me. I will always try to help you out

He's trying to help you. Don't be rude.

Everyone else is getting on and having fun in this game. There's barely anyone on this thread compared to everyone else who just moved on and played the game.

Not playing a game you already purchased because of an arbitrary lack of a feature you probably knew about smacks of madness.

There's ten guys here torturing the mods on this forum with rampant negativity aimed at a game, YOU ARENT EVEN PLAYING.

At least not while you are here spreading negativity about the game the rest of us love.

    Stop.
Play something else if this is such a serious issue to you. But that's just you. The ten guys here are not even a speck on zos radar.

If you unsub or whatever, that's still only one unsub.

There are tons of awesome people just like e, up here, making the game fun for new people every day.

I show new people the basics everyday. I can help keep a boat load of casuals in the game easily with a friendly joke and some chatter over voice chat. They will sub casually. Without real critical analysis of the service. You seem hardocre and more likely to demand more from a sub service . Why would zos even chase the difficult cash when there's so much low hanging fruit. For every hardcore player in PvP powning newbs, there will be ten more casuals willing to sub to catch up.

You know how afraid you are to speak in the rude or loud conversations by actual humans in voice chat?

Imagine how intimidated Joe plumber is going to be when he flicks on text chat and sees sprawling barbed arguments such as this one.
Do you think that guy is going to work up the nerve to be roasted by hardcore players without the confidence to actually speak their backhanded one liners.

    Why it's a bad thing....
Because your economics are missing one very important factor...the company's decisions.

Also those aren't economics...those are parts of an opinionated comment/half argument lacking any fiscal or resources and factual research and results from subject matter experts.

Edit: itsOK to have those opinions but fiscally speaking you're wrong. Fiscally ppl don't want text chat based on sales and based on subs or purchases of DLC and all the vid feeds for the games on Xbox.

Maybe PS4 differs but I see higher sales on ps4 than Xbox so...yeah

Let's say Forbes knows what they are talking about as far as sales

    http://www.forbes.com/sites/archenemy/2015/07/20/the-resounding-whimper-of-the-elder-scrolls-online-release/

600k on PC. Over a million on consoles. So let's say 500k split and that's also a fair amount of PC to console jumpers like me.

So I got the ps4 version today Im standing in davons watch I wanna go to riften and get a vampire bite. One small problem....I lost the mic that came with my ps4 and I dont have any other mics.... so I literally have no way to communicate Id use quick chat but theres nothing in there that has a chat input how am I supposed to ask for help without a mic? I already posted on the forums to see if anyone would be willing to help but no replies.

This is a problem for an MMO with no text chat :/

Lol the PS 4 controller is comparable with cell phone in line headet mics.

You can grab a pair of stereo ear buds with an inline mic for like 5 bucks.

That's what I use. I find even expensive mics get a short right at the controller. So I buy these and toss em when they go bad.

Use the mic. Also player voice is a setting in your options if you need to back voice chat down a few decibles,

Yup, if you get spammed into a guild chances are yourjust in bad guilds.

I'm in ps4 if you need a solid jumping off point. Na ebonheart pact. All easy going players are welcome.

The only people that hawk goods in voice chat are the people who lack the social skills to join a guild large enough to have a guild store, IMO. Why waste game time when you could just post the items and move on?

83% of the voters in this poll want text chat made available, 17% say not,

In anyone's book, that's an overwhelming majority.

So the question should be not if, but when will this be implemented.
