I see a lot of people talking about using macros to gain an edge in PVP. I was wondering what everyone thought about this. I don't want to do it, tbh I consider it blatant cheating ... But I don't want to disadvantage myself by not using them if they have become an accepted evil of the game. So the question I have is what is Zos's stance on the use of macros? A cheat or fair play? What do you guys think?

today i was killed several times by 1 hit, then when i look at the death list of damage it clearly shows i was attacked by alot of hits that i never saw. i only saw 1 hit.
to me thats clearly cheating. its wrong but so is the cheating addons they allow and soo many other cheats and tricks and exploits used constantly. today and right now eso is allowing it but there are consequences.
dwemer_paleologist wrote: »yeah i thought some one would try to say that, and its completely false, i know for a fact none of the things you mentioned were involved, i wasnt looking for an answer because i wasnt asking a question.
i was simply agreeing that infact macros are being used and i am a witness that people are doing it among other cheats on a daily basis.

People are killing people because they are better geared, more skilled than their targets. It has nothing to do with macros. Ever since the major influx of new players people have been crying about this or that alleged boogeyman. Stuff like this is getting out of control. I can burst someone down, particularly a new player in 2-3 seconds. I don't use macros. I am just geared properly and know how to play.
What you've seen is people who do not understand the game, in this case priority system openly accusing others (boogeyman) of using macros. They say thing like, "Some macro user hit me 4 times in under a second", not understanding things like travel time, first contact, and procs. Not understanding that a macro will not allow anyone to do anything faster because of the priority system.I see a lot of people talking about using macros to gain an edge in PVP. Um... Not crying or whining here, pal.. You quoted me, but you don't seem to have read what quoted. I was simply asking a question, not trying to get anything nerfed. Honestly... Sounds an awful lot like you're trying to defend something you claim you don't use. Don't be such an...overreacting dude.
From what I have seen of people openly discussing the use of macros I simply wondered how others in the community looked upon them considering that so many admit using them. Glad to see so many share my low opinion of them, and I don't think I will be using them. But sadly, from what I can tell, this is one of those "Its only illegal if you get caught" type things.

What you don't see is I use "this" macro or "you should try this macro." This ain't WoW where macros are needed to do things like break roots and sacrifice. ESO just doesn't work that way.
People tend to take the path of least resistance. And cheating in online games in general is really widespread.
When Joe Average sees that instead of mastering the timing of landing wrecking blow, surprise attack, light attack and soul harvest at exactly the same time, he can just program a macro to do it for him at the push of a button regardless of how distracted he might be in the hectic PvP combat, why would he not do it?
If you see, out of all the nightblades you face every day, one that seems to get the sequence right with robotic perfection, every single time he attacks you, no matter what circumstances or how pressured he is, chances are, you just met Joe Average.
Yes, there is a possibility that guy was just exceptionally good. But when you see more 'exceptionally good' guys that you never heard of before popping up like mushrooms every day? See first sentence.

And he has 1000 cps too! Come on. That's ridiculous to say. On top of that the sequence you used isn't even remotely optimal. There's not even an animation cancel/weave in there. Forgive me but you are making my point about a lack of understanding.
People with macros are cheaters.
People with many better keyboards are cheaters.
People with more Champion Points are cheaters.
People with better gear are cheaters.
People that use food/drinks are cheaters.
People with more skill than me are cheaters.
And after all that the community is unhappy about the damage nerf in Cyrodil? You were literally asking for it

Forget it I give up. Like you said people follow the path of least resistance. That path is the path of pointing at the mythical killer macro and the legendary 1000 cps as the reason they lost. It's too easy. Way easier than finding understandin and practicing your craft to get better. I'm trying to help...
Unfortunately for me, I am so used to seeing these subtle and "humorous" digs at anyone who asks a question about the status quo in pvp that I couldn't even manage a chuckle this time. How witty and thoroughly appropriate. Oh wait... Neither of those things actually. Apparently even asking about the legitimacy of some things is considered having a whine these days.
How wonderful that we gamers are such an open minded, collaborative, and mature group of people. Makes me feel all warm inside... Though that could just be the scotch I had a little while ago.
