LFG was probably a bad example as I agree people would starting to avoid the Grouping Tools like they do on PC.

Basically like your idea but also visible on screen (not only bubble) maybe just for everyone in your group. Because I actually tried using the bubble chat stuff in a group once and it was very disappointing.

Did you see the other idea about in the social menu...adding text chat?

Text Chat should not be hidden in menu's.

    Please suggest another proposal then....
*having it as seen on PC has already been shot down by the devs so....I think its worth coming up with alternative ideas for discussion.

    please share with the community

lower left screen, semi transparent when not in use and have it minimizable. easy easy stuff wont effect anyones game play.

do you get mad when you loot stuff and text shows up in the lower left corner showing what you looted?

same thing but it will just be in a text box that wont effect your gameplay at all since it will be semi transparent and minimizable :P

plus it will add in tabs so hopefully they will add in a battle report tab where you can see how much XP you get, how much healing you did and how much damage you did. like a real MMORPG

See, here's the real problem.. You guys want to .make this a game that it's not. Text chat, DPS meters.... this isn't that game. The majority of us are happy with it and don't want this stuff.

Actually the majority of us want text chat. This poll shows it.

Text Chat should not be hidden in menu's.

I think having it in the social menu is an awesome idea. Allows for the designers to keep with their original idea of the game and that is a streamline clean ui, while still allowing those who wish to use the chat a place to do so. I mean compromise is something bothsides need to do for something to work. I see this as giving that compromise.

It would be pointless you would have to be sitting around with your socal window up, not doing anything else, hoping others are doing the same.

You might as well have the game turned off & post in a message form ... same result ...

Mira...thats the point of why adding it like it is on PC doesn't make sense.
On consoles, even if you have a keyboard....you're going to be just sitting around.

There is no way for a human to type on any device AND play the game with a controller on console.
*There are those type pads by third party companies but (on xbox one) you cannot use a headset and type with it

I'm trying real hard here and its not even my desire.....what other suggestions do you propose?

Typing in text chat wouldn't be for "when your playing", voice chat rules when it comes to dungeon runs & raids because you can communicate & play at the same time, but you can read text chat ANYTIME & chose when to respond in text at anytime of your chosing.

This isn't a one or the other agruement .. its a WE WANT BOTH PLEA!

*edit* I'd also like to point out there is no way for a person to type out a message & play at the same time on the PC as well so whats the difference?

OK, so whats been put on the table is a compromise that seems to fit and accomplish what functionality everyone is asking for. On PC, EVERY gamer is using the keyboard to play so hitting the enter key on the same controller on PC is normal vs. the need of another peripheral on console unless a player wants to use the controller and the pop-up menu to seek n find letters.

-The disagreement to the proposed compromise is the placement it seems...but Zenimax has already shared with us, no overall so to ask that it be added in a way they've said no to doesn't seem as effective as the proposed suggestion.

I agree this isn't a one or the other argument, its a desire overall where the community has participants on different sides of functions and features.

    -The proposal offers:

    -Text communication in-game
-options to participate and not participate without an extra effort for text chat or voice chat as text chat would require you to interact with the window in order for it to become functional....going into one menu is no different than what a game like Neverwinter does on console but this proposal alleviates sacrifices to the current keybindings on console.

    -no screen clutter
    -optional functionality by user
-no changes to anything that exists right now (its just adding a text box to the social tab)

There is a keyboard that you can connect to your controller as well. So you could be la Ying in bed or a couch and still type.

And if you don't have any of those, xbone has a digital keyboard that we can use

Connect a keyboard. Problem solved. Go to ebay, 7 pounds / 10 usd. PS Keyboard free shipping from Hong Kong. Problem solved. We NEED the option to choose if we want to use a text chat or not. Warframe has it. This is an even bigger scaled game. No chat HURTS it so much it is painful. No trading. No team communication. No guild communication. It is ridiculous... Audio chat would work great, but 70% don't use it and in big areas it is just a cluster %$#.

You also need another peripheral for Voice Chatting, I've mentioned before Keyboard is also Cheaper then a good headset which many Don't Have.

Down D pad isn't even as a function, that can easily access the Chat Menu. So your whole point is moot.

say what! a keyboard that connects to the controller? there is absolutely no reason not to have text chat now. ZOS you see this? its like they knew about your "couch play" concept before you decided to use that for not adding text chat and now you look like fools ZOS!

Good Headsets are expensive, most people have Janky headsets, too many times have I heard people with Headsets that are not working properly with Mic's either being too loud or too sensitive among many other issues such as Durability and quality.

If you want a sturdy good headset that wont' break easily and is of Decent to Great quality. you'll have to spend about $100-250 or more.

A good quality Keyboard that will last you a long time can cost you about 10-20 dollars.

respectfully, keyboards don't' just work like that on console.

-In order for a keyboard to work on a game, the developer has to specifically support this and in doing so consider how they want support to function. Specific to Xbox One...today, any text field entry is supported after prompted, and in games that do support using the "ENTER" key to avoid the text pop-up screen those interactions would then require a keyboard.

What's ideal for some isn't ideal for all.
Some play on console to avoid the PC master race gameplay...while others may be open to different opportunities of both.

The proposal being discuss attempts to satisfy everyone and also not interrupt or change what does work.

    Mira....

The issue is...how does a player use the window.
    The controller mapping is full...
People are also asking Zenmiax to add more options to controller mapping so one idea should be careful not to hinder another.

Placing the text chat window into the social tab removes any requirement to activate or deactivate it.
Everyone has it up so if ppl want to participate they would just go to the tab or not go there
Also, it being in a window allows free type and complete ability to then offer controller buttons within the menu for complete options so it can exist almost entirely with the options present on PC that many do like.

i agree with you sir or maam, ZOS acts like it be a hassle to have a keyboard near you.

There is a keyboard that you can connect to your controller as well. So you could be la Ying in bed or a couch and still type.

And if you don't have any of those, xbone has a digital keyboard that we can use

    I'll meet you halfway..

An on/off switch in the socal window for text chat along with tabs you can turn on/off for guild, zone, trade, battle ... while we are at it an on /off switch for in game mail notication too (put an little envelope icon above the text chat window when you have unread mail)

Text chat functional for all types of imput (virtual keyboard, glass, second screen, etc..) but designed with keyboards in mind .. aka, hit "enter" on keyboard cusor pops in text , type message , hit "enter" to send

    ablility to send a message via /trade /zone /guild1 /guild2 ... etc...

    Mira....

The issue is...how does a player use the window.
    The controller mapping is full...
People are also asking Zenmiax to add more options to controller mapping so one idea should be careful not to hinder another.

Placing the text chat window into the social tab removes any requirement to activate or deactivate it.
Everyone has it up so if ppl want to participate they would just go to the tab or not go there
Also, it being in a window allows free type and complete ability to then offer controller buttons within the menu for complete options so it can exist almost entirely with the options present on PC that many do like.

    make sense?

This would only be an issue with virtual keyboards on Xbox One & PS4 ... I dont know map it to right trigger + left trigger + option or something (just off the top of my head) wouldn't be too difficult to add something.

doesn't matter, new acts like this is a problem unique to ESO which it isn't, the developers didn't refuse to add it because they couldn't figure out of way.

It's because they were lazy and didn't expect people to use keyboard while sitting on a couch.

    Please suggest another proposal then....
*having it as seen on PC has already been shot down by the devs so....I think its worth coming up with alternative ideas for discussion.

lower left screen, semi transparent when not in use and have it minimizable. easy easy stuff wont effect anyones game play.

do you get mad when you loot stuff and text shows up in the lower left corner showing what you looted?

same thing but it will just be in a text box that wont effect your gameplay at all since it will be semi transparent and minimizable :P

plus it will add in tabs so hopefully they will add in a battle report tab where you can see how much XP you get, how much healing you did and how much damage you did. like a real MMORPG

See, here's the real problem.. You guys want to .make this a game that it's not. Text chat, DPS meters.... this isn't that game. The majority of us are happy with it and don't want this stuff.

Actually the majority of us want text chat. This poll shows it.

You aren't a majority. The foum is comprised mainly of malcontents and perpetual whiners. People who enjoy the game by and large do not post here. If you think you have a majority in this it just shows how naive you are.

And people who also enjoy the game post here. The Majority want it or wouldn't mind it at-least the people on these forums.

If the developers wanted to, they could have a Poll. But they'll never will because they're too afraid.

Y'all enjoy your little poll but you'll never get this feature. So, knock yourself out.

I shall quote you on that.

This is the purpose of the Grouping Tools (they need some work) but this becomes redundant.
-Personally this is why I'm against adding text chat to consoles because it becomes a way for ppl to avoid using the games current systems that may need some work but are there so that you will not need to add text chat or additional text emotes

check out my suggestion tho above

    Its A No From Me.

The Consoles Aren't designed for Typing. You'd Spend More Time Finding The Letter To Type Than You Would Actually Messaging.

Connect a keyboard. Problem solved. Go to ebay, 7 pounds / 10 usd. PS Keyboard free shipping from Hong Kong. Problem solved. We NEED the option to choose if we want to use a text chat or not. Warframe has it. This is an even bigger scaled game. No chat HURTS it so much it is painful. No trading. No team communication. No guild communication. It is ridiculous... Audio chat would work great, but 70% don't use it and in big areas it is just a cluster %$#.

respectfully, keyboards don't' just work like that on console.

-The inclusion of a text chat box within the social tab....

what thoughts, ideas do you have on that suggestion?
-Do you have another suggestion that hasn't been discussed that you would like to share with everyone?

You make no sense. Zero. Keyboards are compatible with xbox 1....

Actually no, dont' confuse the Xbox OS with a game running within the Xbox OS.

like on PC, all PC's can use a keyboard but not all applications support key presses the same.
This game is an application running in the Xbox One OS...all games do not support keyboards on Xbox One unless designed to do so.

letters work, but numbers don'tt always...shift and ENTER do and don't work based on the app or game running in the OS.

Thats been the big complaint about Xbox One form day 1

    That response make zero sense.

You are just desperately trying to hold on to your view point for whatever reason.

Eso can easily support keyboards. The fact that you even mentioned otherwise is rediculous

    Facts:

Xbox One keyboard support was added or rather enhanced here: http://news.xbox.com/2014/02/xbox-one-keeps-getting-better

*That support allows someone to plug in the keyboard and if done so prior to turning on the XBox One, it allows a user to type into text fields which by design are within the Xbox One OS.
This allows developed apps and games to also utilize the current support but that is limited as all the keys on a keyboard and the functions of the keys are not fully supported.

**All games and apps by development do not automatically support keyboard usage.
