I love that ZoS is forcing world pvp. World pvp is one of the things that made Vanilla WoW great. The world felt alive and dangerous. It was an adventure game that was actually adventurous. ZoS seems to understand that.
Cyrodiil provides that large scale epicness. Imperial City provides smaller scale skirmishes... with actual consequences. Yes, losing your Tel Var stones is harsh... but that harshness is exactly what makes it tense and exciting. I can't think of many other MMO developers with the balls to to try something like this.
There are things to fix, believe me I know. I'm a god damn Khajit Stamina Sorcerer and I only have 75 CP... and I play on PC. There are things to fix and hopefully those are fixed quickly. But... Imperial City is rad.

Disagree. Forced pvp is worst pvp ever. Even mixed PVP-PVE is bad. PVP should be completely separate from PVE.

- Watch your back in a PvP zone.
If you're not paying attention that doesn't make me evil. It makes you dumb for not paying attention.
These things are the reality of a PvP zone. If you don't like it don't go there, expecting reality to change is not a sane thing to do.

Correction!!! its not PvP zone, its mixed PVE/PVP zone!

Still a PvP zone.
The fact that some PvE is thrown in doesn't magically make it -not- a PvP zone.

Like talking to a wall.
You cant ignore the PvE part and magically make it -only- PvP zone.
Its not non-PVP zone, but its also not PVP zone. It is mixed PVP/PVE zone. Thus any argument that starts with "but its PVP zone" is invalid.

Ill say it again. You need to move to GW2 where they seperate PVP and PVE BECAUSE thats the game you want. Just about every MMO sperates PVP and PVE.
They were very clear from the beginning that ESO was a mixed PVP and PVE game. . And system we have been asking for because Darkage of Camelot did it long ago and we have been wanting another game to do it.
Its almost like you went to a football game and are mad because you wanted to play basketball.

... I don't get why it has to be all or nothing. It's not difficult to give players the option of playing pvp or pve separately, and it's not like it somehow affects the game in some critical game breaking way. Also this type of argument never takes into account the idea that for pve you don't actually need to get anything in pvp, where as pvp demands that you aquire anything that gives you a competitive edge.
While Cyrodiil has always had some PvE/progression content in it (skyshards, lorebooks, quests, delves etc.) IC goes a lot further in that the only v15/v16 content outside dungeons will now be in a PvP zone. For those who are primarily PvE players, this means that rapid progression will force them to take part in an aspect of the game they do not want to take part in. I can't see how that benefits PvE players, or how it improves PvP beyond adding a population of disinterested cannon fodder to the zone. From a purely personal perspective, I play some, but only a little PvP, but do want to maintain PvE progression, so will probably end up in more PvP than I would choose or will enjoy.
I think it is not far different from parts of Craglorn which force group play (for most players at lower CP levels - I am sure there are those who can solo) rather than allowing choice. A lot of the attraction of ESO for me (again, a purely personal perspective) in the early stages (pre-Craglorn) was that I could choose to play whatever combination of solo play/group play or PvP I wanted. I think it is great that there is a big new content update and great that there is a new area which mixes PvP and PvE. If it weren't the only v15/v16 zone I would happily pop in occasionally to PvP and explore. My concern is that, frankly, not enjoying large amounts of time playing PvP will be a barrier to PvE progression for people who prefer PvE.

It won't be the only 15/16 area for long.

Why, oh why PVPers who are so for "just killing players" want to have PVE content mixed into PVP zones (and then curse "carebears" for ruining their experience)?
It seems that the true challenge they seek is to kill people who strolled in that PVE-PVP mixed area because they were forced to do it by forced PVE/PVP mix (to get skyshards, to get achievments, to do PVE dungeons). And apparently this is the great challenge that PVPers strive for:
- killing someone away from fight zone, who was absolutely not intrested in fight
- killing someone who is afking away
- killing someone who is occupied picking chest, harvesting node, talking to NPC or minding their own buissnes and killing PVE mobs
such honor of PVPers and their "need for challenge" killing harmless people not interested in fighting, thats the reason to advocate for squeezing PVP in every place possible to keep the inflow of "fresh meat".
Who says rad anymore
