I have dozens of the helms from my all my runs with guildies...only just got the shoulders this past weekend. I was so elated that FINALLY I got my shoulders after months of dailies etc. Now I feel disappointed that all that grind to get the best monster mask and shoulder has been for nothing...thanks for throwing that back in my face ZOS.

Look in the patch notes people! Ctrl+F is your friend.
    • While the change to the Nerien'eth proc chance was in the patch note, the nerf to the Skoria damage and buff to the Nerien'eth damage was not.
    • He asked for pictures and not the changes written in a text format.

And sorry Elendiel, I don't have any shots on hand. If I have time to get back onto PTS tonight, I'll try to link some.

As far as the actual changes are concerned, I'm more concerned that they continue to try and hunt down and murder my medium attacks.

Light Armor is now 1/2 of Heavy?

If so that's an amazing change! Always thought that it was far too low.

So for Nerien'eth's, the 10% chance from abilities that are not DoTs...does that mean that Biting Jabs won't proc it? Or only the first hit has a chance to proc it?

I totally agree with the nerienth changes. They bring that set up to par with valkyn. However the valkyn nerf puts it below most the other undaunted sets now. Even mephalas might be better doing 1035 damage a second over 10s not including crits and such. Its like they don't talk to each other about what buffs and needs are going to happen. The valkyn nerf brought it in line to the other sets b4. The other sets buff brought them up to where valkyn was before. It's stupid. Running imperial prison last night my lich crystal was hitting for more than my valkyn and more often with 8 points into thaum and 100 points into ele expert.

You mean there's no reason for a very difficult, RNG-based acquisition set to be powerful?

    What a bloody shocker.

The others weren't quite powerful enough. Skoria was too powerful. They brought that down, and the rest up, to balance it out instead of just nerfing Skoria and being done. :) Skoria is still a pretty strong choice since nerien'eth is only on direct damage hits, not dot's or aoe dot's, so while you get a higher proc chance, you get a worse proc type. That's actually a critically important difference. They both do pretty close to the same damage given the respective specs (magicka elemental damage for Skoria, and magicka/poison/disease-type builds for Nerien'eth), but Skoria has a lot of easier ways to get more chances at proccing it, and when it does it goes off basically instantly, while Nerien'eth doesn't, stays on the ground for a few seconds, then explodes... giving people time to move out, or bosses may run somewhere else in the meantime.

I noticed this, and I hope not, too. Light armor on live is a quarter of the protection that heavy gives, while medium is 75% of heavy. The passives are too good for medium between that and the different armor ratings, without this change.

This is what was in the patch notes, actually :

"•Nerien’eth: Increased the proc chance to 10% from 2%, and increased the damage of the crystals by 175%."

There wasn't a mention that I saw, offhand, of Skoria when I just went to grab this patch note which I'd seen when reading through them the day they were published, though... you're right :).

EDIT: Crud. Just realized I forgot to edit this into my last post instead of making a new reply :grimace: . Sorry for the triple-post!!

ah and ps. another pve induced nerf to pvp.

Shouldnt that just *** mean that they buff the other sets and leave this one alone? The monster sets ARE SUPPOSED TO BE STRONG, AND THIS SORRY EXCUSE FOR BALANCE DOES NOT CHANGE THAT FACT.

My point still stands, buff the others instead of nerfing Skoria for the third time, as these sets ARE hard to get, and they DESERVE to be powerful. Make Nerien'eth on the same level, but only for more burst type damage dealers: instant damage instead of having some dumb delay. How is that not reasonable, considering how the new mobs have a truck load of health?

I'll take the 25% dmg reduction if they take off Skoria's proc limit on a single mob, otherwise, no go.

What most ppl here talking about the lich set fail to aknowledge is: The lich set is easily avoidable. It has a 4m radius with a 3 second explosion delay. Skoria is instant dmg.

If i´d be running a dot based build i would still choose skoria over lich because it´s a safe hit - when it proccs (yeah reflect but it´s mostly a dk thing anyway if we´re being honest).

Why did they nerf valk? just buffing Ner is enough to put it on par with non Dot builds.

They could at least of buff'd the proc rate if there going to lower the dmg.

They did increase the proc rate on ner and double it's dmg.

Just a normal Valk and about the same to a PTS Ner. There is no need to nerf it like you do to everything in this game.

Typical Zos logic, 'OMG it's popular lets nerf it' Instead of thats seems to be more used why is that? what type of people use it? should we increase the other sets a little?

But no just slamming that nerf hammer and wrecking your game as usual.

You can't buff EVERYTHING else its a never-ending cycle of OPness. Sure, as a general matter of policy its better to buff things up to average, rather than nerf, but sometimes it's far more prudent to take a few of the top mechanics and take them down a peg to the average than take all the time to buff everything else.

These sets aren't really for pvp anymore. Maybe for group valkyn could still be good but the meta has shifted more towards being able to sustain leading more towards the use of bloodspawn and dwarven sphere. I think even just an extra 5 piece may be more useful in pvp now than these sets.

No. Although not documented in the tooltip, this set definitely has a cooldown mechanism. I would estimate 5 seconds based on recorded gameplay footage when I used the set.

While that is a fine sentiment, I am not sure people are generally as accommodating when it comes to their class, their build, their main, etc. NBs and sorcerers are notorious for resisting such a policy as they fanatically cling to their best class features in fear they might bring them down to the peasants that are DKs and Templars.

And I'm sure the nerf with just prompt legions of players to all of a sudden start donning the terrible Bogdan set...

I don't give a rat's behind for PvP; however, for PvE, hell yes people people should become very powerful once they acquire the set, considering that the shoulders are a once-a-day-chance to get.

Lol, you think 30 sec is all it takes to reach a balancing decision like this, let alone implement it? You are so very wrong on that.

I don't expect them to cater to me specifically, but I also don't expect them to listen to people like you who prefer everything to be more "equal through nerfing". I'd rather be powerful BECAUSE I put in effort to be powerful than have my warhammer hit like an at-home meat tenderizer just because people hate it when something is strong.

And the problem with just straight up nerfing? It doesn't make the other sets better, as you seem to imply to want. It just makes a sh*ttier item set diversion even more sh*tty.
