its pretty dam annoying when someone asks a good question and to see someone form zos on the post only to find it be a /lurk
i say if zos doesnt have anything meaningful to say in a post they should just stay out of the post.

I feel you are missing the whole point.

    1) If someone from ZOS ever entered an opinion on a thread, that thread would get A LOT of attention and that Devs time would be taken up considerably trying to argue/justify the reasons behind the thinking.

    2) /lurk by a particular person means it is something they are looking at and potentially adjusting, so are aware of the communities views on it.

Not ideal, but works :) .... and is certainly better than no response at all.

    I like the /lurk.

It lets us know that the issue or idea has been noticed and is being considered.

At least I know they are reading the forums and seeing the ideas we throw around and opinions on certain upcoming changes, I would like them to interject a bit more, but I will have to settle for /lurk, here's looking at you :)

    I also like the /lurk.

A full blown response and conversation can often take a long time and I think most of us would like devs to be working on the game as opposed to having a detailed pro/con session with every person who has an idea on the forum (which is everyone).

/lurk lets us know they are aware and are at least considering the ideas put forth in the thread.

+1 this. Just the knowledge that they're on the forums and listening is reassuring IMO; it lets us know they're paying attention.

In text chat, you do an emote by /dance, /juggleflame, etc. So he is performing an action.

And don't dis Lambert the Lurker. At least he reads and if your thread gets a /lurk, he's interested in what's being said there.

It just shows they are listening to the idea and our reactions to it. In other words voice your opinion when you see that if you want it to be heard.

This is what I think of every time I see a /lurk:

    30cKGFa.jpg

Maybe I'm just too cynical, but I feel like the /lurk is just a way to quickly placate the masses without having to address controversial topics in a substantial way.

The devs and admins have always been lurking, and following the topics and conversations that align with internal discussion and decision points. This is true of every product in every tech sector.

Rich has chosen to unmask himself, and be transparent about the topics he is watching. I think this is a good thing, and would be disappointed if complaints about it drive him back into silent lurk mode.

I'm not for it, because it just fuels speculation.
If you want a transparent approach, use a transparent approach.
If you want to use the carrot and string approach, use that instead.
Lurk is just a carrot and string disguised as transparency. It doesn't say anything but is somehow interpreted as something.

I agree, it's a lazy way of actually not dealing with any issues.

I've not seen anything come of any of the posts that have the Lurk, although saying that I've not actually seen anything come of actual Developer Post threads.

Since launch ZOS has had awful involvement in the forum.

We are looking into this is a better response, even a, this is low in priorities currently is better than /Lurk.

Although it's still better than SOON

Good thing it's not up to us to vote on then.

If you watched the last Live show it's part of his morning routine to read the forums and see what's going on. Pretty sure he doesn't have time to play pattycake with every complainer and "nerf this" poster on here. This is a quick way to show there's something interesting in a thread and to keep up the conversation. It's already getting us some progress on the LFG tool and possibly the UI, this makes me happy.
It's a damn sight more than the big, fat 0 we got from Paul Sage. It's also better to encourage Any communication we get than it is to be negative and discourage progress, no matter how small.

    Put me on #TeamBetterThanNothingAtAll

Something I took from live the other week, when Ash-hole/Art guy was talking (forgive me, I really am terrible with names) is that he said he is working on development 2 years down the road and had to really reach to remember some details about Imperial City work. Now you can be a (insert any forum bad word here) about it and say *** IC was ready @ pc launch and QQ about it...

or maybe you can bear that in mind when thinking about fixes/changes to current content, the devs are working 2 years down the road from the game's current state. It's not like they are sitting around waiting for complaints to fix :D

(not excusing day 1 bugs still in game)
If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

I keep seeing it on posts where someone took the time to write something thorough, detailed, and new, which gives me hope that they're actually looking for intelligent design solutions to player problems/suggestions instead of caving to the "x is dumb pls remove" posts. Not that such posts shouldn't be made or those players' voices shouldn't be heard, but high-level designers and coders aren't going to be looking in that direction for elegant solutions to complex problems.
