So from what I read you only buy the DLC if you want to PVP; correct? (cause in getting to the PVE parts you need toPVP.)

Saying that there is both PVE and PVP content seems misleading if PVE content REQUIRES (in actuality) PVPing.

    Certainly doesn't look like it.

The whole release strategy that Zenimax is using doesn't make any sense to me, why release big new content expansions and then cut off large swaths of your player base from it? Craglorn is pretty much group only (sorry solo PvE players) and it appears that Imperial City is PvP with a dash of group only PvE thrown in (sorry again solo PvE players).

Blizzard seems to manage to throw in something for everybody in their World of Warcraft expansions (heck they even have LFG and LFR tools that allow solo PvE'rs to enjoy group content whenever they please), why can't Zenimax do the same? after all Tamriel is certainly big enough for all types of players to be able to enjoy new content without having to significantly alter their preferred mode of play.

If you're going to play the game. It's worth it. You know how people grind and fight over grinding spots? Never mind the TV stones. There are mobs everywhere. That's exp, that's champion points, that's gold and players can't take any of those from you. You'll learn a pattern to bank you TV stones. My wife who is so noob and scared when she PvP's banked 3k stones in a few hours. She dies when we fight players. She just shrugs it off and trys to learn, but the point is she sucks. She knows it. She's getting better. Yet she banked 3k TV stones in a few hours... As a solo player you will be around your faction a lot and you will help and get help.

So, you TV, CPS, EXP, and there are an abundance of mobs and even dungeons.

So my opinion is. If you're going to play ESO. You should play in IC.

You're wrong. It's way different than Cyrodiil. Where you enter from a ladder or resurrect you will be among your alliance and the districts have a natural way of making your alliance stick together. It's nothing like soloing in Cyrodiil.

And for us PVE'ers it's kinda sad that such an iconic part of Elder Scrolls lore will be contained within a PVP wall. Sure, I will try the new dungeons, but I really wanted to roam the streets of the IC again. I wouldn't mind fighting open world monsters in the streets, but I just have no desire to get ganked for my stones every five minutes.

Everything Imperial is either behind a paywall or PvP wall. It may as well not exist at all to some players.

Umm.. you know you cant "port" anywhere in Cyrodiil, including inside IC? You can "death port" giving any enemy player who hit you with a light attack since you last died 80% of your Tel Var stones when you die. Or, you can fight your way to a sewer entrance in the district and click down, like a Outlaws Refuge. If you get some AP, you can buy a stone that will channeled port you to your factions area without traveling. If you are in the sewers,, well.. expect to run back the way and distance, you came without the stone.

As I have said a number of times already in this thread, the only PVE areas in IC are the raids.

There will be two Delves White Gold Tower and Imperial City Prison for pve play. Solo in those delves is questionable. In the long run Imperial City is mainly for the pvp player. I too like solo play. Hopefully ZOS will eventually incorporate new solo adventure zones with new quests and places of interest to find.

My other concern is the new crafting mats for V15 and 16 gear. I hope they can be found in the pve delves since I do not pvp. Otherwise guess I will be spending a lot of gold to by the materials.

Thank you for the reply I didn't get those impressions reading the PTS patch notes hopefully it will seem more clear to me when I can read the actual patch notes. I am far away from needing to venture into IC anyways unless my Level 35 has a severe death wish LOL. The current crafted sets that are in game not the new ones that can only be crafted from IC do you know if you'll be able to craft them up to V16 rank or will they only be able to still craft to v14

PVEers will either have to PVP, pay PVPers for the mats/gear, or do Undaunted dungeons scaled to VR15/16 to get gear to decon for mats. Otherwise, PVEers are waiting on Orsinium.

And, again.. those are not DELVES with open world access. They are FOUR man daily pledge dungeons, not designed to be soloed.

Oh, btw, you did read that the VR15 gear will cost like 10 mats per piece, but VR16 will cost 100ish?

Personally I was looking forward to this DLC release because I was under the impression there would be a myriad of new things to do with my crafting, enchanting, and alchemy skills should I choose not to buy it because I am not a big PVP player. However restricting these activities to only those who have the IC DLC feels like a slap in the face.

Unless I am reading these notes wrong essentially the only thing that's been changed for me is my Sorcerer cant travel as efficiently as before in PVE, my werewolves now require me to either ditch the flawless dawnbreaker ults I worked to get or forget about the stamina regen, and unless I wanna dig deep and empty my pockets of all my gold.. I will be unable to craft v10+ potions, unable to make v15-16 glyphs, unable to craft the new sets which are located within IC, unable to decon v15-16 gear for the new materials, unable to upgrade my own equipment past v14 through my crafting, and most likely unable to obtain the new motifs because no DLC. (Unsure on glass motifs because further clarification is needed to determine whether the writs that rewards these fragments require the new v15-16 materials or not.)

What it ultimately feels like to me is I now have to shell out $25 for advantages, or spend my time paying for it endlessly in game.

There seems to be some confusion. The Imperial City has both PvP and PvE elements in it. For those who want to PvP there is a lot of opportunity but also for those who want to PvE there is also a lot of opportunity. I've been noticing that a lot of people on these forums have been mistaking the DLC as PvP exclusive. I think that players need to embrace both PvP and PvE elements in the Imperial City DLC. Some people are concerned that PvE will not be a major feature of the Imperial City however this does not seem to be true if you read the patch notes a little more carefully. There will be plenty of materials that can be gained for crafting and getting your v 15 and v 16 gear and it should be pretty easy to just get to the PvE zones and have access to the PvE content without having to go through too many PvP elements. So if PvE players are concerned that they will have to do a lot of PvP in order to get to PvE I don't think that is going to be the case. In the patch notes it indicated that once you have gone into the Imperial City you will be able to get to the PvE dungeons and the PvE zones. I have not played on the PTS and have not experienced the Imperial City yet. I have been waiting patiently so I can experience the Imperial City and have some surprises in store for myself. I appreciate the people who tested Imperial City on the PTS and thank them for their support of the content.

The Imperial City , in my humble opinion, will quickly become the realm of the top PvP players. The ones with all the Champion Points, and Vr 16 gear.

They will make it so annoying to any lower level PvP players that the lower levels will stay out in Cryodiil un till they level up.

PvE players..... As this is gear'd towards the PvP element, I'm guessing you will only be " collecting " the new crafting mats at you local Guild store kiosk.

everything you mentioned that you "can not" get can be bought for gold from players who do own the DLC. If you expected to have access to aquirring all said materials on your own with out purchasing the DLC you are pretty much asking for the new content for free. VR10 water will be found in craglorn which I am pretty sure you have access to, vr16 water is exclusively found in IC but again, it can be bought from other players. So dont want the DLC because you dislike pvp, fine, dont buy, farm gold and buy it from players who DO want to play the new content.

    <sarcasm>

What? PvE only players don't have that luxury? And people are unhappy about fundamentally having to change their playstyle and grind for gold if they want access to any of these things? Even as a subscriber?

I can't imagine why anyone would be unhappy about that, it seems like a perfectly equitable situation to me.

Nothing I've read has given IC a "PvE" thumbs-up. It's no different than Cyrodiil, which also has PvE in it.

Thing is, I don't want to go around exploring an area having to keep eyes in the back of my head to prevent from getting ganked.

That's not a fun play style for me, so no thanks to the PvP elements.

I'll wait for the next DLC, which I hear is catering to the PvE crowd.

Yeah lots of objectives are near enemy spawn points and enemies gank quest areas anyways, so no way to do the Main Quest line without lots of patience, even with a group. Or be EP and go on NA Chillrend, they have the whole server practically to themselves, pop-locked vs 1 bar AD and DC. Must be nice.
