I really don't see the merit nor the reason for this stance. This has nothing to do with being a fanboy (as apparent from most of my comments), I seriously do not understand your motivation for those posts, @MrBeatDown.
Of course any extension to the game will cost money. Same as it did since the very beginning. Of course any extension will bring new and stronger equipment, be it in the form of new sets or in the form of a stronger version of the old sets. Same as from the very beginning.
Same as in any continuously progressing online game.
With each extension of the game that they add V levels too, it also affects the effectiveness of the crafted gear. We can now craft all gear to V16 with the mats. The V16 crafted gear has now taken a back seat to the New IC gear which is also V16 and has turned the Crafted gear into support gear. Nothing crafted can compete with the new IC gear. IC Gear is now the UNIVERSAL STANDARD for this game You now have to Buy IC to min/max your character, which is stuck behind a paywall, FORCING other people to buy the IC and play in a manor that "Some" wish not to engage in in order to aquire the gear they need to maximize their characters. Im sorry you cannot grasp that concept. Not everybody is you. But as a company, they have decided to alienate their old customers, which is a mistake. You now have people sitting on the sidelines waiting to see what kind of damage that the next expansion is going to bring to this game. That is a waste of money. These folks have drastically changed this game to serve the pay to play model or be a gimp character. So if IC is not your cup of tea, you are now forced to drink it or be weak. You also have some people that are "probably" going to buy Orsinium and the other expansions after that, if they can handle the roller coaster ride zos is putting us on to play this game. Gimping crafted sets was the wrong answer.
I have plenty of money to blow on a video game and if its something I find entertaining, I might spend in on that game for the purpose of entertainment. I currently do not find ESO entertaining at the moment, and they have a lot of work to do to fix this game and its broken core, and the server.
Thanks.
I believe they rebalanced the game.
I believe they increased armor rating on light armor by 100%. Don't know about the other two.
Werewolves get spell resistance.
Werewolves and Vampires had their weaknesses cut to 25%..
They modified the health and attacks of some enemies.
Racials got improved for certain races.
they changed the buffs on some Mundus stones.
Warrior gives more weapon damage
Apprentice gives you spell damage now. No more spell pen.
Steed gives health recovery
Serpent gives stam regen
Ritual got buffed
Actually I've never seen an MMO that made old gear weaker with an expansion. Put out new, stronger gear with an expansion? Sure. But nerf old gear? That's a pure cash grab. And it's a kick in the teeth to console players that just got the game a few months ago and have worked to get their gear up to legendary and find a build that works for them.
MrBeatDown wrote: »How exactly is it a paywall? If you have ever played an mmo, you will know that big DLC's come with new gear and you don't get that for free. Would you, for example, ask for a WoW expansion for free? Either sub up and get the content or buy the new area like you have to with every major DLC for any game ever.
As for nerfs . . . You're surprised they made old gear weaker? Saw that coming. Sadly that's how they make new gear seem better a lot of the time, by making older gear redundant.
I wasn't the fool that dumped money on this DLC content because I have a brain. I didn't like the mechanics or the fail to fix the server lag for pvp. When people get excited about something because its new and they decide to blow money and SUPPORT a change without thinking about it, it really shows how ignorant they are. This is the same type of stunt blizzard entertainment did with Diablo 3, They Boasts about the 30 million plus sales, while about 30k people still play the game, and the company calls it a win. If you ever read there forums, you would see thousands of unhappy players that got sucked into those pay wall games and how UNHAPPY they are about it. I speak with my wallet... Im not a fool with my money. Thanks, and stay small with low aspirations for games like this and these tactics for generating sales. Make a good clean game with a better server performance and stop making the combat so boring and I might pay money for it.

These guys have not updated it yet. But the did add the IC Sets. So it might change soon.

I think that they are reducing the bonuses for item sets that have less research trait requirements. So an 8 trait item set is more powerful than a 4 trait item set.
Look this is an image from this Elderscrolls online wiki for vr14 new IC crafted gear it has the same stats as the old crafted gear you posted so this proves that the new armor isn't better it is equal in stats in the 2-4 bonuses. I am sorry but the OP doesn't know what he is talking about, I think he is just holding a grudge but still plays the game and is bitter because he likes the game but feels he go screwed, his prerogative keep on being mad.
But There is NO PAYWALL and they DID NOT NERF gear they BALANCED IT!
Like I said in a previous post this is just to bring armor inline with all the class changes they did in 1.6 but didn't have the time to deal with armor balances but they did this time. If you agree with OP do some research and you might see they are working to make this game better balanced which is a very tricky thing to do.
plus what @BullNetch states in his post all plays into game balance. LA armor got a 100% increase to its armor rating which was way needed, WW needed some loves cause no one likes them, ok a few people do (myself included) and many other well needed changes.I believe they rebalanced the game.

Show me some screenshots of the new VR15 stuff with the old stats up, and then maybe we can talk about getting screwed, but at least the IC crafted sets are running on those same modifiers.
