Anyone here remember runescape?

I remember after playing as a member for a month i went to lumbridge in a non member server which my spartan helm, cloak and spear.

Was funny seeing all the noobs be like WoW,OmG such lootz and following me for 20 mins...

Hopefully this thread wont get closed for advertising a different game. I think it's sad when a good conversation gets going and they come along and close it because it is about a different game.

Yeah I hear ya man hopefully they keep it going. We're not really advertising, it's more remeniscing. Runescape has come and gone for most of us and it's fun to look back sometimes. Besides, I wouldn't be playing eso today if it wasn't for runescape, that's the first MMO I ever played and I loved it back then

Oh for the love of Zamorak... ;-)

I used to love dressing up and changing clothing/appearances in RS, I think if ESO can pick anything (large enough for a project) it would be the Minigames.

Castle Wars... Fist of Guthix... Barbarian Assault...

I think there are a lot of things that Zenimax can take (not literally!) from RuneScape.

I have to be honest, there are 2 main features in RS that make the game feel homely (and that's not just P.O.H!); character's emotions/avatars in conversations used to make me chuckle and engage me. Along with holiday events (yearly unique items).

As much as I love Elder Scrolls, RuneScape focuses not only on the combat (which I prefer ES anyway) but actually your character outside of combat.

I'm not the type of person to regret mistakes since I learn from them, but I do kinda regret the time I traded 100mill RS gp for 20k WoW gold as well as my friend doing a similar deal with the same guy, who ended up trading him a santa hat for 20k+ WoW gold too, only to get scammed.... so I felt terrible and gave him 10k. 10k WoW gold is absolutely nothing these days.

Oh well! just a game, plus it made me quit for good anyway.

That's one of my biggest gripes with this game...honestly every town in eso feels empty and so do the people in it. Runescape had legitimate commerce going on in all the major cities people made businesses on the forums and PvP and questing weren't as much of the game as eso is.....I remember having to type in colors to be seen over everyone else every time I wanted to sell something in falador lol

Agreed my friend...I remember the random treasure trails keeping me busy.

Played since beta till release of 3D and then DAoC mixed with Pro-level CS1.6 in EU till ESO

Good wilderness times.. and before that was released the game had PvP servers if i recall correctly - everything was open world pvp.

What was your first character names on RS? mine was chezz9921891 or something stupid, then I got perma banned eventually for swearing, etc (I was like 11) and then made Pk2nd_acount (spelled account wrong by accident) because I wanted a "PK" name even though I never really did PKing and was terrible, and barely ever risked anything lol

Haha mine was aquawarrier3, had a few buddies like firewarrier3 and earthwarrier3 we made the accounts together...not a typo man we rly spelt warrier wrong haha....never made another account tho maxed out at level 74 had a bunch of good memories and things I accomplished and then one day honestly I just put the game down and never went back would be funny to see it nowadays

I used to play it back when it was 2d for ages, then after a while it went 3d and it got a bit weird but I still played it sometimes.

I was really crap at it though on account of me being quite young and not having played any online game before that, I sucked a lot. But I had fun.

I also enjoyed RS, both the old and new versions. Like @Lightninvash said, all the non combat activities you could do in that game still to this day set it apart from every other mmo that I'm aware of.

I first played Runescape back when it had world PvP. It also had few magic spells that went as high as Level 13 magic and there was no Fishing or Prayers. There was also no Rune at all at the time and no level requirement for equipment either. Good times...
