This is the purpose of the Grouping Tools (they need some work) but this becomes redundant.
-Personally this is why I'm against adding text chat to consoles because it becomes a way for ppl to avoid using the games current systems that may need some work but are there so that you will not need to add text chat or additional text emotes

Hang on you are against text chat because it would be more efficient than the games current system which you just admitted needed work? My head hurts now.
And the group finder isnt there to ensure you dont need text chat. Its to go along side it. Like you know every current MMO.
No, ONE of my personal reasons not to add it is because the intended usage of some users becomes their way of avoiding to use a built in system that needs a lot of attention.
See adding text chat box in zones, for some people, it adds value but for others it makes certain in-game systems preform even more poorly.
ie: Grouping Tools on the PC, now suffer from functionality AND suffer from months of people in zone chat telling others not to use it. LFG zone chat is not more efficient than a properly working grouping tool. In ALL MMO's a properly functioning grouping tool far outweighs any text chat efforts.
There are other system that become affected as well like Guild Stores, the forums for Guild recruiting, in addition to the affects it will have on the current voice chat.
*****Lets take this back on topic....I should have PM'ed you**********
So you rather force people to use a BROKEN groupfinder, than have options to find groups via text chat etc...
I hate to bring up WoW, but it has a perfectly working group & raid finder people use all the time so it isn't laziness on the players part.
What's wrong with both?
LFG was probably a bad example as I agree people would starting to avoid the Grouping Tools like they do on PC.NewBlacksmurf wrote: »This is the purpose of the Grouping Tools (they need some work) but this becomes redundant.

Basically like your idea but also visible on screen (not only bubble) maybe just for everyone in your group. Because I actually tried using the bubble chat stuff in a group once and it was very disappointing.

Well depends really. I'm in a very active guild (not one from my friends list) who if i ever need to group up and do a quest I ask them. Talking to randoms in other vicinities, while it is an aspect that I can't do, i also haven't felt the need to want to do it. Maybe I'm not a sociable person.
Possibly would. But my argument is more likely as why would CONSOLE users likely be on forum. Its not the standard if you take my meaning.
I would also like to point out i was very pro text chat before release (even had arguments with blacksmurf on here over it), but after playing i find i haven't come across an moment where i have thought @damn i wish i had text chat'. I also PvP quite regularly and most of the time im glad i don't have text cause all i would be doing is calling the randoms idiots lol

I think having it in the social menu is an awesome idea. Allows for the designers to keep with their original idea of the game and that is a streamline clean ui, while still allowing those who wish to use the chat a place to do so. I mean compromise is something bothsides need to do for something to work. I see this as giving that compromise.

wow you must be very limited in your console games than since other MMOs on console have text chat and one has only text chat.
lol @ the poor argument, "meh i wont use it so why add it. get a PC if want to text chat... meh meh"

It would be pointless you would have to be sitting around with your socal window up, not doing anything else, hoping others are doing the same.
You might as well have the game turned off & post in a message form ... same result ...

same on PC.There is no way for a human to type on any device AND play the game with a controller on console.
*There are those type pads by third party companies but (on xbox one) you cannot use a headset and type with it. If its not via a keyboard the console type menu pops up and blocks anything other than typing and prevents gameplay so...keyboard is the only ideal option really.
With a keyboard, you will put the controller down or hold it in one hand while you type....thus stopping gameplay

lower left screen, semi transparent when not in use and have it minimizable. easy easy stuff wont effect anyones game play.
do you get mad when you loot stuff and text shows up in the lower left corner showing what you looted?
same thing but it will just be in a text box that wont effect your gameplay at all since it will be semi transparent and minimizable :P
plus it will add in tabs so hopefully they will add in a battle report tab where you can see how much XP you get, how much healing you did and how much damage you did. like a real MMORPG

DCUO, FFXIV and Neverwinter would like to have a word with you.
Also, youve only been here since a day after release on Console. Ive been playing this game since beta for PC. Text chat is definitely apart of this game. And it should of never been removed. To act as if people are trying to ruin the game by adding a basic and common communication function that has been implemented in every successful MMO, including the one you play, is absurd and irrational.
