Well... I, for one, did just blindly buy the game. Where's the joy in discovering a new game in the genre and from a maker that you like if you watch countless videos and research it out thoroughly before you buy. If I did that I'd never have an excuse to be disappointed and complain about everything constantly.2 -

Entirely different this is a Triple A MMO there's no reason for an MMO not to have a text chat, and Text Chat was on every Console MMO Text Chat was even in the PC version. I didn't realize that the developers would pull something so stupid.2 -

Any suggestions on the settings for the Interface volume? I already know enough to keep the "Player Voice" setting no higher than 1/2 way since it seems to default at 150 decibels!
Maybe I'll even try in Europe so I can test out my rusty Norwegian, French, Spanish and Italian (although I have no clue whether there are players anywhere but France - Oh! There are so many French toddlers on the line!).

Kurimugann✭✭✭I did hear people telling eachother to kill themselves in Ps4 NA. Is it populated; yeah in towns. Are they good people...maybe not, that particular case where having many people is too much. Kind of hard to report someone whose name is hard to see when everyone talks at once.
Now then once I get to vet zones I<ll have a better idea of how many people are around cadwell's silver vs the 2 or 3 quiet people I come across with on pc0 -

Who know. Maybe they'll add it. I suppose the more we talk about it, the more the need will be sought. My thought is that, in particular it would be useful. Proximity chat is great and all and it definitely has it's uses in the Guild setting, but, it can make things weird in other instances.
I would guess that all our consoles can certainly handle a keyboard and mouse being attached to it, so it shouldn't be that big an issue.
Another suggestion may be for those with disabilities (I'm hard of hearing myself) is to use a VRS system setting so that we, who have difficulties hearing above the din can get our messages with less effort.

I'm thinking of logging on over the next few nights and recording area voice chat in the main starting area of each faction , then posting it on youtube.

✭✭✭✭Its still busy on PS4 NA Server but mostly in the Social Zones. The population has definitely dropped over the last two months though as I see less and less players out and about through out the different areas of the game (Ive got numerous characters at different levels and regions).

Consoles aren't dying. of all the people in my guilds, only 4 that I know of have quit. 3 are PC transfers complaining about chat box and add-ons. The 4th went back to Destiny because he is a shooter guy and felt that he couldn't really play endgame in 1st person (too much red ground etc. is hard to deal with in 1st person) and he hates 3rd person games.
That however is not the norm for MMORPG's on Consoles. Yes they're use to it because other games don't need it, however MMORPG's are completely different.
If anything Text Chat is highly useful, there's a reason why Deltia utilizes text chat and also Damage Numbers etc... Because it's very useful and very much needed.
Deltia uses voice chat in all his groups. And of course he uses a ton of add-ons, the guy is an unabashed min-maxer playing in the top tier. That doesn't mean that everyone NEEDS add-ons to function. It just means that the top-tier guys use any add-on that might give them an edge (well, duh).
Deltia also uses TEXT chat from time to time because it's useful. If you ask Deltia what he would think if ZoS took away Text Chat he would say something mainly because he just cares about the PC version.
if ZoS took away the mods he would also have a field day too.

Probably because witcher has text chat. That the only reason anyone makes any decision at all, correct?
It probably has nothing to do with ESO launching at the exact same time into the exact same market.
Give it 40 hours or so and that crowd will filter back because talking to buddies is still more fun than most solo games, IMO.
When ic hits, those same guys will come back and buy, and play.
Player population really has nothing to do with text chat.
If text chat was really so important to a customer, why buy the product without it included and complain later?

All but 2 of the PvP maps get full every night. But keep telling yourselves the games population is dwingleing, maybe in year that will be true. Console gamers are accustomed to voice chat, because we have been doing it for YEARS. If it's anything it's people that went to play batman, buy they all will be back, because nothing's released until September
I think most of these text chat guys aren't playing the game if they think the community is dead.
Its a bustling thriving entity.
I think most of them turn their mics off and then can't figure out why no one is interacting with them.

im all for text chat being added to console for obvious reasons like zone chat that make things so much easier in the silver gold zones when you and maybe 3 other people are the only ones there and youd like some help with a world boss without having to run around looking for someone in those big zones and end up missing them as they were heading to that world boss and now the 20 minutes you waited at that world boss has gone to waste because no zone text chat.
If you speak to me in broken English, I will work with you to communicate.
If you type perfect English into a text box that has been toggled off by every player who can use the mics and the English language fine, you have zero chance of communication.
And that language argument is weak.
In the us we have french and Spanish speakers and we just end up using the text emotes becausee they auto translate.

Ignore the five guys who want the same exact experience on PC and haven't figured out they could just buy the PC version, its cheap and has text chat!
The majority of players on console like this kind of gameplay and interaction, hence the minority of players from the console community are here wanting text chat.
Most of the 'we need text chat on console' posts are from PC players, lol.

Agreed. The sour grapes here aren't even playing on the console.
There is the complaint that the voice chat is too busy and loud.
And at the same time they complain no one uses voice chat and there are ghost towns.
Contradictions and hyperbole.
I can easily group and trade in voice chat.
Zero problem.
Plus the psn app, allows for text messaging already. Just found out about it.
Easy and free.

I agree. This thread is about the great community the console has.
Yes, it was grown and thrived with voice chat and guild chat and people just joking and laughing.
Getting back on topic, I was at stone falls black smith and the random emotes and burbles of conversation had me in stitches on Thursday. Cripes!0
