Some people seem to be completely missing the point for the need of some form of in game text chat. It's not a matter of being able to adapt. It's a matter of not being able to adapt. Are you going to keep spouting the same nonsense to the hearing impaired, introverts, and the women I've heard being harassed and degraded and no longer want to talk or have left the game completely because a fair share of people playing the game have degraded to adolescent behavior since there are no mods in VC.
Even Blacksmurf doesn't mind some type of text chat as long as it isn't on screen. It being part of the social menu isn't a bad idea. One last thing. How does anyone already doing all the game has to offer with no problems, this includes me, have any right to tell the people that can't, because of one reason or another, adapt to a system that never thought of you to begin with.
And some people don't understand that everything CAN be done in ESO with out text chat and actually done pretty easily.
How do you go from can become hectic, sure in one comment to pretty easily in the other? Also why do you assume that everyone's expeirence is going to mirror your own?
Frankly I've tried more Guilds then I count. I've never in fact refused a guild invite, when not at 5. I have always looked over the roster and popped in Guild Chat at least a few times. I'm still looking for a guild. I've scoured the internet, looking for one, and done just about everything I can think of, including standing next to the Undaunted stating that I was looking for one. So I don't have a positive attitude because I have tried, and it's not working.

Yeah I don't understand it in here.
The amount of stubborness in some of you is ridiculous.
We're offering advice and for some reason I'M okay, but you're not.
/facepalm
If you're not understanding how to do something, just ask! But don't give me this crap that you've tried it all, because you're lying to yourself and only hurting you in game.

Now my brain hurts. Seriously....y'all have given me a headache.
To be clear: voice chat is not 100% viable for me for various reasons (some within my control, others well outside of it). I am not you - what works for you may not work for me, and what works for me may not work for you.
I would like the option to use text chat, as it meets my requirements. ZOS may very well have said that text chat is not coming to console....but developers change their mind. If nobody says they want it, odds are pretty good that it won't be implemented. Unless it's some sort of mount skin.
As I've mentioned (probably numerous times), I come from DCUO. On a number of occasions, the Devs have made changes, reverted changes and altered plans based on forum feedback. Occasionally, that feedback is from a vocal minority. Occasionally the changes are good, occasionally bad.
Here's a prime example: People were screaming for a green aura. New threads asking for one appeared on a semi-regular basis. The official response was along the lines of "nope, never going to happen". That didn't stop people asking for it. And eventually, a green aura was released in-game. I don't want to make a new set of Toons on EP, but thanks for the offer. We cannot play cross Alliance yet, and as I understand it IC only lets it happen when using the group finder. Nevertheless this still that does account for PVP which is a major component of the upcoming expansion.
Before I answer your question, I'm going to correct your question. 'How on earth, are there people flourishing around me, and I'm stuck?' Pardon, I have trouble overlooking those manner of errors.
I get that you're trying to be helpful, and want to induce introspection, however why do you think that I haven't thought about this? I bluntly have, and often. My conclusion is - I am not reaching enough people. That is why I advocate for text chat.

You also can send ppl messages on your console so if you wNt text chat it would seem you have a way to type already. Send ppl msgs cause even tho you're not talking they appear in recent voice chat. Go there and msg them.

So you joined several guilds and still couldn't make it work. That sounds more like a you problem.
I joined a giant PvP guild and whenever I want to have that group experience I just go to guild chat channel 2 and begin following orders. Its a bunch of fun,
My personal guild is all purpose, and yes you are invited. Just friend me on psn, and I can help you.
Or just form your own guild and invite people you like. Boom, no need to complain.

Honestly, I fail to see how options can be a bad thing.
My play-time and environment aren't conducive to voice chat, and I also find it difficult to focus on what's going on in a noisy environment where multiple people are trying to talk over one another. Is that a ZOS issue? Only if they want my money.
If ZOS don't want my money, that's on them....not me. I'll take it elsewhere and find something that does meet my requirements / needs / expectations.
But I have plenty of time....I know I can run leveling instances without voice (while I've only run a few, nobody ever said boo). I have plenty of leveling and crafting to do, maps to explore and quests to run.
Yet the same stuff is always talked about
"I can't do this" or "That's not how I want to play"
Yet, how about we talk about that there IS NO other option?
Do you think we all wanted this? I surely didn't , but hey, that's the game.
I'm just saying, there are ways to compromise FOR NOW to get stuff done, until there is a text chat option , and if there isn't, YAY you atleast figured out how to play an MMO with out it!
If any of you are on PS4 N/A, I'd love to do dungeons anytime, just message me on here.
And technically, if you have the game, ZOS already has your money

I'll end with this (then hopefully I won't be back typing in this regardless of the outcome),
@NewBlacksmurf @Eshelmen
You both have made voice only on console work for you, I applaud that. Now for some business economics, I'm a customer with disposable income towards gaming, one of their "prime segment" and I would venture a guess that most of the console players who are on the forums are your spenders section. Now following those assumptions, 80% of the segment that feels strongly enough about this one topic have been harping on this since the day the game released. That's the segment a b2p model targets, the spenders keep the lights on and the servers running.
Now back to the issue of text chat. No one in here has once tried to force the use of a traditional text chat on you, hide it, ignore it, whatever. I would like the option to have a traditional means of communication OUTSIDE of combat.
Now add into the mix how "well" the IC base update was received and understand that eso is at a crossroads. A lot of time and development went into the console version, however, if you make things to hard on a "young" game because it's only been out 3-4 months on consoles, there's a drastic chance that console will lose a lot of its player base on 2 weeks.
Destiny releases its big expansion the same day and the PC crowd has, based on the topics, hated the update. Now again, I digress but back to text. The lack of text has been a very prickly thorn in people's side but has been dealt with because the game is fun. This new update turned a lot of abilities, classes, and builds upside down... Put that together with the "labor intensive" means of grouping, communicating and trading, the door is open for a mass exodus.
Now tell me why adding text is a bad thing?

Those debs don't work for ZOS
ZOS doesn't operate that way from what we've seen only extremely drastic thing have caused change that seems to take over 9-12 months.
The good news tho... I think you're in the wrong guilds. I'm not on PS4 so I can't offer help but a few others have made offers. Maybe Pm them on PS4 for advice or an invitation to peace.
You gotta place higher value on relationships and get away from looking for frequent interactions with ppl you have no relationship with. If a guild channel is chaotic and no leader is on keeping things clean and smooth the same will happen with text chat. Run away dude
If any guild you're in doesn't take time to get to know you and pull you into 4 mans or 12 mans to chat and meet n greet. It's not gonna work out well. Text chat or not

It is sometimes fun to haggle, tho. Or intervene on a deal with a counter offer.
