Personally I dont think a chat window means anything on console but that chat in the video is like the red-headed step child of the worst PUG I ever ran in Age of Conan.

Hey I am all for a text chat window. I'm just laughing at the people who are getting so salty about it by saying "this game is dead to me," "the game is dying because of no text chat."

You are making your message in the main threads about it, you don't need to drag it into every damn console thread.
This post will not take you an unusually long time to read.

As it is such a big issue. Did you blindly buy the game? There was plenty of evidence there wasn't a text chat window in beta or video's.

Actually I bought it because I heard many great things about it from people like Deltia, too bad non of them mentioned the Console issues Because I didn't think ZoS would take essential things out like Text Chat that would make for a better game.

Also because EVERY MMO EVER MADE on a console had Text Chat.

Oh and they were playing on PC.

Before this game I never once thought to myself 'oooh I like the look of this, the story looks good, combat looks interesting. Hang on just let me check if they have a text chat box'

Do you know why? MMO's I've played

    WoW
    Warhammer Online
    Aion
    Tera
    FF14
    SWTOR
    Secret world
    Eve online
    DCUO

Guess what they all have in common. Go on guess.

People didnt think about it because nobody thought anyone would be crazy/stupid enough to release an mmo without it.
You give me a chat box ZOS and I'll start giving you my money again.

I honestly assumed it would have text chat. I mean I'm not gonna rage quit I've already got two vet characters so I obviously like a lot about the game. I'm just finding it hard to have to talk over ppl and deal with the uber rudeness people feel they can get away with over the internet. It would be nice to have a clear text in between hateful comments so those of us actually trying to group up and play could link and meet and form our little clique guilds. As of now whoever talks loudest in social areas rules viop

I am enjoying the main story so far, I just started yesterday on ps4. I haven't really played mmorpgs before, so I haven't found the need for text chat.

I have found that, so far, I haven't needed text to communicate. That might change should I join a guild but even still, there is the ps4 direct messaging feature.

I'm on ps4 and working on Cadwell's gold story and there is almost no one else ever here. I see people every now and then but it does make me wonder what happened to everyone else. I don't really mind though because it leaves all the resources for me. Last night I found five chests within ten minutes and before I'd be lucky to find one every few hours.

I think if you want to be one of the guys that runs around saying who wants to buy this, anyone want to buy this, who wants to buy this. You shouldn't be able to hide behind a text to do it. You should have to run around looking like a loser and ask people. And get the dude no one wants that crap area chat, or the one guy that is interested that sees what your charging for something and laughs at you in front of everyone. All these people just want to hide behind chats. Hide them being annoying, hide them wanting to pretend to be a chick, or hide their kid voice. Stop trying to hide people

I got a lot of info from that, there are two groups attacking one SE one SW.
The beginning a group leader was say good s*** to the group for taking the outpost.
What is your point other than you have distorted audio.
Everybody gets that some want text chat.
But a wall of text would be needed to convey the same info in those few seconds of audio.

wrong, they Trade Chat channels now like in every Modern MMO.

It's not even about Hiding lol, It's about being courteous, it's also about atmosphere. People are sleeping sometimes when I'm playing games.

It's also about Roleplaying which you constantly ignore which people love to do. But it's okay you can stay ignorant.

A lot of the Xbox players are far more multiplayer centric/competative than PC players.... result.. a lot of PVP players (although there are still many PVE players).

All the Xbox campaigns on NA are full every night. People go right in at level 10 and never come back out lol.

PVP leveling is a lot slower than PVE leveling.

A lot of trading and bartering in main cities (though prices are still way too high on consoles).

I've managed to get a few PUGs for Craiglorn quests the last few days as people are getting to decent levels there now.

Results will vary a lot between Xbox and PS4. Xbox has had standard voice for 10+ years. The community is much more used to dropping into games and chatting with people on your side (in shooters), or doing PUG style objectives in games like Dying Light and GTA5. My PS4 friends almost never bother to have their mic connected, and never had one in PS3 days.

Consoles aren't dying. of all the people in my guilds, only 4 that I know of have quit. 3 are PC transfers complaining about chat box and add-ons. The 4th went back to Destiny because he is a shooter guy and felt that he couldn't really play endgame in 1st person (too much red ground etc. is hard to deal with in 1st person) and he hates 3rd person games.

    People with:

    Speaking difficulties
    Hearing difficulties
    Anxiety issues
    Shyness issues
My missus stopped playing after a week cos everytime she opened her mouth she got dozens of psn invites from sweaty teenagers.
People who have English as a second language and can type much easier than they can speak. (Europe? you know just a few languages)
People who just feel stupid standing outside an instance asking for groups like a 4 year old nagging their mother in a supermarket for some sweets.
And any more reasons I cant think of off the top of my head right now.

All these reasons and this is to say nothing about the organisational advantages.
So next time you feel the need to tell people to stop hiding just think of that list above.
You give me a chat box ZOS and I'll start giving you my money again.

That however is not the norm for MMORPG's on Consoles. Yes they're use to it because other games don't need it, however MMORPG's are completely different.

If anything Text Chat is highly useful, there's a reason why Deltia utilizes text chat and also Damage Numbers etc... Because it's very useful and very much needed.

I do not disagree, except when people attack voice chat to bolster the need for text chat.
I will point out once again on PC most groups doing end game require TeamSpeak to even join them.
Also if you have rowdy player in voice chat it is up to the leader to tell him to shut up or kick the player.
Both forms of chat are useful or not depending on how they are used.

I have been playing on the PS4 for a few weeks now. Still in the early zones (level 11) but taking the time to learn the lore and the different offerings. Really started picking up the crafting. The one thing really haven't tried out or experienced was the voice chat. And truth is only occasionally do i actually hear someone chatting even in Daggerfall. So maybe its just the starter zones that are fairly quiet, i don't know. I actually think that when I join a guild and a group of like-minded (big statement there) players, the voice chat could be pretty cool. Even if I am just exploring, doing quests, and looking for resources. Can't say what it's like at higher levels and doing veteran content but going to stick with it for now and see how it goes.

There is a reason Deltia puts on underpants (probably). I don't see what he does as being relevant to pretty much anything. Just because he uses things doesn't make them needed.

It's about the initial grouping that's chaos not the actual activity. Try going into a crowd and get everyone on that teamspeak and try to buy and sell and group up at the same time, plz. About 35-60 of you all strangers and try to buy, sell and group up on teamspeak.

Because Deltia is the one FEEDING all the console gamers "Info" on what to do in the game (including builds) PC players are the one with the numbers. Because of the terrible UI letalone the terrible Social Mechanics in this game on the console version.

I highly disagree, the sky is falling. It's an MMORPG, you should always be able to find new people easily to play with and one way is through text chat, it's also a serious issue for Traders and also MMO veterans. Letalone people who also want to Roleplay on occasion.

Also and Deltia has access to Text Chat, which makes things much more convenient for any HC MMORPG gamer.

That isn't the point, MMORPG's always had Text Chat, because it's highly useful in many circumstances. That and one of the main features of MMORPG's is the social aspects of them letalone ROLE PLAYING. Many MMO's have a Roleplay server for that reason.
